I got the OWL fever
I AM DISCUSSIONING ESPORTSSS
can't wait for owl reee
GO LA VALIANT

Anyone here from MA. HOME TEAM!
ayye
did anyone teams run ana throughout OWL?
ping me if you can rememebr the match so i can watch the vod
@full gorge Fuel ran Ana on defence numbani in their second match
alSO HOW DARE PEOPLE FORGET CUSTA

against dallas?
dallas is fuel
i mean houston
it was against mayhem

fuel's first match was against houston outlaws
second match was against florida mayhem
chips didn't really play ana much at all iirc
i dont recall much ana play generally
i didn't watch seoul dynasty so i don't really know when/if ryujehong played any ana
no worries
Jehong mostly played Zen but I think he played a little Ana. Can't remember what match though.

Jehong played Ana on numbani defense vs Outlaws and NYXL
they used the same strat vs. both teams
was pretty cool 👏
rotate nanoing miro and tobi molten coreing
well only viable on first point defense
and even there i'd have questions about Ana over Mercy
LOL
hahahahaha
META ATHENA vs. LGD Nexus Cup English ReCast - Return of the Ham - Unofficial AF
LUNATIC-HAI vs. X6 GAMING Nexus Cup English ReCast - Unofficial AF - SickDayGaming
x6 won first map? monkaS
Kephrii has a team ?
No, most of the pros don't like him
for good reason
they're jealous obv
none of them can buy adderall that cheap
kephrii has a team for the rumble happening on friday i think?
he has a team with some streamers, they're gonna get terribly bodied considering they're playing against korean/contenders level teams
why you guys sleeping on the Meme Dream Team
What OWL do yall suport? Im a
because we dont have a team in our area and i like the players on that team.
not really supporting any team, but favourites are def
and
Ah
I would support seol buuut korea always wins most esports.. so i want to see how they do this year, both dallas fuel and seol dynasty are undefeated
and
he's good on ladder with his flank plays yes, but that dosent help him at all in pro matches
did you watch SF play at all?
vs. valient, yes
i was not impressed especially by him compared to the other western supports at all
I think they need to be more conservative with their support ults
The entire team needs work on their ult economy
which isn't that hard 🤔
they aren't jealous of keph
but i don't think you'll like someone accusing you of cheating/manipulating stuff in your own job
how is this related to esports though 🤔
idk which team to support
thats not how terms of service works
you cant sue a company for "violating their own TOS"
they have arbituary right
their ip their rules
that was a dumb ass read
My iq is now lower after reading it
law professor btw

suing blizz because you broke their rules and got banned, sounds about right
smh
which is the best winston player i can learn from?
miro/mano
xqc is a great winston player as well, but i haven't seen him perform well in major tourney's, owl might give more insight into his gameplay
xqc out of sheer amount of streaming, he's almost always streaming so you can catch him live. Whenever miro or mano is up, you can switch to them but they dont speak english (neither does xqc lul)
xqcSkull
Xqc cause he streams a lot and tries to go for pogchamp moments.
xQc just played his ass off at the WC
a
who is xqc's doggie

@bronze sparrow wrong channel my friend
when did i ever open esports discussion
Who do you guys think is the best dva player?
Which style of dva?
Since you ask dive and peel
Me
no me
smex
@hidden vault it is universally understood that coolmatt is number one or two dva in the world. He doesn’t stream tho. Best English speaking dva pro streamer? Easily space_ow
eh if you dont include micke i guess he can be considered the best
also space is a contender for the spot
I see thanks guys!!!
Idk, mickie makes a ton of mistakes. Watched mykles analysis of the outlaws vs fuel game. Mickie is a large part of why they lost a few maps, including dorado.
I wouldn’t put him even in top 5 but that’s what makes esports great. Opinions and discussions!
Mickie is easily the best team player from a positivity and personality standpoint
Take everything mykl say with a huge grain of salt, i've not watched that video but he prays building support with saying controversial things
he have a extremely biased personality
I don’t like mykle and agree with you. I rarely watch any of his content. The analysis was actually pretty good tho
you don't like THE KING??
I don’t like anyone who calls themselves a king lol
I dont see a point of memeing about him considering the shit management he had in kungarna during contenders
he calls himself #2 everything
god's gift to esports
The point wasn’t to being up mykle but just his video about how much a role off tanks play in the game.
they do , but nV's playstyle is very focused around supporting timo, supporting timo means that there will be less support everywhere else - such as on cocco/xqc and supports
false
ever since effect joined the team, he has been the core
everyone plays around him and most plays happen due to effect
timo even said that ever since effect joined the team, his role shifted from being the main "star" dps to a side "supporting" dps
then again envy/dallas is in a weird spot,
their best zarya player is their main star player, their best road player is the supporting dps, their best winston player is not their main tank and mickie is a decent orisa, but not as good as xqc
harryhook is probably the best soldier in the team and usually plays support
chips is an amazing ana, but the meta has not been kind to him
Sounds like those line up issues could be easily adjusted
I have no idea why mickie was the orisa instead of xqc
Really
Mickie dva yes, but orisa hmm?
out of the 4 superchargers, 3 were instantly destroyed
and the one that survived was kinda pointless
against mayhem that is
Didn't he put it behind cover?
Just put it behind his shield and only Rein's firestrike could easily destroy it
mhm
not gonna lie
mayhem
is garbagio
also dallas is like 2nd best so if you say anything else youre wrong
to be fair, it felt like dallas was memeing around a lot in the pre-season
so them putting mickie on orisa was probably more just some fun action that wouldnt happen too much in normal season

What is OWL exactly? I know it's Overwatch League, but I know nothing else about it.
It's a Blizzard Organised League for OW Pro Esports. It's meant to be the top league for Overwatch much like the CSGO Majors or The International for DOTA2. 12 franchises compete in 4 stages in the regular season and top 6 teams compete in the playoffs for 1 million dollar prize.
@molten ermine
Wow! Cool!
3 Franchises are outside the USA: London Spitifre, Seoul Dynast and Shanghai Dragons
Rest are all American Teams
Okay. Where can I watch matches?
Matches are gonna start in January and it's officially streamed on Overwatchleague.com and MLG. Possibly twitch but no official statements regarding it has been said yet
Thank you! I can't wait to watch them! :3
Same 😄
Who are you rooting for? :3
London Spitifires
Cool. :3

I was just looking at them. :3

@limber pine Confirmed Supports Mythical creatures
lul
I don't think it's the same and drama, it's more like he keeps getting triggered by people
People keep annoying him more than before he was in owl
why arent the pros
playing symmetra?
like ive never seen it
Torb and bastion once
if you had pro-level aim
wouldn't you rather play a hero where aim is required
rather than an insta-lock beam
Overwatch isnt about aim...
can people understand that
it can make you kill easier
but its not like cs
because every other hero in the roster is better then symmetra
Who is watching the Overwatch Heroes Rumble today?

At the pro level, the game has more focus on mechanical skill, the main reason that they don't play sym is that she can easily be countered
Jack in the box, sponsored by
what did he do
What's this heroes rumble thing on play overwatch's twitch
@waxen blaze
🤦
Wow a lot of people hate xqc in that post

P sure he had a bad day that time, he usually takes comp seriously
that's no excuse for throwing
True
and his subsequent flaming of rascal
I'm not defending him, I'm just making a theory since this is not his usual self
Idk what beef he has with rascal
rascal called him out
caught him on stream
then xQc trash-talked him
and said he deserved an apology, not vice-versa

Asking for an apology is Def a wrong move
XQC is kinda reminding me of dafran weirdly
Yep
xQc has had a great influx of views recently, perhaps he can't handle the popularity and it's stressing him out perhaps?
Pretty sure he is getting burnt out just like dafran
He scrims for however many hours
mhm, It's all too familiar
He played what, 20+ games in comp per stream?
He needs to slow down
But, I fear he'll do something rash soon
worse than this rascal situation
He probably is getting warnings from his team managers to stop whatever he's doing
I don't think it'll be as bad as dafran
It'll be more damaging if it's like dafran
as he's in an actual ow league team, to which he's meant to be showcasing the best of the best
Which he is incredibly good at ow, but the attitude is really pulling him down
so he threw a game, i see
and the re-add talk is sarcasm
hmm, i think he needs a break
Definitely
Did you know you can't say "lmao" on the Twitch PlayOverwatch channel?
lmao
Lol
hmm the bitrate on twitch is kinda weird
Why do people even like xQc????
I like him because he's a good tank player in the game. Although I don't like his attitude.
I like Sinatraa, because he's a good player, but I still think he's toxic. And when I do watch him it will be muted.
dunno apart from that fallout xqc had i didnt really think he has a bad attitude
Learning from top players is great, but you won't learn what's good attitude from them
that's what I like, he has ambition for the game
that being said, i cant stand that hyper attitude so i never really watch him either
a bit too hyped at times, but that's just to cater for his audience
I mostly just watch korean players though now, I never know when they're being toxic since I don't know the language
ignorance is bliss I guess
And he's MVP of Overwatch lol
T-Mobile MVP
ftfy
I wonder if he's gonna get punished?
he most certainly will
I mean, Overwatch wants to have a postive face for esports? And having the whole xQc meltdown doesn't help especially if they want other people to think that esports should be respected.
They really need sportsmanlike conduct.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of this kind of over the top stream personality
i think he should do the same thing as seagull, ignore his stream rather then trying to both be a pro player and a streamer
I miss Seagull's streams
Who are some of the players in the league I should watch on stream?
Any on right now?
I only see Carpe online atm of the OWL players, but he's in korea so he's streaming in Korean
so nothing to watch atm i'm afraid
Is there anyone I should keep an eye out for?
Whether they’re extremely skilled players or just great stream personalities?
Cuz I’m trying to find a player/team to support but can’t decide
It all depends kinda what stream personas you prefer, i can for instance recommend
saebyeolbe from NYXL, probably the best tracer in the world, super cheerful guy
Fissure, tank for london spitfires, very knowledgeable about the game and super chill, amazing english
hmnn
I like some of the more extreme personalities
Chill guys are fun too but I like the overtop guys
then probably sinatra and xqc
one not many
xqcs problem is that he loves his stream too much
What do you mean
xqc isn't really toxic, but he's a bit too hyper
What do you mean he loves his stream too much?
He is an extremely talented player, but and got an offer from a team to become full time pro, he accepted and now he somewhat appears to regret it because he likes streaming too much
nah i think he meant that xqc will do anything for the stream
So he wants to be a streamer not a pro player
he wants both
smh
but he cant do the same on the same time
poor time management skills 🤔
Taimou and Seagull have both huge streams as well that they have put on the shelf to become pros
(both on same team as xqc)
yep
Ok couple of questions since I’m a total noob and no exactly 0 things about esports of any kind
- why is it only pc players and not console players that are in the league? 2) are they only recruiting streamers and famous players or do they go by SR and ranking?
Basically what I mean is how do they qualify to be pros
- because PC is really the better platform to play fps games on
But you have some extremely skilled players on console
Better than a lot pc players too
- Far from it, they go by people that are hugely skilled and prefer people that dont come from ladder
but some people have been picked up from ladder
So how do they find them
They join teams, compete in minor leauges
top 500 players apply for team trials, compete in minor leagues
show that they are willing to put time and effort into becoming pros
I see
like Dafran was also picked up from ladder
I still don’t get the console pc bias tbh. There’s plenty of amazing players on console I don’t see why it should be pc only
because you cant have multiple platforms
that just complicates things
that's just how it is
not only that but the top 500 on pc are usually going to be more skilled than top 500 on console
even on console top 500, the majority uses keyboard mouse converters
if you watch a console top 500 vs a pc top 500, you will see how massively more reaction based PC is
I see
Serious question - What qualifies players to turn into coaches for their teams? Is it just them having the experience in the player role? What about all the other aspects of coaching, why choose a player to coach over someone who's a coach
I've seen teams go from 1 day having X as a player on the roster and the next he's a coach
so i assume he would be learning how to coach while being the coach? is this correct or anyone have input
I assume its no different than traditional sports. Some teams like to have an ex-player who's been there before. Some teams prefer a coach with experience coaching.
That's a good point, do you have any insight on why they would choose one over another? There's so much more to coaching than just player experience, unless they are delegating other stuff to specialized roles, i.e a nutritionist, personal trainers, psychologist (the person who keeps them from getting too burnt out I mean)
but I would think the coach would help build the schedules, do team building excersizes, etc
so I could be completely wrong, I just thought that you'd want someone with the specialization in coaching rather than just have the experience of being a player
I don’t think xqc is gonna still be a pro
It just doesn’t work for him
He likes streaming more than being a pro
I think quite a few current coaches also come in as coaches from other games so they have that tactical mind and organisational skills but maybe less player experience.
xQc
What are the responsibilities
@grizzled mulch
?
Pro gaming ain't for every hardcore gamer
If I was in xqc's shoes, I'd prob go full streamer too
He has what 5k subs?
Easily live off that in donations
How many people subbed to xqc because he was a pro?
But inside I'd def want him to stay pro, but there's just no way he can manage both full time
Whoops
Whoops
did the taiwan tourmey w/ kephrii on akms team happen already
i wanna know RESULTS PEOPLE
wow what an underwhelming match
goes widow in lijiang inside and gets spanked so swaps every time he dies and then the outside one doesnt go widow so far lol
confuzled
you mean why they didnt play in the pre-season?
phil fusion had some issues with the player visas
@hollow grove btw was the 76 cosplay today by the same lady who did a zarya cosplay yesterday ? 😄
I DON'T KNOW
LOL
this match
kephrii being damage boosted by 5 mercys, full torb teams
6 moiras v 6 sombras
all on hollywood
in one match
now all doomfist v rein
meteor shower
tracer v sym
uhhh
nice @
Why is half dead playing only widow on ladder?
He is actually a ladder one trick
Nvm he is actually insane on widoe
@poopieQueen Hi Sammie, my name’s Joel. As you probably know, @ognglobal will be broadcasting the PUBG Survival Series starting on January 14th. The KR community is made well aware due to popular streamers participating in the tourney and through thorough community interactions.
so pubg is kicking off on Jan 14
fyi
Overwatch's big competitor making it into the esport world
pubg esports omegalul
@spring lintel he's really fishy imo
!!!
Played against him in QP today, he didnt play widow and wasn’t really that impressive
He said I had low ping and was breaking all of his hooks
Anyways, xqc is actually done being a pro
He is just breaking rules live right now and doesnt care
What is he doing rn?
He is playing on an alt while his main is banned
First time he got banned he freaked out and all the pros came to his stream saying don’t play on an alt
But now he doesn’t give a fuck
why would they tell him not to play on an alt?
@spring lintel he actually asked a blizzard employee last time and they allowed him to play on a Smurf
This time he just didn’t wait to ask
He isn’t breaking rules by playing on an alt
hearthstone being an e-sport. thoughts?
My thoughts are Hearthstone is not Overwatch
@vital lotus #lf-players-na
https://ove @thorn forum That should get you with everything https://overwatchleague.com/en-gb/
It's not meant to be one
am i the one who actually hates the color schemes used in e sport, like it makes me feel colour blind
like i understand the skins but why are all the projectile colours different
same
i was not a fan watchin the world cup
maybe its because i have bad vision tho
the colours were too light
probebly is to light couse they use camaras to film the screen
@opal steeple try watching it on other websites then twitch, blizzard stream was way better in terms of colors
hopefully twitch improves before OWL starts, but time will tell
what does it have to do with twitch? blizz adjusted the color schemes between WC and OWL preseason
twitch fucks colors with their encoding
if you watched official blizz stream at WC, you would have noticed a huge difference
twitch also streams with half bitrate compared to mlg
^ 👌
Follow our team on Twitter https://twitter.com/Team_Kungarna Thank you for watching be sure to like and subscribe! Follow my twitch and twitter! https://www....
i dont understand
FNRGFE probably looking at contenders
corndogs really got the best logo
Ooooh
buds and friends
I've just seen an xQc clip, it looks like his normal home. Do the OWL teams not train in a gaming house?
The OWL starts in January, and xQc is Canadian
Its not that far, he can probably play his online game at home until the season starts.
@limpid estuary That's what I mean, maybe it's for Christmas to be home with family, but I'd assume the teams would want to practice together as much as possible prior to the actual start date.
?
@manic charm that is his apparment in LA, aka close to the overwatch leauge training area
he just dont stream from the training area because he dont have to, i dont think his team mates would be very pleased with his load streams
So according to NA players and their coaches, up to 40% of top 500 accounts are pro smurfs.
Thanks aimbotcalvin. When you are 20, never went to college, but you think you understand how economies work better than economic analysts. fkn calvin
There's no point getting made at the smurf accounts
oc
I am always mad a bliz
really no reason to be mad at someone for playing the game the way it works
🤔
None of the new heroes besides DF can oneshot
The salty part is that calvin thinks he's hot, so now pro players are essentially condescendingly and pretentiously saying that if yoiu aren't in top 500, you are bad anyway
I think NA players need some modesty because South Korea can shit on any team they wanted and they are never fucking telling their fans they suck
@limber pine is moira not OP though? and doom OP?
moira is not OP at all
Moira is nowhere close to op
doomfist isnt OP either after they fixed his fucked hitbox
like its well established imo that new heros are never balanced when they enter the game because they hardly run patches after the PT until weeks into integration
In my experience Moira had a very smooth launch
I've been hearing a lot about moira's potential
She's good, but counterable
her abilities are dank af
who counters her
other than obvious heros like winston
DVa is s very hard counter
tru
Eating orbs severely decreases her ult charge rate
true. her orbs are esentailly what make her dps powerhouse without real dps
getting those cheap elims
i have a question about the Contenders / Contenders Trials announcement post made yesterday, is this the right channel for it?
i was reading some of the specifics about how the Open Division will feed into Contenders Trials, and it looks like, if all 7 of the proposed North America Academy Teams are added to contenders, and all 4 of the non-Academy teams accept their invites to Contenders, there'll only be 1 spot available for the team that wins Trials, is that right?
7 + 4 is 11, leaving 1 free to spot from a Trials winner to fill in to make 12
i believe you're correct
it was a bit interesting that the NA Open Division will have a relatively low chance of leading to a Contenders placement, but i guess it makes sense if NA players already made their way into League or Contenders in some other way
are Academy Teams planned as just a one-off thing? that would make seasons 2 and later of Contenders more even
we dont know the amount of teams that will be in contenders i believe?
and academy teams is not a one off thing, it's something teams will use to train and fetch new talent
ICYMI the arguments for the OWL Pellets fantasy challenge's Ro8 are out. https://twitter.com/RadoNonfire/status/943567429594222593
Check out everyone's arguments for the OWL Pellets Ro8 matchups.
I was drawn against @paschlol , but she and her Western roster won't even see me and my team of master race Koreans coming! 👊 https://t.co/afDq3Gu7Bw
@red anvil true, it isn't known, but if all the invited teams accept, there'll only be 1 spot.
i'm curious if Academy Teams will be a one-off thing because 7 extra teams in the North America region for Season 1 gives less incentive to play through Open Division: there's potentially only 1 spot available for the winner of Trials to move to Contenders
and it isn't clear to me how Academy Teams would work after Season 1 anyway, given the Contenders ruleset says that the top 8 Contenders (per region) in each season are automatically moved to the next season, and the bottom 4 go to Trials to play with the top 4 from Open Division
if that's guaranteed, then there aren't any Contenders spots to give to Academy Teams
so it feels like Academy Teams could be an initial one-off seeding process to get the ball rolling with some strong input from League players
in case my math isn't clear: the ruleset outlines that (per region) there are 12 total teams in Contenders, 8 drawn from the previous Contenders season top 8 by ranking, and the remaining 4 drawn from the winner of Trials, where the participants of Trials are the top 4 from Open Division + the bottom 4 from Contenders
and this blog post https://overwatchleague.com/en-us/news/21353112/details-for-2018-s-path-to-pro lists 4 teams invited to Contenders North America, and also that 7 League Academy Teams will be added to North America, leaving 1 remaining Contenders spot if all accept
i would ask Blizzard for clarification but there is no appropriate way for me to ask them it looks like 😃
true. i doubt they would, but i could try
there are other ambiguous things too, like why does Contenders Europe only have 6 invited teams so far instead of 8, but i'm guessing they'll just fill in more people from Trials in those cases
why blizzard hate xqc fr
for throwing games?
that'll do it
HEY
HEY.
HEY
HEY

I'd say, RIP small Community Tournaments
https://communitytournaments.blizzardesports.com/en-us/
why tho?
doesnt seem like it'd get rid of small community tourneys
all thats showing is that theres a limit on the prize pool (small community tourney with a serious prize?) and that they have to use community in the title
Fleta streaming right now 👌
👌
just means that instead of rebranding, most commmunity tourneys have decided to just stop
which is unfortunate
Why would anyone care for blizzard
I have a discord that makes tournaments and no one cares about blizzard
Hey folks a new write-up on the OWL preseason, hope you enjoy it and feel welcome to share it around w/ friends if you do! ^^ https://twitter.com/RadoNonfire/status/944262480527806464

Can owl players stream other games?
I think so.
I just saw that video on how toxic sinatraa is and holy shit, fuck that dude

what video
https://youtu.be/iAZP04SdPC0 this one
This occurred 3 times in the small period I've wasted watching his streams. Generally people would want to play serious, and all he does is brag about being ...
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but generally speaking what's the best way to go about finding a team to play with? I'm interested in playing in local tournaments and what not
?lfg
I always so lfg as just trying to find a group to play a few matches with. But yeah, I'll post there. Thanks @slim yacht
@leaden gulch try team recruitment
is this where i go to talk about overwatch league
@regal mango yes
so excelsior and seoul dynasty are evenly matched in skill, yay or nay
Ehhhh hard to judge from just pre-season. I feel like Seoul will be stronger for a while but NYXL has potential to eventually be more even over the course of the season.
Ok
I understand that there is Korean team bias and it is true that they are better overall, but I think that some non korean teams can get better especially if they scrim with the korean teams. then again I heard from xqc's stream that there is one team that doesnt scrim in the office, and he does not know how they play
Im guessing that team will either be really good or really bad early season, then it will fall down or go up in rank as the season goes on.
Dude, has anyone else noticed Widow and Tracer get a majority of the screentime in OWL?
tracer is the best carry
and widow is strong rn since dive isnt as prevalent as before
it makes sense
man only 2 weeks and a half before the tournament... is the wait between matches gonna be an entire month every time?
hopefully not
if we have to wait that long i don't think it'll be able to keep
hype
idk though
has anyone seen the roster for mosaic esports?
they are nutty
😩 i hope they come through with a deal on a team by season 2
@inland ravine look at the pin by mod Lily
@hidden vault but all the players mosaic esports signed are for overwatch no?
@inland ravine sorry my bad

How can you not be a fan of Dallas Fuel
love it
where can I find half of the missing vods?
I feel that when NYXL gets flow3r to play they’re going to be the strongest team in the league
At least second place
Anyone know if Defran has joined a team yet?
he has not
na fam london where lookin migty fine
yeah well, ignored their inability to get it done in APEX
even with Fl0w3r in play
London very good
only koreans marketing with london PogChamp
I still support them tho bc london
Codey are the best
Isn't spitfire setting up a training ground to help local players be pros?
Our contenders team is @KruiseOW @FinnsiOW @Toniclol @EpzzOW @ShaxOW @Vizility and @MorteOW as coach.
Is anyone taking part?
also where i can post this and to find more members for my team~?
Sorry found team recruitment
for what
@dusky cedar #lf-players-na

are any of the OWL teams rivals?
They’ll probably hype up some regional rivalries
to be more like traditional sports
but there isn’t, like, leftover history from the organizations afaik
Fuel
already some rivalry shaking up for houston vs dallas
cuz local rivalry + classic optic vs envy
i'd imagine a good rivalry between any korean x (any team) too since all 3 korean teams are potentially strongest in the league
nyxl did not showcase jonak and flow3r in preseason yet
they still got lots of potentials
Not close to the other Korean teams
fl0w3r also wont be in OWL s1 afaik, still too young for that
mayhem seems to be the only team people shit on these days tho (based on preseason results)
and their 6 man roster
every other team is a lot closer to eachother than people think
but again, we know so much less than what teams internally know
What about Boston
boston is a case of being unknown
And sf shock
after preseason, they dont look terrible
shanghai and mayhem looked worse
before boston was like undisputed worst
now they got a case for being mid-tier
So you would rate them as tier 3
And teams like la valiant and outlaws tier 2
I would say shock is a tier 3 team as well
iunno too many unknowns and i want to take preseason results with a grain of salt
you got your obvious tier 1s, seoul and london, then maybe fuel and nyxl
then everyone else really
Fuel is t1
Quick question
(also quick thing to @uneven flax Outlaws is T1)
But have they mentioned anything on a date of when the skins are coming?
I've heard some people say Jan 10th, but how accurate is that?
I assume the skins come when the season starts so yeah jan 10
Gotta get me a Dallas Fuel skin
Hopefully when you ult with that skin the jack in the box theme plays
go watch the video by erstadan overwatch is esports ready
No thanks
I'm going to get that fuel mercy skin but it sucks because I just spent my credits on the imp skin
Ech
Ew
Agreed
mayhem is shit tier?
now who they gonna add, that is the question
+kephrii
Do Dynasty or Spitfire to win S1?
Dynasty is most likely
Dynasty are defs the favs for s1

1v11*

it betta be on twitch
🤔
Nah I'm seeing why the guys emote didn't show

Speaking of uprising, since the interviews on oversight talked about them being one of the teams to look out for
So who are their talents?
i don't know anyone on that team
Overwatch league will definitely be on twitch
I can’t source it but I remember specifically reading that it will be
12 teams in the owl
This past year we have played in many tournaments across many different games. We have achieved more than anyone would have expected coming into 2017. Thank ...
Do people actually like the weird colors used in esports?
I wish it just looked normal
I LOVE the new colours
It can be a little conflicting but overal its nice imo
I think Nate said they were looking into it more
Nosemite's junkrat is going to smite you all none of you are safe
Happy near year btw let's hope that OWL is good
I guess they
don't want to make it blue and red
because that would make it look like they favour one team with blue
not just that, but i think as a spectator you associate red with "the opposite team", which breaks your mental model when following what's happening
^
exactly, the old colours were confusing
having to memorize that your team was the enemy colours
then suddenly it switched between maps
In my opinion I get a bit confused on who’s teammates are who’s and who their attacking
I don't mind the individual team colors but the white away side doesn't have enough contrast with the home team 🤷♂️
What do you mean? Like separate entities or the entire color scheme
Entities being the things that pop out of the character i.e. particles, shields, orbs etc.
HAPPY NEW YEARS
@eager niche Happy New Years
happy new years

White is obnoxious because everything looks washed out af
Wish they'd only use them when there are conflicting colours
And even then they wouldn't have to be white
But yeah, as someone who started watching OW when the blue team didn't have healthbars when you shot them
I've never had issues spectating OW so I don't really care
Yeah it's washed out and it just doesn't stand out at all to me
@toxic yacht wait what, shooting the blue team?
Oh in spectating? But red was fine? Haha, that's a cool bug.
ye, back then hp only popped up when the read team was being shot in spec
probably a side effect of how HP only pops up at damage when it's an enemy
so you either had to look at the top of the screen and look at the team display or estimate in order to know how much HP someone on team blue had
oh, and 3rd person view was perfectly central, team names couldn't be set and lot's of other minor stuff that blizz improved over time
👌
Hey folks, new year, new write-up is out. Hope you enjoy it and would appreciate you sharing it around if you do! ^^ https://twitter.com/RadoNonfire/status/947886520735760384
Blizzard's #OverwatchLeague starts in 10 days, but who are the participating players in the best position to become the greatest of all time in Overwatch?

There was a really fat korean on tinder but I was tempted to swipe right because I mistook her for Fl0w3r for a second and I wanted to know if her widow was any good kappa

its pretty long though whoops

oh hell no
South Korea doesn’t need a nerf Everyone else needs a buff
anyone a
fan
Is it just me or is there going to be waaaaay too many OWL matches
Looking at the schedule, it's the same structure as the preseason
which means it's going to be 5-6 hours per day
4 consecutive days a week
for 5 weeks
Making it through the preseason was at times a chore
That's like 120 hours of matches between Jan 10 and Feb 21 (plus an additional ~4 hours of playoffs)
then 10 days later it's stage 2 and the whole thing starts over
Really??
and there are 4 stages, each with the same amount of time between them (little over a week)
Looks like we'll be getting ~24 hours of OWL matches per week until at least June 16th, then there's Playoffs, Grand Finals, and All-Star Weekend
That’s... crazy
Actually, that one includes preseason matches (I mostly wanted to see how many times each team would face each other before finals)
This one does not include preseason: https://i.imgur.com/MJO09Ee.png
Including title matches will be interesting
I have to wonder if the skill gap is small enough that we will see a tremendous variety in the title matches
I expect we'll see Seoul in it each time
Anyone have the imgur album with most colorschemes for the OWL skins including Away
what happend to philly?
Not sure why there are ones
every team plays 10 games in every division
so they end up playing more games against some teams in their division i think
OK, I did a silly & was only summing on a home vs away basis (i.e. when one team is home and the other team is away) which is why the numbers were different sometimes
These are sums of both directions & thus it is fixed
okay yeah that makes more sense
In my humble opinion, it is far too many matches
The most likely candidates to win in the finals will have played against each other 4 times in standard matches and approaching 5 times in title matches
not including playoffs which I don't know how that works
How does this volume compare to other esports?
When are the OWL skins coming?
ok
Moving swiftly onwards.
I think the number of matches is good for the first season. APEX was too few matches so this'll be a good benchmark to see if this is too much.
honestly it's too many
2 matches per team per week is gone be extremely harsh for teams
also only over 4 days

Idk about it being too many
when do the skins come out?
it's soon™
Feelsbadman
I personally don’t think there are too many games. They are trying to make it feel as much like traditional sports as possible. Think about college football. There’s like 70 games a week, pro football there’s like 16 3-4 hour games a week, baseball there’s 30 teams that play 162 games a year lol. I don’t think the intention is for every fan to watch every single match. Sure some will watch more than others but the more games there are the more truthful standings will be I’d think
Yeah I'll only be watching outlaws, fuel and dynasty unless there is a particularly interesting match recommend
Same. I’ll watch the outlaw matches and fuel matches. Otherwise maybe the “prime time” match if they specifically hype the last match of the weekend like Monday night football or something, then I’m sure highlights of the other matches on twitch or YouTube or whatever
Not watching Valient Tara? Im disepoined in you!
i'm gonna watch what i'll be able to watch with those EU friendly times
How many teams are in OWL?
12
Thanks
Weh weh weh, sorry @red anvil
I’m so torn about which team I support
I like so many
But the top 2 contenders are Houston outlaws and Dallas fuel
next week fuckin hype
I CAN'T WAIT
Biggest question is how in the world will Philly perform given that the roster literally has less than 1 week to practice with eachother
and they're a new team with potential communication barriers (very nationality mixed team)
Yeah I saw that Carpe was only getting his plane to NA a few days ago
philly would have to be the best pug team to compete
Do any of the players on HO stream?
houston? almost all of them stream
Tru
I should look into it
I only watched xqc and seagull stream
I love xqc stream. He’s so aids it’s hilarious
Muma, Spree, LiNkrz and Jake do quite regularly
ive watched every outlaws stream except coolmatt and boink
so i can say for sure 8/10 players on houston stream
Any of them as entertainingly extra and aids like xqc?
mendo used to stream regularly but hasnt streamed much since he joined outlaws
Too busy taking care of his dog
Lol
So fusion's first match is on 1/11 vs Houston. Odds are in favor of houston but not within realm of impossibility for Houston to lose. If Houston loses, it would def look bad considering houston has been together for over a month and they're 2nd fav western team behind Fuel.
Fusion's 2nd match on 1/13 vs London. Yea no way London would lose that one.
All I know is that some of them had burgers
im just really looking forward to the end of season when sado is allowed to play if he was worth all the hassle philly had to go through for him
I read somewhere that he's probably not even a starter
Ew
let go london
dis how we do it in philly
I feel like part of the problem with having so many matches is that it isn't just the best teams that have the best matches
even the lower-seeded teams in the league can pull of sick plays & highly competitive matches worth watching
so I'm worried that even if I try to see my favorite teams, I'll be consuming vastly more "highlights"
England is my city
is london ur heroes
Hi
My favorite team is probably Shock
Mainly cause I like babybay and sinatraa
Their colors are sweet too
there is no team close to me or teams in cities i have friends or connections too
where is my minnalpois team
where is my chicago, i even take a mulwakkie
so i think i go with the team close to chicago bears colors
i think i go with the shock since i been to that city once and it was my favriote vacation
love me some freash seafood
and it was where i made peace with my oldest brother
eating mayo and fries room servius in a room in nappa
watching 8 mile
dats how we do it in philly
Because they have to play so many matches it's advantageous to have somebody else who can play X heroes for different set plays/comps
So you might have two main tanks like fuel, one better at Winston and the other better at Rein. One more aggressive, the other more defensive.

Related: what were the rules on subbing again? I think it was that you had to announce a switch, play one entire game (atk/def), then they could come in?
you can switch players every map
but you have to lock in your switches before the ongoing map ends
Since they know in which order the maps are played, that's probably not severely limiting
Well, I don't know what I'm talking about, I just guess they have specific strats for many maps
like the weird Orisa comp Florida ran on Eich and the Bastion comp everybody ran on Junk
you have to lock changes before halfway trough the last map
so either 1 point of koth or before first attack ends
so it's pretty absurd
Dude are there no restrictions on ranks in open division?
I think it is Masters+.
It used to be masters+, I think they lowered it
Pretty sure it's just open now
I am new to Overwatch eSports and I noticed some matches were played on older patches so I am wondering are they going to use a single patch throughout OWL or are they going to play on whatever patch that is live at the time?
probably in stages
they're just gonna be playing mercy meta non stop FeelsBadMan
jokes aside, if theres some balance changes coming, they're definitely swapping them inbetween the stages of the lleague
i used to be an atheist until i started believing in onigod

I just really wish they fix Mercy along the way so Ana can be viable again, I want to see ryujehong on Ana so badly :(
of the day
