For the percussion of this song I wanted to have there be a little intro and then obviously into the main part, and i was wondering if I had to make a new pattern for the main part despite it being the same instruments

That's usually how it's done if your using the pattern in channel rack or the piano roll yes.
You can duplicate the pattern and modify the new copy if that is easier though.
Or you can make one long pattern that has repeats and changes all in it, but there isn't any advantage to that really.

Yes
