Evaluation testing LivePreview but getting: ERROR: Error: cannot connect to MongoDB.

I'm evaluating Payload CMS and tried to set up the LivePreview example. It's throwing an error cannot connect to MongoDB. Details: connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:27017 when running the example. I'm supposing the PAYLOAD_SECRET should be a generated with something like openssl rand -hex 16? Or should it be found from some other place? Anyhow I'm not getting the example to work. Help needed.
