Ente Photos can open photos directly from the camera app's preview thumbnail on supported Android devices, but this depends entirely on whether the camera app sends the Android handoff intent that Ente listens for.
While many camera apps support this integration, some do not send the necessary review intent. Notably, the default Pixel Camera and Samsung Camera apps do not support this flow. Since you are using GrapheneOS with the stock camera app, it is likely that this specific camera app also does not send the required intent for Ente to open photos directly from the preview.
To check if it can be enabled, you can try setting Ente as the default handler:
- Open device Settings > Apps > Default apps.
- Select Gallery app (the name may vary by manufacturer).
- Select Ente Photos.
If tapping the thumbnail still does not prompt you to select Ente Photos or open it directly, the integration is not supported by the GrapheneOS stock camera app. In this case, you will need to open the Ente app directly to view your photos.
