Sceptic about the pulling schema from database

I am trying out payload on my existing application. So I wish to introduce little by little and nkt go all in without understanding what it’s doing under the scenes.

I see “pulling schema from database…” on each hot reload. Does this mean payload does some kind of server action on every route/page? I just want the cms to only pull the latest changes while build. I don’t want this thing to add to my infrastructure cost
