• You said no VPN, but do you have one installed, even if you don't use it?
• Can you think of any firewall or antivirus software you might have on that device that might be filtering your traffic somehow?

It's gotta be something! Since it works on the same network on another device, it has to be some weird config thing on the computer. I'd ask for a list of programs you have installed but that would be quite intrusive 😁

This is the longest shot of them all, but some users on Linux (I know you're on Windows) were having some trouble with getting constant captcha tests, that they resolved with a user agent browser extension. Again, not your exact problem or situation so very unlikely, but maybe you could try.

Hi. I'm looking for a little help here. I have an ongoing chat with ChatGPT for my business that is suddenly no longer working. I keep getting this error message, even after clicking "regenerate". I have no option to do anythign else or continue the chat. This is a long running chat in which I trained ChatGPT on me, my business and my clients and has been extremely effective. probably the context limit of a chatgpt chatwindow because over time, the longer the chat goes on, the more messages there are sent back and forth.. you start going past that limit. at that point it can start to imagine things that you supposedly said and start to error out if its old enough in my experience.

PERHAPS ... it could also be the conversation is no longer possible because its based on an old model thats now deprecated.
im not sure if OAI does that.

one workaround though would be to try and copy all of the conversations' content and paste it in a new chat window. 🤷‍♂️ doubt it'll work properly though.

• Do you have an update available for the mobile app?
• Disable VPN on any device that might have it enabled, if relevant
• Disable "Web Protection" feature in VPN, separate from disabling VPN itself, if relevant
  On desktop:
• Try different browser, Chromium/non-Chromium switching seems to be a sticking point for many
• Disable any potentially conflicting browser extensions
  What OS are you running on your computer? And do you have any custom instructions enabled?

Hi, I'm using Whisper to generate subtitles for a music video. I use the 'max_line_width' and 'max_line_count' flags to format the output the way I want. Though, Whisper does not separate lines the way I need: on one line there is the end of a sentence and the beginning of the following sentence. Whisper does seem to detect that it is a different sentence as it generate an upper case letter. Do you have any insight on how to make whisper break lines at the end of sentences?

Yes, that's the glitch right now unfortunately. You should be able to start a new Browse chat in the app though, and continue it on the web like normal as a temporary workaround

opting out by email isn't a thing anymore
some context: when OpenAI used to only have API services and ChatGPT didn't existed, OAI would use data from the API requests of costumers to train the models. People could ask to opt out of it va email.
Now, this isn't needed anymore since OAI don't use data from API requests to train their models.
but they still use the data from ChatGPT to train the models so they made the opting out a setting on ChatGPT which is way better than doing so via email

Apologies, I'm not sure what troubleshooting you might have tried so far, but can you try any/all of the following, if you haven't?

• Disable VPN, if relevant
• Disable "Web Protection" or equivalent feature in VPN, separate from disabling VPN itself, if relevant
• Disabling any firewall or DNS filtering that may be affecting your device/network
• Try different Internet browsers (swap between Chromium and non-Chromium, like Chrome/Firefox)
• Try different device, network, or platform (web/app)
  And simple question but: have you double checked that you can't open the GPT-4 dropdown menu in at new chat screen?

Ah, I just realized today that ChatGPT Plus allows for multiple users to share access. If you ask questions at the same time, it won't override another person's drawing? Does that mean we can split the cost with others in the future? Is there a risk of account suspension for doing this?

You might be thinking of the "members" feature on platform.openai.com, which is totally separate re: billing than ChatGPT. As far as I know, there's no official method of multi-user ChatGPT accounts.

I tried the OpenAI Help Center but it’s absolutely useless unless your specific issue perfectly aligns with the pre-populated FAQ or ChatAI suggestion bubbles. you can contact support through that bot, you need to keep answering its questions, indicate that the other methods of help didn't help, and it'll prompt you to leave a message for a human. It commonly takes quite some time to get an answer, they're likely swamped.

But typically you'd pick something like your main area of issue, maybe 'chatGPT', then other, indicate that searching didn't find your answer, then you get prompted to leave a message, as you can see here:

2. If you're just having the conversation yourself, either accept that the AI's style is to summarize, and overlook it, or...

there was only one feature that seemed for a time accessible through plugins and not through ChatGPT itself - and that was some plugins that allowed browsing.

But I'm good with my own searches, and what would I really, really want the AI doing the search for unless it's a VAST amount of data to sift through (and later I learned that the AI is not very good at that) or if it was to try and get around a paywall? And that's not okay to do, so I don't choose to do it.

Instead, I can search my own web page, and copy/paste the info I want to discuss with GPT into the chat, and talk there. No risk of error I don't understand, no robots.txt, just me and the AI discussing what I understand is within allowed content and under the control of myself and OpenAI.

I'm pretty okay with that.

I say, learn by doing as you can, with these as your guide, and keep trying stuff, all kinds of stuff (inside allowed content only though):

In general, good prompt engineering is

1. pick any language you know really well that the AI understands too.

2. understand exactly what you want the AI to provide.

3. explain this, using language as accurately as you can, avoid typos and grammar mistakes and communicate clearly as possible.

4. check the output carefully, verify you get what you intended. Remember to fact check, and be extra careful with any math, sources, code, or other details that the AI is known to be especially likely to hallucinate.

Some neat educational experiences - go through #1019652163640762428 or stuff people say, and take the prompt and ask the AI what the prompt means to it.

See if that seems to match what the OP thought the prompt meant, and if it matches what you think it means.

Notice someone asking for help with a prompt, and try to help them - following along, perhaps, with others as others also get involved.

Find a puzzle or challenge for you that you can't solve with prompt engineering, and ask for help here (#prompt-engineering is probably the best place for that)

So what I see in the fail images is a typical Christmas ornament style attachment. So don't use Christmas ornament anywhere in the prompt. Instead use words of objects that do have the attachment style you want.

Therefore, I explored this as my request to the AI:

I tried changing internet connections, browsers, even turned off my firewall and added the website as an exemption, but still I get the error "Something went wrong. i cant send any messages to any of the gpt's and it looks like the assistant playground is overwhelmed

Usually caused by a VPN program. May have to actually turn the program off, not just stop the VPN, to see improvement.

Can also be caused by browser extensions, network settings.

Can see if different devices, different networks can connect.

How about your phone, with either web or the app?

One person reported just restarting their computer was the fix they needed (after we tried a bunch of ideas that helped others, but didn't help them).

A great many people find that a fresh install of Firefox fixes their issue, if they were not running a VPN program.

I am having issues with a computer I logged into and random people are using my account.

Change your password, which we have been told will log out all sessions, then help.openai.com to talk to the bot (will connect you to leave a message for people after you pick through choices) or [e-mail] - you absolutely want to tell OpenAI about this. That can help if any rules were broken with your account, good luck.

I have changed my password on the google account, but it did not affect the OpenAI website in the slightest

Drat. That's the best information we've been told.

So get in touch with support through email or website and bot - and tell them all you can about it, including that you think changing the password didn't close out active sessions of your account. Good luck.

Thanks to the response.

1. I do not have a VPN installed though.
2. I have only two extensions. I disabled the two, but still the error persists.
3. I can use ChatGPT on my phone without problems. I can even log in any accounts in my phone for that. My laptop does the opposite. I can login but I cannot use it.
4. My laptop surely has been restarted multiple times, but it didn't do the trick.
5. I have reinstalled the browsers I used (Chrome and Bing) but still the same error persists. I'll see if there's a difference when I use Firefox. I'll be back on this.

If that's not your fix, I'd be suspicious about something related to your network settings.

Sadly, I'm not an expert on this, I simply watch what people have said and made a list.

All files I upload to GPT 4 get rejected or cant be analyezd. Only images work. For example I tried uploading an arxiv paper as a pdf for gpt4 to summarize and a csv of data and both were rejected. No weird formatting

It's the model or tool that GPT-4 would be using to read your file.

But for me, I can't upload files, only images; I've heard others say they can upload files, but they're not getting read.

If that, then I also doubt it is my internet. My phone and laptop use the same internet connection, but it is only the ChatGPT in my laptop that does not work. It works perfectly fine in my phone. I have also tried changing networks, and still the problem is there.

Very interesting. A number of folks did say a fresh install of firefox worked for them. I wish I was an expert on this and really understood; instead all I have done is watch a lot of conversations and collected what people said helped them

I STILL don’t have access to GPT-4 multimodal. Is there any way to speak with a human who works at Open AI? If I don’t get access to the new features before my renewal date I’m canceling GPT Plus.
