Certain instruments peaking, trying to get rid of popping while having them still be heard.

So I'm trying to go for a really bassy distorted sound but because its so loud I've had to turn up some of the instruments to be heard. Is there a way to have the instruments loud enough in the track, but without them peaking and making this irritating popping noise?
