Hi - asking for help because I parsed an 8 on our first Kurog kill today. I feel like to grey parse without dying you have to be doing things horrendously wrong, but I feel like I've done my best to watch videos, read the wowhead guide, look at WoWAnalyzer, etc. Any help appreciated.

Well you lost a full DR because you held it
You’re competing against evokers who have 5 DRs in the same time frame
I’m on my phone and can’t look into exact details but it also looks like your DR uptime on two of them is shorter than it should be
You only used voidmenders showgem 3 times but DR’d 4?
shadow gem has a 90s cd. If you are forced to hold your DR due to raid leader instructions you can still send the shadowgem in the middle and get it back for your last dr
Renewing blaze is a dps increase, especially on this fight, due to scarlet adaption. Try to use it every minute on cd unless you’re saving it for a specific moment
Further into the fight I notice you have long pauses with no spell casts not during transitions @dark wasp - thats also a big source of dps loss
ABC - always be casting. You should always try to hover and cast but Even if you can’t hover and cast LF, you can at least spam azure strike on the move to get a little damage and maybe a proc
I know we can’t control what trinkets we get but I would also suggest simming feather against your codex and see what comes out on top

thank you for the feedback. I'm 0 for 20 something on feathers but will keep trying. I think the gem probably was on CD from codex going into DR and I didn't notice, I will adjust my weakaura to try and avoid that. One followup question, wowanalyzer was really strong on casting more SS, but looking at log compares most people cast a roughly similar number - do you think it overemphasizes that or should I make sure to prioritize it? I have been either not casting much during DR trying to get extensions or trying to make sure I am pooling essence or have ES for it.
