I'm on an M1 Macbook Air, FL21.0.2, my airpods don't have other issues and FL is fine with my headphones or laptop speakers. I tried making an aggregate device with my Airpods as in and output but it didn't just say "input disabled", it actually was unable to send anything to them at any sample rate. It's always said "input disabled" when I switch to Airpods but then it still enabled them and played fine, but after switching to 21 it plays twice as fast and is crackly. If anyone needs more info I'd be happy to help!
#When I try to use my Airpods, all audio from FL plays twice as fast and is very crackly.

I don't know if there are any unique quirks with airpods vs normal bluetooth earbuds, but this is usually related to the mic being enabled still.
Are you sure the input/mic on the airpods is disabled on the aggregate audio device?
Heres the status of the checkboxes on my end fwiw.
What sample rate are you trying to use? 44.1 kHz is the normal, but that only works if the mic isn't active.
If the microphone is enabled, then the bluetooth device will switch to 16kHz usually, which will play at the wrong pitch, and suffer weird pops/stutters.
Try 44.1 kHz both there and in FL
i do have 2 output channels they're not there
ok!
only allows 24 and 48
and fl doesn't have 24
Which air pods are you using, specifically? the normal 2nd gen airpods?
I will go some googling quick.
really appreciate it!!
Are there any other applications that might be trying to access the Airpods mic? (Maybe something isn't set to use the aggregate device you set up?)
Or another application thats asking for a certain sample rate?
If the airpods were in headset mode, you should be seeing 16kHz, if FL and the macos control panel thing agree on 48kHz, I can't think of any reason why it'd be sending audio at 24kHz.
(though it does seem to be a supported sample rate)
so should i like set discord and everything else to take the aggregate device?
I would try that. Just to see.
Might also be worth a system restart for the lulz.
The aggregate device thing should be a pretty quick and easy solution, so I don't really know whats up.
fl crashed when i switched discord to use the device
it's been crashing a ton lately
yup still not working
it can't be a buffer length thing, right?
i mean mine is pretty average anyways
It probably wouldn't be.
Just to confirm, if you switch to using the built in speakers/mic, does FL behave?
Try turning off the drift correction maybe?
That's one difference between our Aggregate device settings
FL won't support the 24kHz, so it's hard to say
when i switched to 24khz (on the midi) it was still sped up but no audio came through to my ears
i'll try that yeah
drift correction slowed it down
nothing in my ears and mac won't let me switch back to 48k
Disconnect/reconnect, system reboot, pray?
That's very good.
Check the drift correction and sample rate
Did you manage to get it to 48kHz?
Worst case scenario, go wired, be sad.
i have a great set of headphones
but
i need a new 2.5-3.5 cable
and it isn't here for some time
I'm sorry I can't help you figure this out. I'm a turbo nerd for this stuff on windows, but my MacOS experience is limited.
"It just works" until it doesn't
that’s totally fine! i mean i think it’s more fl than mac but doesn’t really matter
really appreciate all the help
OK THIS WAS FOREVER AGO BUT
I FINALLY FIXED IT
I downloaded BlackHole (the mac audio cable thingy) and AU Lab (the official software by Apple, I just wanted to send BlackHole audio to my airpods) and I had FL send to BlackHole and AU Lab send to my airpods
it has maybe 20 ms lag but not that bad
