in modern versions it's under helpers > scale highlighting. in this version there is a "note grid highlights" option but it doesn't let you select a scale. The option detect score scale does end up giving you a highlighted scale based on the placed notes in the pattern but it'd be better if I could just select one from the start. is there a way to do that in this version?

That got added later iirc. I know the stamp tool replaced the old chord tool with FL 12 but I can't remember if the scale menu got changed then too or if it was later.
