One of the major points of the league is to make it more stable for players. It wouldn't be fair to sign 12 players and drop 6 after a few months and sign a few more in their place.

Mano is one of the best all rounder tanks in the world
He may not have a Rein as good as Kaiser or a Winston as good as Miro, but he plays Rein better than Miro and Winston better than Kaiser, and that flexibility is very good

The title matches might've been added to show who the best team for each stage is, with each stage being 5-week intervals. Of course, that's all speculation though

Basically, the stages act as soft resets for the standings. By having "mini-tournaments" within the overarching League with a group stage and playoff stage, and a prize pool, it gives teams incentives to perform at all times. There's still a chance for the team in 12th place to come back, make some money, even after the majority of games have been played @proven wadi @limpid estuary

a lot of pro players used to do some analysis and stuff like that, searching youtube normally finds a lot of stuff... from what i remembered what i liked was Blitz eSports overwatch they had some cool analysis on pro games and i think Flame did some pretty good videos aswell

I believe it'll be more like hiring OGN to do production. I trust they read all the comments of people comparing their events to APEX, plus Monte and Doa on their OWL team who have probably talked to them a lot about APEX. I don't think they'd ruin what they know OGN do. Blizz will hopefully invest in an Overwatch dedicated stage for APEX too. They'll also provide all the new observing tools etc

Hey guys! Looking for opinions on my upcoming project.
So, while setting up an environment for an Overwatch esports "hub", I realize sites and services (like Discord) kind of already do this really well. Then, I had a new idea to really grow the Overwatch esports community.
Introducing The Overwatch Fantasy League!
Setup: The fantasy league would be set up like a typical sports league where groups are set up and members in the group have a draft. Players are picked from the current rosters of all the teams and added to each member's team. Matchups are set between each member's teams through the weeks.
Matchup: Each matchup will pit two member's teams together with their individual player's scores totalling to their overall score for that matchup. Scoring for each player will depend on the player's stats and performance during the actual Overwatch League game that player is playing in for his actual team. I have to still decide how performance is calculated and there will likely be a weight to add custom weights for perfomance. The member with the highest scoring team in the matchup will win that matchup and each member's season record will be accordingly adjusted.
Team Roster: Up to the day of the games, members can update their team roster for the upcoming matchup to achieve the best score. Members can start and bench players on their roster as well as removing players from their roster, adding them to the free trade block, pick up players from the free trade block, or trade players with another member. On game days, rosters are locked until the day after the games are over that week.

So what do you think so far? Great, right? Hopefully? While I think this league would take off, I'm aware of the enormous undertaking here. Some problems I'm thinking of:
- How scoring would work for different team members (i.e. a great Rineheardt shielding his team v.s. a pro Genji).
- Different categories of players, such as those that player support roles over those who are strictly DPS (classification of team classes like in NFL leagues with QB, RB, WR...?)
- Manual updating of statistics. I don't know how it works in sports, but in something like football, when a WR gains 10 yards, some dude probably enters 10 yards for that WR in the system. In a fast-paced esports like Overwatch, stats are constantly being changed through the match, making them recording seem almost impossible. Maybe wait until after the match is over to get stats?
- Security, Perfomance, Maintanability
- Scalability. In case this becomes popular, servers must be set up to handle extreme loads.
- Servers cost money which means the service must be profitable, either through ads or special memberships. There must always be a free account. (cont.)
Again, this is a huge undertaking and I'll need to address making the actual application and service as well answering the questions above. My thinking is building the platform during the first season of the Overwatch League, hopefully gaining a good understanding of how the league will actually function. Then I would get an early beta out in time for the second season of the league, with an actual release slated for the third season. I am a lone developer and this is likely going to be a side project, so this will take time.
If you made it to the end, I appreciate your commitment to understanding my vision. What do you think? Are there any answers to the future problems I posed? Any other issues I should consider? Would you be interested? Is this something you see you and your friends playing every week during the season? Should I post this on the subreddit for more opinions?
