#how to start making a beat?

hey I'm new to making beats, can you give any advice on the best way to get started? I'll add that I know how to mix / master, I'm more about writing melodies, drums and general creation

one method you could use is familiarising yourself with popular chord progression(specific to genre of course) and then building melodies on top of that. Anther thing you could do is think of a song similar to what u want to make and take inspiration from that.
