Development never stopped, it's just happening on 4.0. Version updates are not linked to actual src development. The thing that differentiates versions is protos, the actual src stays the same - barring only changed/replaced packets.

Like said above, open source project, the only thing holding back development is people not contributing

Yeah it’s hard to explain but I very much think hoyo won’t get aggressive if you stay away from current events and don’t hurt there business model then mybe they will over look gc using there stuff even knowing it doesn’t provide them. And yeah about crossing the line it’s there ps it’s not my decision to change there goals. ^^

Some ppl I talked to about the idea said they wouldn’t care if there business model is effected or not however when I asked why they wouldn’t I get a respond of I don’t really know.

I just don't understand why other well-known games don't have private server software, but mihoyo's games do, and if data leak is found in China, it will definitely go to jail. If the development business of mihoyo is not in China, I'm not sure if it will be sued??? As a Chinese, I am not very sure about the laws and political systems of other countries. Since they all had ability to update before, I don't think there might be any other way to block updates to the grasscutter. The genshin impact server software can be written in reverse, but the resource files cannot be analyzed out? I really don't understand. If grasscutter is totally a 100% reverse engineering result, that's just like mihoyo's slogan "tech otakus save the world".
