I don't like the OWL playoff system - but there are worse systems. However I wish theyd fix their naming
They had to completely over-complicate it by calling the first set of finals 'Quarter Finals' when they should have just call them the 'First Elimination Final' and 'Second Elimination Final'.
ie, that game eliminates one team, and then the remainder of semis are based on ranking. You don't have to explain it as re-seeding, which just unnecessarily complicates it.

it's also not great for broadcast. double elim is good for regional tournaments where you have points accumulations and want to get good value from a large number of games being played.
I was playing around in my head with a diferent system - I don't know exactly how it would work - where you might have something like 1 plays both 6 and 3, and 2 plays both 4 and 5, and the difference between the scores is what those teams need to win by to advance when they then play each other.
like I said I don't know how it would work in detail it was just an idea, but it would avoid that issue of higher seeds going in 'cold', and be good for fans getting to see their team more often.
