I watched half way through S1 of OW.
I didn’t really follow the players too much but found it fun seeing a bunch of different players/ideas brought up comp wise.
S2 of OWL I watched almost every match. The matches last year were a stomp nonstop.
Imo it’s one of the reasons the pro scene lost viewership.
There were moments of underdogs upsetting big teams and those moments I still reminisce.
The devs took too long to fix their game last year and had to literally sledgehammer goats out of existence but the damage was done.
The nail in the coffin was the switch to youtube. Stream quality felt worse. At the start, a game like OverWatch where there’s a ton going on would look pixelated limited by I think the bitrate.
Season 3 plans were all messed up by covid and killed player motivation for some.

You know why I don't play Quake champions? It's not because it's a bad game. It's because there are no local servers and I have to play on a 170ms ping, and it takes 8 minutes to find a game.
Similar deal for Overwatch. yes, some issues with Doomfist, Genji and Hanzo give me the shits, but they pale in to insignificance compared to the utter bullshit we have to tolerate caused entirely 100% by players.
They fail to realise how a curated competive environment could effectively replace Overwatch Contenders Trials and Open Division.
