realistically? Yes, but getting ingots makes more sense than just taking an ingot and using it in a crafting bench to make tools.

ingots are representative of large pieces of usuable metal. scraps are just the little junky bits

Eh, I don't think I like this idea. You don't really find THAT much and those few ingots really help out early on.

Salvaging is actually useful though, where as in vanilla it is good early but later just falls flat. Here in Afterlife, they help you get ingots to create things earlier but not overpowered to the point you will come off with like 400 steel or something lol

Yeah uh the steel game is already hard and extensive, don't make it harder

Steel sure. Leave my wrought iron alone though, I like my hatches 😄

this would be a major, major blow... because it means like twice the workstations skill required and multiple trips to the snow by bicycle before you can get a motor vehicle

#

would be a mega ultra harsh change

#

especially for biome layouts besides the default, where there may not be snow accessible right next to forest

#

and in terms of research, you would be forced to basically scrap every book you find to craft forge aheads in order to have any hope of making a vehicle by the time you've depleted every POI within 10 minutes bicycle travel of paper
