Self explanatory. this started happening when i updated to the newest version.

This is one of the latest changes where double clicking on the pattern opens up the channel rack if there are no notes drawn in the piano roll. If you have a pattern with notes drawn in the double clicking behavior works like before. This was already addressed in the IL forum and there might be a general setting for it in future updates

You could revert it to I think it was build 9333 where it works like before until it has been updated

I'm mostly using F7 or the symbol so I wasn't aware of that change but there are some posts where people are having the same workflow problems like you
