LA @gaunt acorn why would they get one in Vancouver
Would be pretty meh for scrims
And Koreans like LA
because seoul and shanghai have both built team houses in their respective cities
and dropping 11 million on a temporary house seems excessive
It's the same rhetoric when hastr0 bought a team house back in dallas when they were starting out as EnVyUs
It's was a mean to have the team together like any team house
Shanghai and Seoul go back cross continent though, it makes sense for them to stay there off season
But a team house is all the more relevant going forward
yeah eventually they're going to need it
Offseason or between stage 2/3
and it's still offseason
Yeah but they don’t go cross continent
every team will need a team house in their city soon enough
It’d be more likely to be LA or KR imo
guarantee it's not in korea
It seems like a waste of money to get a team house they won’t be at much
Having one in LA would seem worse off in the long term
Half the year in LA, half the year in Korea assuming it’s the runaway roster
Pretty sure Houston Outlaws members have their own places in LA, some choose to love in their own apartments near the arena
Keep in mind they'd be paying rent for one year and now two ✌️
League provided accommodation
Or the teams did one of them
Those generic apartments you see at the start of pre season / season 1
Is it just me or does the look of the new Atlanta teams logo look awesome?
It does xD

@signal bone, I've sent you a DM with all my commands!
wtf are you doing
11 million house for the team
hmm
why exactly 11 million and not a 1 million one
because it's 11 times better
oh well, if the hockey club has all the money, then i have no problem
but 11 million for just a team house is exag..
either they plan to sell it (and maybe make a profit) when they leave LA by season 3 (or 4?)
or they bought it in vancouver
and are investing a lot now as a long-term thing
Runaway deserves the best
they seemingly got it
Also different Orgs different spending budget.
But 11 million?
I wanna see that house on photo
Wanna know what's inside that thing
11 million, like all monetary amounts, is relative.
hey
a friend of mine just told me that pro csgo players earn 20-25k cash per month? how much do owl players make per month?
i'm trying to tell him that owl > csgo tournaments
Winston your friend is using anecdotal, and bad information. He's comparing top tier players which there are maybe 4-5 of total.
And attributing it across the board.
At which point someone like Decay with a rumored 300,000/yr would be equal.
You just didn't fact check him properly before entering into an argument.
You'd want to argue averages, which no one has access to.
For instance its the equivalent argument (just because I know league minimum) of me saying Major League Baseball players have $35 million salaries. But thats just the salary for one pitcher - your average player makes the league minimum which is $570k.
Yeah its a forum.
That's like me asking Reddit who the best player in OW is.
There's literally no actual information or evidence in a forum.
I'd wipe my ass with it and flush it as a source of information.
Hence my: Maple Story 2 players make 75k a month 😛
It's easy to say random things with no factual information or back up.
I have a hard time believing CSGO pros make less than OW pros
just simply given the amount of time existing between the two
@limber pine it's based on how marketable csgo players are, which is sad to say, not a lot, based on the audience
well i was only asking how much owl players are makin per month
No one knows.
We know the league minimum is 50k.
And that most players are above it.
But not by how much, etc.
i dont wanna discuss how much csgo pro's are doin. i know sk.se players made 2k gran per month 15 yrs ago, only with cs gaming
50k per month? 😮
huge
Per year.
So the only factual statement you can make is that the absolute minimum is $4166/month.
Again though, you have no proof of that.
You linked a forum.
Is it true? Probably for an absolute top tier team. One of the ones that are always Top 3.
Is it every CSGO player?
You'd be an absolute moron to believe that.
i ain't gonna read the whole crap. i just posted you the link cuz u were sayin he is mis-informed 😄 just gave you what he gave me.
he also said though .. 20k a moth also with all the sponsoring crap and all that
There's no actual financial documents that state what they make. They're not organized.
The only reason we can make a claim for OWL is because they released documentation explaining their minimum pay requirements.
CSGO isn't done the same way.
It's org per org.
well whatever they make .. they make more than we do, just with gaming 24/7
I mean the absolute best of them probably do.
The low to mid levels?
Probably not.
well i am talking about players of teams like fnatic, sk, g2, c9. the big teams.
ofc low to mid levels ain't makin lotsa cash
if any
But yeah until all the e-sports are league based etc, and we get financials we have no clue what the others make.
We also technically don't know what OWL makes.
Just the absolute minimum they can make.
how much do these LoL kids win per tournament?
Most of NYXL is rumored to make 6 figures.
Which would make sense.
But rumors are rumors.
My guess is London probably all makes six figures a year too.
Then they won the $1 million from the finals (500k of which is meant to go to players)
Im more curious how much did shanghai make?
Them being so shit made them marketable to hell
Original Shanghai was probably more towards the minimum.
Would be my guess.
It makes choosing not top tier players easier to sneak by at the start.
KDP Shanghai?
They're probably getting some solid money.
I would assume so also, but, they made a lot in merch because everyone kind of rooted for them
William Ding seems to be putting a LOT of cash into this team now.
Between their new facility, multiple chefs, etc.
But the dudes also made of monery.
So its not like he cares.
As of... 11/12/18 his net worth has dropped to 13.4 billion 😛
And Netease is just a cash cow.
Probably not
for the most part, the full rosters have been leaked or rumored
no females among them
I doubt it honestly
Geguri may have been the first stepping stone, but bluntly she was on the worst team in the league
Doesn't exactly put them in a good light. Coming from a female I realize that may have made companies apprehensive towards recruit other females.
Sad to say that likely happened, but, it's the all too depressing truth
She played well enough, but her playing well doesn't change the general mentality.
I don't think her play would make anyone apprehensive though, she was super marketable.
And, not to be crude, she's honestly not that attractive too. So if you can get a big draw of marketability from someone not standard pretty - if you can find one that is you know it'll crush.
she just ran around like a 'boy' .. how dare you saying she ain't attractive? 😄
and yea, joining SHD wasn't the best idea
SHD likely the only team willing to give her a chance
you think?
I mean, you look at the teams at the bottom of the standings (SFS, Dallas, Florida, SHD). Florida went with Zappis (connections with the Finnish players), SFS went X6-Gaming with Choi and Architect.
I guess there was a chance with Dallas but they stayed in house
which fits their MO
I don't think anybody else was looking for an offtank
#mytwocents
Uber coming to Philadelphia
anyone know when the expansion team's merch is going on sale?
i rly want a chengdu jersey
Not yet
It would make a good holiday gift, but I don't see it happening until late January at the latest
Guangzhou colors are slick
I was wondering what's we have seen these cookies before in game, and someone incorrectly printed out that the lotus is their national flower when I already sent them this
What tier would Chengdu Hunters be in OWL
Well the fact that monte had to fly over there
fortnite lol
And golden boy is there
fortnite breakthough esport of the year because there was money thrown at it
What do you expect with CS:Go community
As if the go community had an incentive to make the sport look bigger
Monte just can't let an opportunity to make it about himself pass by
But isn't it a point to drive some comedy when you come on stage?
this award is just aweful
the crowd is just chatting and getting drunk
they aren't paying attention at all
they are just having a good time
well he has been known for one thing
his entire esports career
in both notable games
so I mean 🤷
Spitfire has a chance

Fan submitted though, so more realistic is these players earlier in the year

UBren
goldenboy is everywhere
SOE
Omg monte ripping his shirt at owwc
Didn't even try with uber really
He could have won and imagine the new levels of awks if they expected a British lad
Low effort
You could replace monte with a clip of bren
It wouldn't matter if they weren't runners up in the category
I think there's a second category for Soe and the casters, don't recall
Okay gamers, now this is Epic.
Y I K E S
😂
he fooled someone
He did a troll move on stage
@sullen berry the Epic guy was going to stage tho

"that's the last time we bring a YouTuber to announce an award"
Was his only feature that he punched another YouTuber

Since they threw money at it
It's just epic sponsoring one of many tournaments iirc

the OW way
Damn, quite a few OW players in the running

Scuf gaming... pretty apt sponsor
Unrelated to stream, but I found a user fan poll on weibo and they just love Chinese teams for their logos smh
Every other team in that poll was below 5%
Let's go
Org of the year
Don't c9 on your award this year
YASS

LONDON / C9 WOOT
Confirmed money does make the esports world go round

welp
You don't jebait like that, it's pretty shitty
He's playing the 200iq game
Major controversy putting a YouTuber on stage
Announces the wrong team intentionally
A slew of tweets at the awards come in
???
Profit wins

Hunters Orisa skin
I should’ve saved more owl tokens
I didn't expect 8 new teams
That's a lot of skins if they're planning to improve the base look of the previous ones
Valiant for example
Getting a darker shade of green next season
They were always talking about 6 new teams, with a possibility of a couple more down the track - so when they announced 8, it was a bit odd.
hmm
I quite like Valiant's current green though 👀
20 teams, not odd
7 games per stage, strange
But playoffs will be bigger and more engaging
@hidden osprey what dray said when he posted that link: "Valiant seems to disagree with you"
Their junk rat skin already has that darker green color going already
Seems like a very Dray thing to say
So it's going to be an awkward flex when all the other heroes drop 3-4 levels darker green
And you won't be expected to pay more for the change in primary color
Only reason why I say I like it, is because their jerseys look pretty good in the current lighter green
Going to wait for Vancouver to see if it affects me enough to use my leftover Tokens on them instead
lucio valiant skin might look a lot more drastic than junkrat
A friendly reminder that these never appear in game during matches and is part of the spectator client
How many awards did Blizzard/OW/OWL win?
Blizzard won 1 award, London got 2nd for esports team, Overwatch won best esports game, OWL Finals won best esports Event
Cloud9 won best ORG aka Londons ORG
@frozen perch
To be fair
OW players also lost a lot of awards.
or came 2nd /3rd
But people have to remember the votes where taken from the beginning of the year to now.
The best time to have voted was either last week when the ads were rolling or three months back
I recall putting in votes strictly for overwatch
The 24 awards are all open to community vote; with the community accounting for 25% of the overall vote. The Panel makes up the final 75% of the vote.
WHAT
how is that even fair
A group of 17 > everyone else
Exactly my thought
Why would I vote only for monte & Co to veto for something other than Overwatch League talent?
These panels are really limited in what info they get about overwatch
If they hear NYXL did great during the season
But never made it to grand finals
They must have been a bad team
For overwatch to have such an esports presence amongst the fortnite and the CS:Go LOL and Dota players /streamers, this is a great pull of awards
no recruitment here thanks
Wait did kephrii actually join a contenders team
Wait did a contenders team actually accept Kephrii?
yes
Did I type 'wait'? Maybe I should have said 'why'? 😃
Watch our newest contenders team member @Kephrii live right now on twitch https://t.co/mh0Q85r0Vv
Kephrii did it
The madman
What contenders team are they?
Korea contenders
Korea?!
He uses a list of korean callouts on his second monitor to communicate with his team
Since he can’t speak korean
So he couldn't get a gig with an American team and has to play with a 200 ping?
No, he’s going to Korea
WTF?
How good is Kephrii? I always hear stuff about his aim.
He's 'ok'.
I think Korea might be a huge awakening for him if he ends up going
Is Kephrii the new Kruise?
@round obsidian it's not PAC contendies?
I never known kanga had a overwatch team
I thought PAC was the team name
And global esports was like a Twitter acc for news n shit
Their names are confusing

We have been informed by Blizzard that we will be forced to remove “Toronto” from our brand in only 6 weeks. Mid Contenders season 3. The reason cited: @TorontoDefiant have purchased “exclusive naming rights”. We will be leaving Overwatch effective immediately. Go...
That's thoroughly fucked.
Well, whoever's running that twitter account certainly isn't doing themselves any favours.
Their Twitter was horrendous
I'm very quickly seeing that. There's a lot of "Good riddance" responses to their tweets already heh.
They're not just burning bridges, they're dousing it with petrol. And magnesium.
At the rate they're going I wouldn't be surprised if they coated it in potassium then dropped it in a lake too.
Soaked in kerosene and used as chafing fuel
I do not have the ability at the moment to address the recent or current decision out of @TOesports and we were not part of the decision at all. That being said we retain ownership of all the player and staff contracts and ownership over the contenders slot.
so... Kraft owned the Contenders slot and were allowing TO to operate it?
Did Activision/Bliz make it a requirement for the new teams to also run academy/development/contenders teams?
So it sounds like...
The players just get management that won't be fucking reprobate levels of stupid on their twitter.
Eh.
Win win for the players.
And Lose lose for the now ex-CEO of "Toronto esports"
What a time to make that decision final
@round obsidian you should check out Pacific contenders, we have patiphan and that one guy who popped off carpe as part of Honk Kong Attitude
And now Kephrii
Thanks to OWWC
I have a handful of Contenders players from every region worth watching for
Nice work blizz

now that's a thonker
nothing to see here
🎃
glad TOE is done
their media and pr was an embarassment
hope that boston keep the players and give a proper academy team a go
jesus christ the esports awards actually hired this fool LMAOOO https://t.co/FJND9J3YQM
956
3949
Oh jesus

Gg to the team that Kephrii joined
so 3 new american and asian teams and only 1 european team
?
stupid crap thinkin of blizz
first of all, there's 2 canadian teams, 2 american teams, 3 chinese teams, and 1 french team
and i'm pretty sure it wasn't stupidity that drove them to those cities
it was investors
european investors are typically more risk-adverse and didn't seem to flock to the owl
unlike investors in china and north america, comparatively
i don't know what you expected
There should have been a second korean team
Maybe no big investors in Busan or Seoul has a binding agreement to keep their monopoly over SK
Hinting at the fact that they wont let London Spitfire host a fan meetup in South Korea
Just for regional control
All these Csgo kids salty af in the comments
@lilac atlas i don't think so
an investor group representing busan was in negotiations for season 2 but didn't commit, as far as i know
somewhat similarly chicago was interested for season 1 but didn't return to the table for season 2
I wasnt sure about the investor situation, but overall its a shame there isnt another South korea team
It could be another rivalry like Dallas vs Houston, LAV vs LAG, etc
I'm sure there will be for Season 3 - because I dont' think Blizzard was even expecting quite as much growth in teams for S2.
It's just stupid because EU has essentially locked themselves out of the OWL.
Because if they're being risk averse and cheap now and we see a standard franchising uptick they won't be jumping in any time soon.
Assuming rumors are true and Season 1 was ~20M, Season 2 was ~35M we can assume Season 3 would be 45-50M.
Busan for GC Busan:(((
i think the likelihood is extremely high for season 3
The question becomes more about team caps.
I dont' think they'll do more than 'traditional sports' and over the next 2 seasons (if it continues that long) will only add 10-12 more teams total.
Most sports now have ~30-32 teams and don't actively look to add more.
So my best guess for the future is that other areas that want representation have two years to do it.
And thats mostly an american number.
I believe globally the Premier League only has like.. 20 teams, I know NRL (National Rugby League) only has 16ish teams.
I guess it depends on how much buyin they'll have in 2-3 years
i don't think 20 is bad
now
20 is a good spot, but I could see them wanting more because (in my opinion) more teams is a healthier league for all involved
It's also, as a trickle down, better for Contenders which they seem to try and focus on.
If you've got 30-32 orgs and 75% of them maintain academy teams that's a nice boost to S2 with little/no involvement by Blizzard which is a solution they enjoy 😛
I believe all would have academy teams
Cause two-way contract
And business
You think they would do bidding for every year?
Premier league works on promotion relegation though
Top winners would be invited back
Fresh teams every season
The rest needs to bid?
that definitely won't be happening with owl
Teams need to pay to retain their spot?
@queen drift I was more using it as a baseline for number - they tend to stick around the 20 mark.
I don't see all owl teams would stick for every season
They will, they have to. They just get bought by other people.
There will always be a Fusion, for instance.
Its why team names were not allowed to be reflected around organizations, etc.
Blizzard retains the team until it is.
I need an A to B comparison
At least thats how most sports franchising works if they're modeled after NBA/NFL.
Which Blizzard seems to be doing.
Dallas Fuel did not have a contenders team to scrim with during season 1
Envy?
Season 1 was before OWL wasn't it?
It was from August to September 2017.
Yeah:
Start Date:2017-08-19
End Date:2017-10-08
Season 2 was first season that Academy Teams would have existed.
Also almost all the scrimming in Season 1 was against other OWL teams if you didn't have 12 players afaik
I wonder if they are going to unlock all the owl games for the owwc
That will be a gold mine
Jayne would be loaded
i mean they literally tested it for the owl at the wc
I'm just wondering if they're going to tie it into something financial.
I'd like to hope not, but the pragmatist in me says thats a shitty business decision.
can someone tell me if the update required you to uninstall the game then reinstalled it cause it got really buggy for me
so i dont have to uninstall it myself then reinstall it?
no
No, the update should do it for you.
okay thanks
@pearl stratus Re "Most sports now have ~30-32 teams and don't actively look to add more." - 30 teams is a bloody stupid number if you don't have the fanbase to support it.
The AFL operated for a long time with 16 teams, we're only recently seeing it having expanded to 20 teams - OWL certainly doesn't have the same fanbase/revenue as AFL. Its total revenue for season 1 was approximately around the same range as the NRL, despite operating in an economy 15 times the size.
@pearl stratus that'd be the barrier to creating OWL content raised, Activision Blizzard would not pass up the financial incentive same way they wouldn't be any more generous with OW League tokens prior to just giving them away on stream
one is either to crossover with all access pass, because this is what the people really wanted when they said "multiple camera angles"
Do you guys/gals think Ashe would be a game changer in OWL?
No
lol, quick no!
But the brig nerf has started up a lot of conversation
Yeah.. discussed it with our t2 coach, no one is expecting ashe to replace like sombra or anything. She'll be useful in some maps, but not a huge game changer
when orisa was introduced, not immediately
wrecking ball is still carving out a niche as contenders have had the most competitive experience
With jeffs say about what they are testing with brig, the Meta is going to open up a lot more
If it goes through
i hope that the patch in january is reasonable
that would be the first one in and ready for the OW League in Feb
Sources: Sydney Dropbears & Team Australia Main Tank Ashley “Trill” Powell will be playing in NA Contenders this season, after signing with Team Envyus
Good shit, a main tank upgrade
i don't know about that
mccree has a faster ttk
ashe almost feels more like the mid-range sniper role hanzo occupied
I wonder if she actually makes a dent in goats or not with dynamite tbh, I think that'll be hugely important for her role going forward
^only with a headshot.
yes and?
McCree and Ashe bring different things
McCree's burst is a little better
Ashe is more Hanzo than McCree really
@magic zinc She'll do some. As the design guy said on Surefours stream she provides a zero sum solution for passive healing while the Dynamite is up.
It's not as strong as an Ana nade, but it still zeroes one of them out.
It's not exactly a coincide her TnT explosion (burn) does 16.6 dps, and both Lucio and Brigitte passive heal for 16hps.
any news anticipated for today/tomorrow?
somebody said the spark were announcing tomorrow
pink blue skin though?
that's the theory
The mock ups someone made looked pretty good actually, in a weird way.
so good that it * might * be legit
problem with it is the spark team logo implies we know they have the blue in them, but not the pink
Mykl saying france player threw during world cup huh
That's rubbish
can you really expect french contenders players looking to be up there with the owl players throwing any match that wasn't groups though
benbest and winz had no reason to imply they were throwing in their semis/bronze matches
at the very least France couldn't even try to throw when your opponents included an underwhelming Germany, and less mechanically solid Italy/poland/netherlands
@limber pine based apparently cause winz on the France team didn't get picked for owl and said he's quitting overwatch altogether
That literally doesn't make any sense
It is quite confusing
I mean lets be fair - Winz probably should have retired/switched games a while ago.
He's old, generally bad attitude, and was never actually that great.
People mention his Rogue days but his job in those days was 90% to sit on the cart and not even work with the other 5 people 😛
But I don't think he was throwing.
I just don't think he was a good pick for their roster.
He was picked mostly because of AKM - would be my guess.
World cup feels like the best chance for contenders players to actually get picked for owl
Not for DPS in this meta, sadly.
At least thats how I feel.
The only team that effectively showed off DPS was China and SK.
@green stump Like Fusion?
@karmic grotto fusion and another uk member got picked up
Boston always playing moneyball
it wouldn't shock me if they liked what they saw before Blizzcon
but Blizzcon certainly solidified it
The problem with World Cup this year is that GOATS as a meta really makes your DPS not look appealing for pick ups.
Because they're rarely actually playing DPS.
So you don't see any flex from them at all.
So they're useless.
@limber pine you make it sound more like it's a dang brothel XD
2017 was the year for tanks
good strategic callouts, in fact they were incredibly apparent when you have taimou play MT and unsurprisingly didn't work out
"You really typed this all up" sums that deleted post quite nicely
Pft, 2016 you mean? Remember when Ana gave +speed and +healing?'
NanoRein
InvulnerRein.
that was a time to be a support main
what time when sombra was being shoehorned as the off-support
When your choices of support were Mercy, Ana, Lucio or Zenyatta.
And Zenyatta wasn't really viable at all, 150 health and all.
and EMP just failed compared to the one we have now
EMP/Sombra wasn't around back then.
post 2016 blizzcon, true
Sombra got about as much pla as Sym in comps, she wasn't viable at all
For tobi you were a god when it came to being the lucio main
those skins man
Joke video?
i feel bad for that reaper
@gaunt acorn what u think of the hangzhou skins
@woeful portal ..ya
LMAO
i love this!!
golden mcdonalds bob happy meal toy
Godammm away skins so sick
i'd like to see how the hangzhou skins look in-game anyhow
@vagrant niche where did you get the away skin
oh you said
PTR bruh
i wonder what that means, though
will we be able to buy them with owl tokens i guess?
they were unlocked for the skins i already got
ye
so you buy a skin and get home + away
ye
okay that's epic cool
nice
i like this change
kind of makes the whole "buy all-access pass to get 12 away skins" pointless now though
well that was a scam to begin with
not sure why people even bothered with it other than the paid amas
Lol wtf. Hangzhou Hello-kitty?
@gaunt acorn Not entirely. You would have to buy all 12 of those individual skins... AAP was a bit useless already in that it was 12 roughly random skins noone really wanted, probably.
i already owned nearly all of the included skins
prior to purchasing it
i really just bought it for the player icon and away skins
man, the away skins are so good
excited for spark's future plays
tried to find the roster before it got released but only found one member (?) so far
i dont keep up with esports as often as i should but bilibili earns an eyebrow raise from me
these skins? now both my eyebrows are raised lol
Well I'm impressed yesterday's leaks were true
I translated their fan page on weibo

I think we have a new contender for taking away Shanghai's Loss record, if they don't even take themselves seriously.
@upper niche doubtful
hangzhou has arguably the strongest roster of the chinese teams
^^^
chengdu is believed to be the weakest
the hunters will become the hunted
or something like that
Would be funny if they surprise everyone
Same with Hangzhou performing around Mayhem/Dragons level.
People thought Dragons were going to perform well after all!
not really
you can revisit the reveal thread on /r/competitiveoverwatch
most of the comments are people asking why they didn't recruit miraculous youngster
who are these people
etc
Link please dray?
shanghai was never thought to be great
nobody expected 0-40, but
they weren't hyped up much
neither were mayhem other than tviq
hangzhou has guxue who proved to be insane at world cup
and other proven chinese talent
But aren't we trying to figure out these rosters in about a months' time?
hm?
they haven't revealed it, no
There's only footage from their announcement with montages of like 4 people confirmed
although they basically confirmed guxue today
something about world cup winston
Tanks
Qiulin "guxue" Xu
Da-un "NoSmite" Jeong
Seong-Wook "Ria" Park
DPS
Kyeong-bo "GodsB" Kim
Jun-Ki "Bazzi" Park
Shilong "Krystal" Cai
Jae-hwan "Adora" Kang
Supports
Hui-chang "BeBe" Yoon
Hyeong-Geun "Revenge" An
Ho-jin "iDK" Park
Is it wrong that I enjoy this clip way too much after FiveKing has left the roster?
https://clips.twitch.tv/DeafObservantShingleKeyboardCat
@sullen berry here, too
this one has more juicy comments
@ruby pendant as you can see, most people did not think shanghai was going to do well

Dragon had a match with SK early on, and think people thought they performed well. I agree, that people felt better players could have been chosen.
wow, i've just seen the news about taimou saying that atleast 20 OWL players are using aderall and that blizzard ain't going for drug / doping tests in near future ...
i KNEW that some players are totally on aderall, etc pp 😦
Also, waiting to see how Leave, and etc perform. Taimou was suppose to one of the best dps in OWL based on performance in world cup and previous Overwatch tournaments. There so much hype targeted towards him.
Unfortunately, didn't meet up to expectations. Rather be cautious.
@gaunt acorn How about this? You think Hangzhou will be top 6 OWL? I'm not buying hype yet!
@ruby pendant top 6? i'm really not sure
i haven't given much thought to proper pre-season rankings
but i think they will be the best chinese team
either them or shanghai
ouh, atlanta having the first german OWL player?!
looking forward to see how he'll perform 😃
and, did sdb leave phili or did phili traded him for paris?
@idle beacon not anymore
they have quit overwatch and now boston will rename the team
the roster, staff, etc all belong to boston still
will probably be "uprising academy" from now on
ok thx
was wondering because on liquipedia Fusions got traded from british hurricanes to uprising / toronto
@idle beacon SDB got released from Philly then signed to Paris
They left Contenders because they werent allowed to use Toronto in their name anymore
Because of the Toronto Defiant
But its not the first time TES did something dumb.
Toronto will probably get a new contenders team to be the Defiant academy team
@limpid estuary toronto esports was never associated with toronto defiant
they were the academy team for boston
I know
and boston still retains control over everything
so a simple rebranding will suffice
Its not gonna be simple rebranding
stupid move overall by the owner
They're just gonna move it out from TES entirely
well yes
i mean to say boston doesn't need to buy the players or anything
they still retain control of the players/slot and will simply operate it directly from now on
or get another org to do it for them
Defiant should name their Academy team "Toronto Sports"
Tbh the top 6 will probably be the same teams
Maybe Seoul will replace Valiant
Other than that not much has changed, experience will carry first season teams through
Bottom 5.
My prediction for 2019 is that London will be a stronger, more consistent team BUT the games theylose will be upsets. They have a better W/L ratio overall, and lose to a couple of big teams, but also to some bottom teams thy should have cleaned up.
it's not like london was ever particularly good in the regular season past stage 1
so i agree
Yeah - I think they'll be more like Stage 1 all the way through this time, like NYXL. Except with S4 ;p
still don't know how they won the grand finals
imo its a shame london won
they were garbage for most of the season
philly deserved it
nyxl threw a stage for playoffs
london threw 3 stages
i found the philly vs nyxl match more exciting than the grand final
London went fuckin super saiyan
Dont think anyone would have predicted Shocking beating LAV the other week either
were they playing with or without soon?
Yes
...?
..!
was soon playing or not
Not a clue
so why answer
wait, there are league offseason games?
Soon is not on Valiant anymore
They got rid of their frenchies
Tbh they shouldn’t have been the ones to sign them, only because rogue got shafted did other teams not pick them up
The pair would have done great on Houston
Spark is pink

likely, yes
I image that's likely today or tomorrow, given the pattern of announcements
still awhile for vancouver
I actually just want to know whats going on with Custa tbh.
He's the bigger part of Wholesome Watch.
Also the last Shock vs. LAV cup people were debating early was apparently janky AF. Bunny got a potato computer and was getting lower fps and input lag.
what happened to Custa
@gaunt acorn you thinking Vancouver will be a beast?
custa was the support player, right?
Custa won't be streaming for "an indefinite amount of time" - Clipped by sherl0k
Yes
@limber pine Fox linked it, but no longer streaming for an indefinite amount of time.
Said it was personal, not that big a deal.
But I'm nosy.
interesting to me that he clarified he CAN'T stream
not that he would be busy trying to find time, didnt want to, etc
Yeah but its all super vague. Could be LAV, could be other things, could be his neighbors.
I remember at his last apartment he got multiple, multiple noise complaints.
So he was streaming in silence with only facial expressions.
wasnt that before LA though?
Pretty sure it was during Season 1
the top comment in the reddit thread said that he said later in the stream that it was nothing serious
I mean that's just PR though.
And thats why I was thinking of the neighbor situation,.
Or maybe for focus and health LAV doesn't want people streaming after scrim hours for wrist/finger health, mental health, etc.
That's not a big deal.
I heard that defiant wanted pink skins at 1st?

Is this true?
latter color comb looks nice
if TD wanted to be pink, there'd be parts of the skin that were grey instead of white
like the logo on Zen's orbs
soonTM
No, Soons on France.
the away skins are on the ptr now
And not the bench.
buh dum tssh
@limber pine @hidden vault no it's true
that's a fan mock-up, no official screenshots were released
but toronto was indeed pursuing pink
this was prior to runaway signing with vancouver
Defiant's Red+Black looks smooth and crisp, I like it.
I like the color pink but that filter makes the color pink look gotti
Can't just admit he's a mediocre T3 support, maybe - maybe T2.
@pearl stratus be surprised how much you can apply that to a lot of 'pro' players
Yet some of his other team france players got into owl...
🤔
Wasn't that the case for Dragons?
yeah
Don't think Dragons had appropriate tryouts either.
There could be some truth is what winz is saying.
Not saying he deserves to be in the league though!
It's a widely accepted opinion that the best Chinese players didn't play on Shanghai.
Their situation is largely different than Winz
He stopped playing pro OW for a long time
and then gets upset that he's not getting picked up
Yes, there are politics involved with OWL (especially in Season 1), but Winz hasn't done himself any favors.
It just comes off as sour grapes
I think he's not as annoyed that he's not getting picked up, rather he's saying he doesnt care because he didnt try / didnt want to try
but didnt try because he knew he wouldnt get in
and that's just a terrible attitude to have
+1
i mean didnt he retire originally because he didnt get into owl to begin with?
He leeched off his brothers shadow for a long fucking time.
Which is literally politics.
I am still, and will always be, convinced that he only made it on to the OWWC team as a way to make AKM happy
interesting views, I agree he seems a bit sore
There are much much better french supports.
so no one here like winz?
you don't think he could have been a sub for practice scrims?
He's not good enough and his mentality is shit.
He's like...
You ever find sea glass before?
That's Winz.
He's just washed up.
Hyp would most likely have performed better.

that's sweet
Oh shit
@magic zinc hmmmmm interesting
Only for Americans though yikes
Or an international student studying in America
I still applied although for a different internship (as a European) hoping they will let me pay for my own visa (and if I didnt apply I'd kick myself)
lol 'intern'. In the US.
I found out the other day that we have an intern program running here at work where we pay interns $41+ per hour. Ie, the equivalent of $85k full time.
Blizzard handles your accomodation it looks pretty sweet tbh
Is it full time?
I don't know, with US internships. Probably be indirectly responsible for these twitter account's gif react posts and hopefully doing a much better job around them
Jlulke
nvm
i was going to talk about the houston outlaws but the emote didn't work
