i asked mini to provide some specific commands to do some stuff in Azure

and asked the same gpt 4o

and then asked 4o to compare both versions of answers

Hey guys I need some help. I have a spreadsheet of finance data for a videogame where it shows the street price of an item, and I want ChatGPT to compare it against all the store prices or ways to modify the items to find profitable money-making strategies, like empowering orbs etc.

I can't get ChatGPT to actually look at all the numbers and data and give me something useful. It just says "Research the price" despite having all the data already. It's like it won't actually read the data it has.

Do I need to train my own model? Any suggestions?

I guess I also have the same problem with code, where uploading files to the code interpreter it doesn't actually read the code, it just summarizes it.

Did you try creating a custom ChatGPT and uploading the data you have as reference files to the CustomGPT? I have better luck with it referencing data when I create a custom one and upload that data as docs or pdfs to its internal library (not just attaching it to a prompt, I mean)

When I last used custom GPTs that could connect to other websites (which is a rather vital part of them being able to do stuff besides what OpenAI directly permits/allows/controls) I was told and asked my consent to allow that connection to elsewhere.

I'm certain that OpenAI takes safeguarding users extremely seriously and does everything they can think of to protect us from abuse through their AI and system, including getting rid of anyone who would mess stuff up and using every way they can think of to detect possible harm.

That said, no system's perfect, but if the custom GPT does not at any point get your consent to connect to another website, there's really nowhere but OpenAI for any info to go, and OpenAI would handle the conversation like any other, surely (we should know not to give the model highly sensitive info of any sort).

Because if you start the conversation directly with them, you will be using GPT 4. This helped me somewhat, but it's not perfect either.

Even with custom instructions for it to stay focused, brief, and avoid repeating the same info, it will still do that. Definitely feels like an overreaction to previous criticism that it was "lazy".

Now if 'tell it I want to brainstorm at a high level it'll kind of do that for a bit and then move on beyond brainstorming and suggest low level details based on its guesses instead of just treating the conversation like a brainstorm.

The gpt4o model via the API doesn't do this , so I definitely think it's something about the hidden system prompt.

As a non-native speaker, I use ChatGPT Plus to revise my text and get a better sentence structure and flow of the text. Normally, I write 2-3 paragraphs and ask for a revision. I was very happy with the result until a few weeks before. It was changing the structure and the flow. Apart from detouring the subject from time to time, I was pretty happy. Recently, it started replying with the same sentences (maybe changing a few words). I removed special instructions, it got better but not as good as it was. I shortened the special instructions to the tone and inclusiveness but didn't help. Anybody had this problem recently?

When I opened the android app this morning, it had a notice for me about the new voice mode, and I got all excited until I realized it was just a repeat of the "it's coming" announcement I already heard here, and I wasn't one of the lucky ones. TBH, the existing conversation mode has been more than adequate for my needs with only one major annoying bug that I bet they won't have fixed in the new version, where using any swipe gesture when the conversation mode is active shuts down the voice assistant... you know, that critical accessibility utility that blind users depend on to be able to use their phone at all.

I recently extracted a conversation from an export and uploaded it, in its original JSON format, into a new conversation to give it context. (My old conversation was old enough it didn’t support Memories, and it kept defaulting back to 3.5.) That was probably a decent amount of tokens.

You can feed so many in now, though. With GPT-4o mini, I’m sure I could feed a whole codebase in there. I’m excited to see features like that in GitHub Copilot.

Last year I was trying out the Cursor editor, which hooks directly into GPT. You can have it submit your entire codebase along with your request (which was bonkers of them to even include, in my opinion). I tried it a couple times and I think each request was like $2USD 😳 The pricing has fallen so far since then.
