#Is it possible to make note volume not affect Maximus or Fruity Limiter or any other Compressor?

So basically what happens is that I want to change the velocity of an individual note or all of the notes in one pattern. This causes set thresholds to be crossed and instead of producing the same sound at a different volume it compresses it differently. What I want is each note to sound the same but with different volumes based on each pattern.

compression is a static entity that just sees the input you're giving it, if the input crosses the threshold, it activates

#

so, if you have notes going into it, and it crosses the threshold, then why do you have compression on it if you don't want it to trigger compression?

It's just that I think it makes sounds sound more clear, if I'm not mistaking it for distortion

#

I'm very new to compression

i'm just a bit puzzled on what you're looking to do

the best i think is, you could automate the post gain on the compressor, if you want the volume to be lowered but post compression, instead of before as to affect the input volume
