#Fruity Limiter not receiving sidechained input signal (FL Studio 21)

I am trying to sidechain a bass and kick drum. I'm a little rusty in FL Studio rn, but I am pretty sure I remember how to do this. I set up a quick demo project to demonstrate the issue:

  1. The kick drum and bass have been sent to unique mixer tracks. With the Kick track selected, I mouse over the little arrow at the bottom of the bass track and click 'Sidechain to this track'.

  2. I select the bass track and add a Fruity Limiter plugin. Inside of the plugin, I switch to COMP mode and right-click on the sidechain field to select 'kick' (which is the name of my kick track).

  3. I play the track and the bass signal is visible within the plugin, but I see no signs of any input coming from the kick drum:

you need to set the threshold and ratio

set the threshold to, fairly low, maybe like 9 oclock, then turn the ratio to the right
