Are you recording on the master by chance?

The recording mode thing is probably set to monitor external input.

I'd recommend recording on some other mixer channel, not the master.

I might have this backwards in my head, I thought this muted the channel/effects momentarily.

What's your recording set up look like in FL? Are you hitting the limiter when adding your vocals?

There's definitely a lot going on there. Does the backing track still go quiet if you disable the effects?
