#Who is behind these tourney formats?

A simple question - I would love to know whether whoever comes up with these tournament format even plays the game.

Even a player who has just picked the game up would quickly realise a week like this would make for the most pointless format ever!

Who would possibly think this could be anything other than a ridiculous rock throwing festival?

Would it be possible for Ludia to check over what is being thrown at the player base before it is released please?

I’m all for equal opportunities but some of the decisions like this week’s tournament are obviously made by an intern of limited ability to make decisions based on simple logic.

If you play rock, paper, scissors and remove the paper and scissors you are left with a pretty pointless game and that’s exactly what this tournament is!

Especially because Rexy is basically a win con since there are no real checks for it in this format. Formats like these clearly lack any real thought process and I think speaks more to who is actually approving the format than who is suggesting it

At least they realized next week's roster was even worse and adjusted it... but was asking myself the same question.

Yeah. This tournament sucks. Rexy is not an auto win if you can get it low enough to revenge kill, but most of time if Rexy gets set up very little can be done, and honestly omegas are just to busted. Like when half the roster is epics and lower and you allow omegas with level 16 abilities? You’re just asking for trouble.

And like having to have omegas at level 16 unlocked just to even have a chance in the tourney is the definition of unfair. Like hit everyone has the ability to grind for however many hours due to school, work or whatever else they got going on.

Tbh I think omegas need a massive rework in tournaments. None of them are the same like other rarities making it more RNG. Omegas should have the same stats like other rarities.

# delicate olive I do admire the way you write. So clean and straight. Nevertheless, we all know ...

It does make me wonder when I see the trend continue as it does and I wonder if I’m like the dog that’s barking up the wrong tree!

You are right when you say Ludia must pay their employees, and I guess, (like any business) they must be monitoring the money coming in since they changed the formats.

Back in the day there was a forum where there activity was 10x what it is here amongst the playerbase and pretty quickly we could have our voices heard. Things would often change for the better! Imagine that!

Those days are long gone, only a select few get to have a say in what goes, and monetisation is now a huge thing compared to how it was some years ago. I understand that, and the lack of activity in this server merely proves that Ludia has complete carte blanche to do as they will.

I guess it’s just a way to express my feelings and satisfy my personal disdain by wasting my time coming in here now and then. I don’t expect any changes - that would be a fruitless exercise!

I swear Skreemer is always trying to find beef in threads lmao

But there are some points he made which are true

# delicate olive Exactly. But then again, I respectfully wonder... With all this bright intellige...

I kind of eluded to that when I said I say what I say to satisfy (🤷) my personal disdain toward certain issues within the game.

In real life I did ok, suffice to say I retired in 2018 in my mid 50's and have a very nice income so I could very easily become a whale but there isn't much satisfaction from that!

My business was very much people oriented and the less I have to do with them now the better. 😉

Then we have the upcoming tournament which allows just one unique, a few legendaries, some omegas, and then the rest a bunch of lower rarities which mostly are irrelevant.

I have to wonder if they can track which creatures people have leveled and boosted, and then they pick one like StyraLux that not a lot of people probably have maxed in an attempt to get people to spend on it for the tournament.

They definitely have not been listening to months of people complaining about these restricted tournament formats. At least they did remove StegoU from the roster which spares us the aggregation of unwinable mirror matches.

In all honesty nothing surprises me any more, and to see 3 legendary out of 4 that are hard to find is par for the current course.
Most long term players will have the two unique and the 3 omegas are meh apart from clever girl which will be the mvp for payers who spread the training points well.

Seeing this does beg the question that I originally asked though - who comes up with these formats?
Do they actually run them first to see if they are fun?

Tournaments have become someone’s bizarre plaything now - I have visions of the creator sitting in the office bragging to everyone who will listen about how they created this monstrosity that is impossible to enjoy.

From a gaming perspective it makes absolutely no sense to be doing this as so many players will just give the game up, and quite how they think income will be generated by destroying such an important element of the game is anyone’s guess.

Just the f2p veterans will give the game up, my friend. And they will stop overloading the servers and complaining about the game. Meanwhile, new players will join, unaware of the nerfing process, thinking they can suggest and get heard, buy something here and there while "support is sending their opinions to the team" and so the loop continues, the devs make their well-deserved money and most of the people have fun. That's it, plain and simple. You probably know that. What would really break a bit of the game, on the other hand - is let the newcomers know about the nerfs aka rebalance and how fast their creatures will be put into obsolescence. But no one would waste their time doing that, right?

No person in a fine mental state would think of such rosters/formats
