Idk why but when I click on the vst to hear a different sound or something, it just stops working for any keys at all.

Are you using 32-bit plugins in this scenario? Does the wrapper say Plugin Named (Bridged)?

If this is the case, bridged plugins will always steal keyboard focus. There isn't a good workaround for this. You'll have to click back into the FL window to get your typing piano to work.
