Search plugin with existing data

I'm wondering if there is a way to implement the search plugin so it indexes existing data. Or do you have to start with an empty project?

The solution i found was to write a script that updates every entry in the collection(s) i wanted to make searchable(after first installing the plugin). 👍

You could do a batch update by selecting all items in a collection within the admin panel and changing the published date or something non meaningful.
