You should also consider 6000 series Radeon cards. They tend to be cheaper for the same or higher performance. As long as you don’t care about ray-tracing.
No VR games to my knowledge even use ray-tracing.

Also if you're considering Radeon cards and you're using a quest headset I would recommend to stick to Nvidia as their encoder is better
If you're on an index or native pcvr display port you can get away with Radeon.. however do note that Nvidia's VR pipeline is more reliable so its probably not worth the price discount for comparable hardware. I personally would never recommend an amd card for VR

I’ve been using an Index with a 6900XT with no issues for over a year. But I agree that NVIDIA is more reliable driver and software wise. Though there have been plenty of issues with NVIDIA support for VR.

Agree. Like I said I would recommend Nvidia but if there's a deal and you're on native pcvr you're taking a very minor risk for compatibily by going Radeon. Lots of people share your experience. However for quest since it needs to encode video to get it to work.. it's pretty ass since Nvidia's hardware 264 nvenc is very solid

This is a question for Oculus 2 people that are hard wired, IE: with the Oculus USB-C cable, to their computer. I am having minor issues when I try to play Half Life Alex. When I first load the game from Steam it says that there is low memory. The game plays fine until I pause it or do anything other than load, play, then it freaks out on me. It will eventually return to the menu screen and allow me to either continue or quit. It is an annoying and disorienting 30 seconds to 1 minute. I will post specs below. Additionally, I have played the game (same computer) with the Valve Index with no issues.

I've had similar issues using my quest with link, what fixed it for me as to buy a better link cable, idk if you are using oculus's official link cable but it's terrible. I bought the Anker Powerline USB C to USB 3.0 and it instantly made everything better for me.
There's also some witchcraft going on with the transfer between PC and Link 😅
The official link cable could probably be explained that GPUs never received official VR support directly on the GPUs with USB C. i know the 1000/2000 series some of them have a USB C slot, but they aren't really great as they are not really supported hardware wise

Anker USB-C 3.0 cables offer transfer speeds at 5Gbps. Please confirm your device and computer both support USB 3.0.
And as well as plugging the quest cable to mobo isn't very optimal either, because it would be just like plugging a monitor to the motherboard, not very ideal 😅

I understand that thought and would totally buy it. Though I think that they are aiming for a market of people that either don't want to or can't upgrade to a powerful computer. Not to mention they can control it better. I am actually going to buy it and play it later today, so I will def give you my opinion on it. However, from a superficial glance - this looks like a massive step forward. I would imagine that there is a comprehensive pipeline to this demo in of itself. It takes place on a 51km^2 map, and it also has a new iteration of Zeus for game master controls. So if anything, shelling $30 to playtest their newest engine while also being able to create custom scenarios (with mod support) is well worth it to me.
Worst case, is I am out $30 and the product just isn't close to reaching the scope they have in mind

As someone who builds PCs I'd recommend taking the Type C port, you can always expand your 3.0 USB's with a 15$ expansion plus some PC VR requires it be powered by an external usb strip anyways!

That it has both power connectors (3070 is a power hungry GPU)
That your cable is all the way in both the monitor and your GPU.
That you use the top-left most port on the GPU when look from behind the PC.

anything you connect to your motherboard will not run on the GPU.
If you run an Intel processor then it will work, but running integrated graphics on that monitor, so no games on that monitor.
Preferably use HDMI/Displayport/DVI from the GPU if you can.

my mobo doesnt have a usc-c thing for the usb c to work on the front so ill just use my usb 3 same as usual for now

OK, That is good. I asked because I have the Oculus Rift S that uses HDMI, I had the Index which is Display Port, and now am using the Oculus 2 with USB-C. When I use the Rift S (almost never now), I have to use a Display port cable with my monitor because I, like you, only have one HDMI port.
Anyway, 1 Display port to HDMI adapter should get you all set. And it is cheaper that that HDMI to VGA one in the link I sent you. 🙂

Yea I decided to go with what fish said and do the vga to display port just to have it linked to my card since my only hdmi is linked to my main monitor already

Its not that bad in all reality, if you're determined, your lungs will get used to it about about 90 seconds, eyes will stop watering after a few minutes, then it's just a mild stinging in the lungs and eyes. Few years ago, we had a competition of who can last the longest, I came in 3rd at a little over 10 min doing workouts and other dumb shit. 1st place was almost 20 min, and got a coin from the BDE SGM.
I will say though, if you have a cold and you're all stuffed up, CS gas is instant relief lol. Clears everything out.

Think you can record on Quest, then connect it to the PC trough cable and just move the vídeo to the PC or Copy
You have the option as well of playing Ghosts Of Tabor in the PC with Airlink or Virtual Desktop and use OBS for the recording

if i stream from my quest 2, i cast to a chromecast which then goes into a hdmi splitter to strip the hdc signal, which then goes into the a capture card (i am currently using a evga xr pro but had a elgato hd60 previously) and then into a computer
for some reason the quest doesnt like to capture mic, so i use a wireless modmic.
if you do it this way you can also use a webcam to capture yourself
