Learn how to use spooky adjectives and haunting subjects to spice up your prompts.

It’s that time of year when the shadows grow longer, and the prompts grow shorter.
Because of training data associations, you can get seasonal effects automatically using thematic adjectives and subjects. You can simplify your prompts if you let the AI do some of the design work for you.
Look at what happens if you test the word “spooky” by itself, with no subject or art style cues:

These are surprisingly interesting, and we didn’t need to give much direction to the AI at all.
A simple formula of [adjective][subject][art style] works most of the time. Keep things simple because every word affects everything else in a prompt.
Did you know you can often use specific movies to get art styles? This works best for movies that are old enough to be in the training data. Here is “spooky pumpkin. A still from Coraline (2019)”

Spooky mansions are easy to make. Here is a “whimsical spooky victorian mansion at sundown.”

I think we got some bats for free on that one. You can’t go wrong with “foggy night” to create an atmosphere. Here is “a bat flying from a belfry. foggy night.”

You can make sculptures and other objects too. We cooked up a diabolically simple way to get Halloween-themed color schemes. Just add “pumpkin spice colors” to your prompt. Here is “black cat candle holder with glowing eyes, art deco figurine, pumpkin spice colors”

Speaking of objects, how about some Halloween cookies for the party? “cheerful ghost. halloween cookies.”

#

They don't look very cheerful, but that's ok. Don’t forget to keep the lights on for the trick or treaters. Here is “kid dressed as a superhero, halloween costume”
