Generally I've been using Ente to share photos with specific people for their enjoyment. And I'm liking it.
But I want to show some photos to a magazine. I don't think they will use the shots uncredited [I've been subscribing for long enough I know their mentality, plus I know one of the core editorial team very well] but a link may end up passing through the hands of people with fewer scruples, and as the photos are at the heart of a story I want to sell, if someone else published them that would spoil it...
#Is there a way to watermark photos? What does anyone do about copyright notices?

Ente Photos does not provide a built-in feature to watermark photos directly within the app. However, you can add descriptions or captions to your photos, which are stored securely and searchable, but these do not appear as visible watermarks on the images themselves.
For copyright notices or attribution, Ente does not automatically embed visible copyright marks on shared photos. Since all sharing is end-to-end encrypted and controlled by you, only people you share with can view the photos. You can share photos via shared albums with specific Ente users or create public links with optional password protection and expiry to limit access.
To protect your photos from unauthorized use or redistribution, consider:
- Sharing only with trusted Ente users via shared albums where you control permissions.
- Using public links with password protection and expiry to limit exposure.
- Adding copyright information in photo descriptions or captions within Ente, which travel with the photo metadata but are not visible as watermarks.
- Exporting photos with your own watermark applied externally before uploading to Ente for sharing.
Ente does not modify original photo files or metadata, so any visible watermarking must be done before upload.
