#Android mobile app cannot find Whatsapp Image location
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Ente automatically scans your device for photos and videos and groups them by their native folder (such as WhatsApp Images), which should then appear in the Albums tab. While there is no option to manually specify a custom file path, you can manage which discovered folders are tracked for backup by navigating to Settings > Backup > Backed up folders within the Ente app.
If the WhatsApp folder is not being discovered on a specific device, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Check Permissions: Ensure Ente has the correct permissions by opening your device Settings > Apps > Ente > Permissions and ensuring "Photos and videos" or "Files and media" is set to "Allow".
- Disable Battery Optimization: Go to your device Settings > Apps > Ente > Battery and ensure battery optimization is disabled (set to "Unrestricted") to allow background processes to scan for new media.
- Refresh the App: Close and reopen Ente to trigger a fresh scan, or try reinstalling the app to reset the discovery process.
For more details, you can refer to Ente's documentation on selecting folders to back up and troubleshooting photo access.

Solutions to common issues with uploading, syncing, and using Ente Photos
But on a different android phone it doesn't discover it.
Can you confirm if you have granted full access to images and videos or limited access?
I will check
Ok I checked it has full access to images and videos. But it's not finding the whatsapp media directory
I think it could be because the location has changed in recent android versions.
It's under Android media com.whatsapp WhatsApp Media WhatsApp Images
Is there anyway to manually add a directory in ente android app for backup?
