Due to technical issues at the launch of HELLDIVERS™ 2, we allowed the linking requirements for Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. That grace period will now expire. See details below in this post.
Account linking plays a critical role in protecting our players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games. This is our main way to protect players from griefing and abuse by enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behaviour. It also allows those players that have been banned the right to appeal.
As such, as of May 6th, all new HELLDIVERS 2 players on Steam will be required to connect their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account. Current players on Steam will start to see the mandatory login from May 30th and will be required to have linked a Steam and PlayStation Network account by June 4th. 🚨 TERMICIDE CONTAINMENT AND QUARANTINE UPDATE 🚨
Early Sunday morning, the final TCS tower upon Erata Prime was deactivated and thus a much greater crisis was averted. Three planets have been spared the fate of Meridia and thorough cleansing efforts have begun to remove the Terminid remains that stain their lush and beautiful biomes. However, the Meridian Supercolony is now producing far more spores than other infested planets, leading to unpredictable outbreaks within its vicinity.
For now, the Supercolony is too thoroughly infested for any conventional operations to have any effect, but top scientists are working on effective countermeasures. Until a permanent cure to the Terminid outbreak can be developed, Helldivers must contend with the symptoms; small clusters of Terminid spores that have erupted into massive outbreaks on Heeth, Veld, Angel's Venture, and Acamar IV. These planets now face their own crises, and are quickly being overrun.
With the TCS inoperable and the Meridian supercolony feeding the galaxy with a seemingly endless wave of new Terminids, they now pose a greater threat than ever before...

⚖️ Balancing
Primary, Secondary, & Support Weapons
- R-9 Eruptor
- Increased explosion damage by 40 and removed shrapnel from the explosion
- This is to avoid cases in which players would randomly one-shot themselves or their teammates in a huge radius around the explosion
Enemies
- Increased Shrieker sight and hearing range slightly.
- Increased Gunship hearing range slightly.
🔧 Fixes
Gameplay
- We have fixed issues with the way Damage-over-time effects were being applied. This should fix issues where only the network session owner could apply them, and other cases where they would be applied inconsistently.
- Firing the Punisher Plasma while wearing a shield backpack no longer damages the Helldiver
- Fixed issues with some weapon scopes not being aligned in First-Person-View.
- The sound when stimming no longer plays while being interrupted
- Major orders with the “Kill task” now track score correctly. Previously it counted the entire squad’s kills once for each player, meaning it would multiply the score by the number of people on the mission; this is now amended.
- Helldivers can no longer land on tall rocks in the “Horde Defend Missions”
- Helldivers can no longer land on top of bug pillars in Deactivate Terminid Control System missions
- Fix for the reinforce stratagem not being present if a Helldiver leaves the session before readying up and then hot joining the active session

These are issues that were either introduced by this patch and are being worked on, or are from a previous version and have not yet been fixed.
- Players may not have the option to send, accept or decline friend requests.
- Blocked players are not added to the Blocked Players list and are not prevented from joining games.
- Reinforcement may not be available for some players who join a game in progress.
- Helldiver may be unable to stand up from crouching when surrounded by enemies.
- Game may crash if the player changes the text language while on a mission.
- Players may experience delays in Medals and Super Credits payouts.
- Enemies that bleed out do not progress Personal Orders and Eradicate missions.
- Arc weapons sometimes behave inconsistently and sometimes misfire.
- Spear’s targeting is inconsistent, making it hard to lock-on to larger enemies.
- Stratagem beam might attach itself to an enemy but it will deploy to its original location.
- Explosions do not break your limbs (except for when you fly into a rock).
- Area around Automaton Detector Tower makes blue stratagems such as the Hellbomb bounce and be repelled when trying to call them down close to the tower.
- Planet liberation reaches 100% at the end of every Defend mission.
- Some weapons in the tutorial have missing parts presenting as question marks in some cases.

Helldivers!
Ideally, we would've liked to have some more information before posting an announcement here. However, as questions about the details surrounding account linking keep pouring in, and understandably so, we feel it's better to say something, even if it's not much.
We don't have any updated information about the account linking yet, particularly of anything related to players outside PSN regions. To clarify and per Sony's earlier statement, mandatory account linking will not be going forward. There are still ongoing discussions between parties about the details and we at Arrowhead acknowledge and respect that it will take some time to sort those out. We therefore kindly ask of you, our cherished community, hardcore helldivers and precious players, to try to be patient as well. As soon as we learn more we'll post an update here.
Furthermore, while we have your attention. We're approaching one million (!) users in here. Crazy! That means that for any topic with a large general interest, there are hundreds, sometimes even thousands of mentions and DM:s aimed at us community managers and moderators during a workday. We can't reply to all of it, but we see a lot. A warm thank you for your everlasting support of the game and for believing in us at Arrowhead. Equally important, however, is trying to be respectful of each other and of our colleagues as well. The last few days have been challenging for everyone. No matter to whom you're writing or what you're commenting on, remember there's a person on the other side. With so many people here, we're bound to have different opinions. A message to you this time, fellow Helldivers about the questions surrounding currency in Helldivers 2 for our Japanese players.
We are aware of the fact that "bonus currency" is not being shown on the warbond overview page. This is only a visual bug. There is no conspiracy, greed or undemocratic behaviour from neither Arrowhead nor Sony at play here. We're currently looking into the why and hows and will resolve the issue. Currently we have no ETA on a fix.
Verbose version/FYI:
In Japan, due to Japanese legislation, currency in Helldivers 2 has to be displayed as "Bought SC" and "Found SC". Virtual currency there has to be refunded at the end of a game's lifetime. Hence, if we refunded the "Found SC", this system could be used in ways it wasn't intended, eg. for farming "free" money.
Japanese players can buy a warbond using a combination of Found and Bought SC. In other words, if you have 800 of one and 200 of the other, you could mix and match to spend 1 000 on a warbond.
Currently, the visual bug displays only one of the currency types, or (according to user posts on Reddit, not confirmed by us at Arrowhead) you can only spend one type of currency, namely "Bought SC".

Apparently the new warbond sucks ass

As many of you have noticed, something has been off with patrols and spawn rate for some time now. This primarily leads to more enemies rearing their ugly heads than they're supposed to, indirectly to players feeling overrun, kiting, and subsequently less fun gameplay. This has been the case for all players, but predominantly for smaller teams and solo playing. We've been aware, but frankly, the past couple of weeks have been so hectic that we haven't been able to give this the TLC that it required. We now have, and we've concluded that it's not working as intended and we're changing it. There might be some minor tweaks, but overall we're reverting back to how patrols and spawn rate worked before the patch that changed them a few weeks ago. We believe that this is more or less how you currently want them to be.
We also know you want us to do things and changes properly instead of rushing them, and we do as well. Therefore, implementing this will take some time. We want to give it proper testing and review it ... ah heck, simply see that it works this time. Even if this means we're faced with more bugs and bots than even the bravest of citizens would deem realistic for a while longer, we hope you're happy with us fixing the problem.

After five days of intense decommissioning of Automatons into scrap metal for use in advanced anti-tank mines, the Helldivers came 78% towards the stated goal of 2 billion dead bots. This means that the new stratagem will continue to elude the Helldiver arsenal for now...
The war now escalates into what is officially called "The Second Galactic War." All conflict leading up to this was merely an elaborate "special operation." New recruits are being trained to bolster the ranks of SEAF, and the Helldivers are tasked with guarding these training facilities so that each recruit can be given their rigorous 72 hour basic training.

After having failed two Major Orders in a row, our Helldivers are back to their usual winning ways. The training facilities upon Heeth, Angel's Venture, Aesir Pass, and Vernen Wells are up and running, efficiently producing SEAF reinforcements to bolster offensive operations across the galaxy. During the last few days, we saw unusually large assaults by both fascist bugs and socialist automatons hitting Heeth and Aesir Pass. But our heroic Helldivers stood tall and rebuffed those attacks with determination and valor. When the moment called for them, the Helldivers answered in force, with over 81% of active Helldivers choosing to distribute Liberty and Galactic Justice to the enemies of Managed Democracy.
Now, in an effort to boost morale among fresh recruits, the Helldivers are tasked to kill or dismantle a larger number of enemies than ever before. However, any dead enemy of freedom counts, so either front is a viable alternative. To assist their efforts, the Eagle 500kg bomb has been temporarily been made available to all Helldivers.

Liberate it and we can convert it to produce en masse the dual-Autocannon EXO-49 EMANCIPATOR EXOSUIT.

After a truly impressive display of both coordination and skill, the Helldivers not only managed to liberate the Pentafactory upon Varylia 5 from the Automaton menace, but also beat back a ferocious attack upon Angel's Venture by the fascist bugs mid operation!
Fighting their way through Varylia 5 was initially thick going. The bots had put up multiple lines of defenses and ramped up planet production to levels scarcely ever seen before. But determination saw our Helldivers through, and after having broken through half of their defenses, the automaton resistance began to crumble against the might and light of liberty. However, amid the intense fighting on Varylia 5, an attack upon Angel's Venture threatened the newly built SEAF training facilities there. In a fantastic tactical move that will echo for eons, the Helldivers diverted 40% of their forces to the defense of Angel's Venture, while 45% remained to hold the bots at bay. This allowed the Helldivers to win, against all odds, on both fronts.
Although the threat of Meridia still looms, today marks a day of celebration as the newly acquired Emancipator Exosuit is immediately rushed out for distribution to all Helldivers. The brilliant engineers of Super Earth have, in record time, made the vehicle both safe and efficient to signal their thanks to the valiant and heroic Helldivers who continue to keep our galaxy safe from the threats of Managed Democracy.

After much sacrifice, our Heroic Helldivers have successfully cleared the way to the Terminid Supercolony upon Meridia.
Weaponized payloads of Dark Fluid from the research facility upon Moradesh have been deployed across the Super Destroyer Fleet. But now remains the toughest task of them all: Landfall upon Meridia.
The Helldivers will deploy to the surface of Meridia to deploy partial payloads of Dark Fluid across the planet. Once a critical mass is reached, the Dark Fluid will accrete into a superdense mass, triggering total planetary implosion.
So it begins, Helldivers, the great battle of our time.

the weapon balance patch is still, far as i heard, "cooking"
but its all still pretty usable, and the new walker is pretty nifty agains everything BUT giant assholes
so i wont waste my credits
i mean, anything beyond the normal warbond is a sidegrade or a "aint it cool" thing, the impact incendiary is GREAT at bug busting, but cant kill the holes
the SMG is neat, but not as strong
the polar AR is a sidegrade to the lib penetrator, so on, so forth
the armor is great though, 2 heavies, one servo, one reinforced, and the light one got scout

Im probably the last person to find this out, but you can upgrade to the super citizen version if you just bought the standard first

We wanted to finally give you an idea of what’s going on with our patch.
**First of all, our next patch is expected in the second week of June. **
Second, we have also pushed out an emergency hotfix to address enemies spawning on the drill in the current major order. See (i had to replace it cause the server but it just says here to check the patch notes channel in the server which I already post here) for more info.
You are right: we’ve slowed down our cadence for patches. We’ll go into more detail about it in an upcoming blog, but the short version is that dedicating more time to each patch will allow us to provide a higher quality standard and reduce the pressure on our teams. At Arrowhead, the physical and mental health of the team is very important to us, and maintaining a long-term sustainable work pace is crucial for our developers and staff to avoid putting anyone at risk of burnout.
Additionally, the cadence at which we were patching left us little time to engage with the community, or build Helldivers 2 alongside our players, in meaningful ways. This slower pace enables us to focus our energy more effectively, resulting in more impactful updates and a more enjoyable game experience for everyone.
You are also right that we should have communicated this change more clearly from the start.

However, most dire news has reached Super Earth High Command:
An emergency distress call from Vernen Wells describes thousands of civilian survivors trapped in the remains of Super Citizen Anne's Hospital For Very Sick Children. Food and water supplies are dwindling. Their survival even this long, after the fall of the SEAF Recruitment Facility on Vernen Wells, is remarkable. Without imminent rescue, they will soon perish of starvation, thirst, or Automaton butchery.
Meanwhile, however, intercepted Automaton communications have identified a large explosives repository on Marfark. Intel assesses with high confidence that these explosives came from Choohe, stolen during the initial Automaton Invasion. These stores are very likely to contain the critical raw ingredients necessary to finally deploy MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines.
Time is not on our side. Only the first planet liberated is likely to be saved. The Helldivers are trusted to determine which course of action – rescuing the children, or the AT Mines – will ultimately save the most Freedom.

In what will go down in the journals of Galactic War History, when given the choice to increase their arsenal or to save citizens in need, Helldivers from across the Galaxy chose to save lives. Although the Major Order to liberate both Marfark and Vernon Wells did not succeed, every citizen under Managed Democracy is prouder than ever for the heroism and valor shown by the Helldivers. Freedom and Liberty shines on all the more brighter now with the rescue of 4311 future voters who'd otherwise be lost.
Now with the Automatons appropriately chastised and the decryption of everything recovered from "Database One" still under way, an effort to create more living space for colonists in the temporarily bug controlled Mirin and Draco sector has begun. Using the new "Hive Breaker Drill", Helldivers will be able to effectively dispose of subterranean nurseries. Liberty cannot rest on her laurels, and neither will Helldivers.

Past Friday night the Helldivers wrapped up Major Order operations in the Draco and Mirin sectors after having successfully culled fledging Terminid nurseries using the new Hive Breaker Drill. Preliminary results are promising, with the only drawback being an elevated (but completely unharmful!) degree of Terminid spores having been measured around the most heavily hit planets. The fascist bugs could not withstand direct conflict with Helldiver wielded Liberty, so they instead spread desperate attacks to the north into the Falstaff sector, and to the east into the Jin Xi sector. Fiery Justice will claim those eventually, but an old familiar threat once again rears its metallic head: The Automatons are pushing for their old vanguard sectors.
In what appears to be an attempt to reclaim Malevelon Creek and adjacent systems, the Automatons are making a concerted effort to push south. Their old factories cannot be allowed to fall into the robotic hands of the automaton menace. But more importantly, the Memorial of Malevelon Creek cannot be allowed to be defiled given the great cost by which we claimed it. We must hold the Xzar sector to prevent the bots from establishing a foothold. Go forth and Spill Oil!

MAJOR ORDER
The planet X-45 is home to a lost Advanced Weapons Lab from the First Galactic War, buried underneath rubble and abandoned due to dangerously high radiation levels across the planet. The Lab was working on development of a powerful interplanetary battle station. Now, with radiation levels abated to completely safe levels, excavation and recovery of the Lab's work can begin, which would allow the eventual construction of this battle station.
However, the Automatons have become aware of X-45's importance, possibly through malicious and deceitful cyber attacks. They have launched an opportunistic assault to rout our cut-off forces in the Ymir Sector.
On High Command's orders, SEAF Forces have begun amassing on Aesir Pass. Soon, we will be ready to initiate a push to break through the Automaton line and relieve our cut off forces.
Until then, the Automaton assault may be slowed, but will be extremely difficult to stop altogether. It is imperative that X-45 be held until the plans for the battle station are recovered. If they fall into the Automatons' actuators, the results could be disastrous.

I always forget you can change the firing mode on the autocanon
it kicks large amounts of ass, it is, however, nearly imposible to control unless you got that reduced recoil armor AND someone feeding

As part of this order, the Helldivers are tasked with eliminating bugs using a variety of weaponry to stress the terminid population into controlled but accelerated evolution.
So for the next three days, Personal Orders will promote either the elimination of specific bugs, or the use of specific weaponry against bugs. Also, as part of this research initiative, each day will feature a specific stratagem to be available to all Helldivers on top of their regular loadout.

This application of controlled duress to the Terminid menace has resulted in some exciting findings, such as that the Terminids produce higher quality E-710 when harvested under extreme duress. Though much work remains, our understanding of the most efficacious bug-eradication methodologies has been thoroughly advanced.
Now, Super Earth High Command directs the Helldivers back to the western front, as a strategic opportunity of galactic proportions has revealed itself. The Automatons have opened up the opportunity to split their forces down the middle, which would throw their cut-off forces into disarray and weaken their defenses for a short time on the cut-off planets.

While no clear method of termination has proved to produce more E-710 than any other, our top scientists agree that establishing this beyond doubt was well worth the expenditure.

We have heard your feedback about our change to fire and how it has affected flamethrowers, and we appreciate our community's continued honesty about how they feel about Helldivers 2. We're now having a lot of internal discussions about the best course of action.

We don't want your thoughts and feelings to be lost in the channels, but it is difficult to keep up with the many pings and DMs in the server during busy periods like this.

🚨 GALACTIC WAR UPDATE 🚨
The Helldivers successfully wiped out the remaining pocket of Automaton resistance in their cut-off territory, while simultaneously holding the line against the Terminid spread. Yet even so the Gloom has continued to spread, suffusing intergalactic space with an impenetrable cloud of Terminid spores. The impenetrable cloud seems to accelerate the spread of Terminids to planets in its vicinity.. All vessels sent into the Gloom, both manned and unmanned, have ceased radio contact within minutes.
None have returned. We have only one remaining recourse: The Helldivers must procure samples of Terminid organic matter from the planets closest to the Gloom. We expect all Helldivers to clean their gear post mission to avoid accidental gloom spore spread.
Best of luck Helldivers, the data from this endeavor will be crucial in our efforts to understand how to prevent it spreading further.

🔧 Fixes
Crash Fixes: - Fixed a crash when dropping into a game joined by invite while previously hosting.
- Fixed a crash that would occur after being kick for being AFK
- Fixed a crash that could happen when dropping down into a mission.
- Fixed crash that could occur if shutting down the game during boot.
General Weapon and Stratagem fixes - Fixed an issue where flamethrower particles would ignore enemies.
- The issue was when the enemies turn into a lower-resolution version at some distance from the player, they stopped colliding with the fire particles.
- Mines can now be shot and blown up while near a dangerous object.
Enemy fixes: - Reduced the explosion radius of Tentacles Stabbing ability and Light Rockets
- This should alleviate the excessive ragdolling caused by the Impaler and Automaton enemies using light rockets. We are still working on improving the ragdoll behavior overall.
- Fixed a bug where the Impaler's tentacles could chase you indefinitely in some cases.
Miscellaneous fixes: - Fixed an issue that could cause soft-lock during drop-in after the host left.

- Players may not receive Friend Requests sent from another platform.
- "Invite only" games created by a friend can still be seen on the Galactic War map but cannot be joined.
- “Conduct Geological Survey” mission may become incompletable if a player calls in “Seismic Probe” and immediately leaves the game or disconnects.
- Bile Titan sometimes does not take damage to the head.
- Enemies that bleed out do not progress Personal Orders and Eradicate missions.
- Most weapons shoot below the crosshair when aiming down the sights..
- Chain-link fences block flamethrowers’ fire.
- Stratagem beam might attach itself to an enemy but it will deploy to its original location.
- “Guard Dog Rover” does not overheat when firing continuously.
- Players are able to pick up empty expendable weapons like EAT-17 or MLS-4X
- Reinforcement may not be available for players who join a game in progress.
- Service Technician on the ship cannot be interacted with - they complained they were bothered too much and could not do their work efficiently

🔧 ⚠️ Emergency Hotfix
This patch is an emergency hot fix addressing the Impaler crash. We deemed it worth bringing this one crash fix in now in an attempt to minimize the crashes during the weekend. Thank you for your understanding.

The Automatons have been pushed back from the planets closest to Super Earth. This success would not have been possible without the extra chemical weapons provided by the disgraced soldiers who submitted counterfeit samples. Their nonstop work with highly toxic chemicals provided the boost we needed to push the Automatons back.
With the bots repelled for the time being, focus once again shifts to our dilemma with the Gloom. Efforts to research the growing Terminid spore cloud have stalled, but we will not allow a mere lack of scientific understanding to thwart decisive action. The Helldivers are ordered to deploy in full force to hold back the Terminid swarm with the deployment of every weapon in their arsenal.
The source and nature of the Gloom may not be clear, but the mass extermination of its tyrannical spawn will send a clear message to the mindless bugs: Freedom will not be intimidated!

Despite heroic conservation efforts, and millions of Automaton militants recycled into useful scrap metals, the Helldivers were unable to secure sufficient resources to rectify supply shortages. Fleetwide distribution of the Orbital Napalm Barrage will be delayed. The Automaton war machine continues to destroy the natural resources of the galaxy. Left unchecked, our natural treasures will be consumed by the forges of Socialism, until all that remains is a heap of ash and metal.
Alas, the Galactic War does not pause, and a massive Terminid outbreak has erupted out of the Gloom into the Jin Xi sector. Colonies in the sector are only weeks old, but millions of families are trapped within, awaiting emergency evacuation.
All Helldivers are called to the colonies' defense.

The Terminid outbreak from the Gloom has been contained, with property damage and loss of civilian life both within acceptable parameters. The bugs wrought massive devastation across the Jin Xi sector, forcing many families to flee from their homes, but the swift action of the Helldivers prevented significant loss of territory and protected the investments of the Ministry of Expansion.
The Terminids hide their un-Democratic activity behind the shroud of the Gloom. Efforts to peer within the cloud continue. So long as the eye of Liberty remains obscured, Tyranny will be allowed to foment within.
Yet celebrations of this momentus victory must wait, for the Automatons have launched another brazen expansion in an attempt to steal more territory from hardworking Super Earth citizens. Intercepted communications indicate this latest incursion is targeting a large repository of titanium on Imber, possibly for use in construction of some kind of enhanced strike force. The Automatons' recent expansionist efforts have been constrained by the might of the Helldivers. Now, they are clearly attempting to increase their warfare capabilities, in an effort to capitalize on the threat posed by the Gloom. The Helldivers must stop them.

the GATER (the refinery truck) is drivable and has an autocannon turret with hardly any depression for a copilot
the rupture terminids are kind of like an uncommon elite, they are part of the terminid swarm, not EVERYONE is a rupture bug, witch is good because those fuckers are TOUGH
well, less tough and more STRONG
and yes, the caves are indeed big, dark and cramped as hell
use something with stopping power or shotguns because you WILL get swamped in insects
The Hive Lord can be killed, but it takes a while
its a beefy bastard, thats for sure, i dont think he is necesary to kill, or arleast i didnt see it on diff 8
