maybe add a second instrument to compliment the lead. it could have the same exact notes (either in sync or offset by just a bit). my music's trash btw but i'm just guessing.

I think its just the chord progression

i think the chord progression is fine but you could play with the voicings of the chords (like how C E G is c major, but E G C is also c major) because right now it sounds like all the chords are at root position
i also think the reason why it sounds like "imovie music" to you could be the fact that the melody is relatively simple with like a cute sounding instrument, and also the chords that are exactly 1 bar long throughout the majority if not all of the song
overall i like the idea and hope this helps lol
