#.jar files not opening upon execution

Exactly as the title claims. I installed ETF and EMF, and when I execute the .jar file, it doesn't do anything. Not even an error. the Optifine .jar works fine, but no .jar Mods work. Any help?

you don't run them

they're mods

you put them in the mod folder
