yes
it looks like he still has some thigh stumps
he got anakin'd
basically same thing, though his savior is a hero organization at that time
genji literally is just anakin if he was a ninja and good
wait did Reyes say genji kill his gf of the time? probably not.
what?
oh it is a anakin-genji parallel
we know the area they fight, though i suspect genji's body might have fallen off the building so it is easier to be rescued by overwatch people
why does the mustafar battle fit so well with hanzo and genji like bruh
since if genji is fallen in that building recovery of him would mean fighting all the way into the structure
they even have similar motivations
"i see through the lies of the shimada clan, i do not fear slacking like you do!"
genji even has a high ground line in hots lmao
genji father's vision of the clan might be different
the full interaction is
McCree: What's it like Genji? You know... as a cyborg.
Genji: Pain and agony. And what am I? Man or machine?
McCree: Then why did you agree to it?
Genji: I wanted to be able to walk again.
sojiro seems like a nice guy from what little we know
i mean they are still ninja assassain clan doing illegal things, but might be benevolent as a whole under daddy shimada's rule
yeah Sojiro might be a vagalante type of leader
well illegal doesn't always mean evil
Sojiro doesn't seem that nice to me
he called Genji "sparrow" as an insult
he seems to love his sons tho
It is normal
usually you call your child lowly things, for a number of reasons, one being it helps by calling them lowly name, ward off evil spirits that focus on precious things.
So yeah those child names are usually animals and things for a reason.
i wonder if hanzo has a nickname
Another guess is that other than just playful and playboy genji is too heroic, which might mess with the clan leader's plan for future, in a more shady way
and the later action of overwatch's attack on shimada might proof shimada is indeed going for mroe dangerous business
i mean unlikely overwath would attack a local semi-legal organization for thigns like racketing and selling contraband
technically blackwatch was kinda shady too tbh
selling weapons is a good enough reason
i thought tori was bird
since being yakuza is legal in japan
suzume is sparrow
yea i thought tori was just plain bird lol
it is
i bet hanzo doesn't even have an embarrassing nickname because he was so perfect
usually suzume is small ones
nope
hanzo is not perfecct
i bet papa thinks hanzo is too formal and obedient
hanzo is great
i can see that
but genji is just prodigy in terms of ninja stuf
but the elders prolly thought he was the perfect heir
but not for things like leading and organzation
yes the old elder prefer hanzo
hanzo probably easier to control
since he obey the elders
i feel like genji is actually secretly better at everything than hanzo, he just dgaf and never took learning seriously lol
combat skills i can see yes, msot of them
like i bet he had more potential than hanzo, he was just lazy
more like unruley, hanzo conform much more
raw talent vs hard work and practice
hell i can see young genji playing superhero here and there too pissing old clan leaders off
lol
well he is an anime trope
im sure it was intentional
damn he even had a kamen rider skin.
i wanna watch an anime about not-genji
old ones in the 80s not new ones
whats his kamen rider skin
the power ranger thing
i only know about his super sentai skin
oh super sentai yea
some of his skins are refrences
oni and sentai are obvious
bedouin i got no clue tho
Shinzou Ningen Casshan
like with v fins, cyborg and everything
genji dont ahve a dog
id love a traditional samurai skin for genji with that iconic samurai helmet
i think default genji is pretty clearly inspired from grey fox too
he even refrences it in hots
but his helmet is still sentai based obvs
since i head mei is out might check out the lines
grey fox's helmet looks more like an iron man refrence
grey fox predate modern looks of ironman though
well no the classic look
the "mouth" and eye slits are very similar
no clue what genji's helmet is based on
id say cyclops from x men maybe? idk might be a stretch but
we're getting off-topic
ow devs are clearly a fan of comics and anime
i wouldn't be surprised if genji himself chose to make his new armor look like a sentai or ultraman costume
seems like something he'd do
wait his new look in ow2 is already released
he had a bit of clothing on his armor
yea
oh the hoodie and joggers?
yea?
well at least there is more work on it than tracer's
hey i like tracer's
well it is a good look
i like it much better than ow1
but minimal change so less noticable
but i do wonder when and why they get those new costumes
since they didnt have it in 0 hour
no they didn't, only genji did
actually wait
only some of them have it?
so mercy and rein dont and i assume not brig either
well mercy new outfit is ok
so possibly winston upgraded their gear?
rein one is great
winston yes there is some upgrade
subtle
not like lucio's outfit a bit
tracer is ... her body is ok, hate her new arms
rein didnt have his new armor
He had his new look
mercy didn't either
The hair
that's definitely old rein in 0 hour
weird
yes in 0 hour
probably get the armor later
and technically we dont even know if thats his "new" hair
well sort of new
we do
different from his times in dragons
because thats actually the 1st time we see present day rein without his helmet
no
and hes in the same ow1 armor so
actually wait do we count that one camo skin without the helmet
i forget the name
in that one his hair is short and slicked back
so i guess it is new
i guess mercy hasn't made her Valkyrie mk II suit yet and brig hasnt made rein his mk9 Crusader armor
also we waiting for bastion with new paint
we know it should happen
probably upgrades
maybe some language module like hammond
interesting how we havent seen new brig yet tho
since we've seen everyone in 0 hour's updated designs except brig
so now the oldest member of ow by time server is either tracer or mei
though the earliest time of service for tracer is a pilot, and mei a scientist
i hope everyone gets new overwatch outfits
i especially wanna see brig in that classic blue armor
no i mean later in when overwatch actually comes "back"
like as skins
opposite of archives, the characters in NEW overwatch armor
i especially really wanna see what genji and mccree look like in an overwatch uniform
not sure if mccree would wear them
but echo is in, though she might not have a new look
i mean she can whatever herself to start with
mccree wore something in blackwatch
i assume hed wear a modified uniform lol
they at least keep a similar color scheme and style as their uniform
love how blackwatch gabe straight up just wears a beanie tho lmao
@dapper patrol Echo is part of the "all heroes are getting a new look"
Yeah they confirmed at Blizzcon that all OW1 heroes will get a redesign.
It'll be interesting what direction they take with some heroes. For the likes of Rein and Winston they're clearly just updated versions of their classic looks, but for characters like Brigitte - who in-universe has only JUST created her current look, I'm curious to see what the in-universe reason for her new outfit will be.
Like maybe it's a version of her armor that Torb has helped soup up, or now has OW insignia on it, etc.
hanzos redesign tho pls
"All heroes" means all Heroes
i just wanna confirm it again
Zen in a jacket would be intresting to see
agreed
you got your skin
I know
My God that would be epic
yooo

i wanna see pharah in some overwatch armor
since pharah's part of the new generation
i would love to see pharah put on her suit like Iron man's nano suit that would be so cool to see
she would have to actually join Overwatch first
also nanotech doesn't exist in Overwatch
at least, not on Iron Man's level
nanites!
the closest thing is Mercy's nanobiotics
and those are for healing, not making armor
hard light armor maybe
if we’re just talking about achieving that cool effect of suiting up
what unit is the big robot in the overwatch 2 announce cinematic?
it seems like a Titan
a similar sized robot can be seen in the comic "Destroyer"
although that one was piloted by a person
same
it would be too big
Make it just a bit bigger then dva
Not the dancing one
Or the prototypes in the bay I mean the ones you see in the cinematic
Yeah I guess
wont fit through the doors
:D
theres a maximum size heroes can be
it would be an interesting ult though
similar to call mech, but instead its a temporary mech
D.Mon is probably the biggest you can go, and D.Mon will certainly be scaled down
How big is d.mon mech?
You can see it on Busan.
O shit
why is widowmaker so thicc. whats her lore
!!shitposting
Shitposting will result in a loss of access.
she's a former ballerina - they tend to have very muscular legs
I see.
Her husband was a high member of overwatch
Talon recruited her and made her assassinate him
And her inspiration of spiders is because she didn't like that they never felt anything and when she killed her husband she lost her feelings and became cold
If I remember
But also what about baptistes friend being a hero the talon tank
"friend"
and it's certainly possible
Well Malga and sombra were his only friends in talon
Mauga, not Malga.
Yeah
I'm not sure how they'll go about Mauga
Mauga will likely be a future hero
I'm curious to see how they will handle his hero and his lore
His interactions should be quite interesting
he was supposed to be hero 31, but the kit they came up with didn't match Mauga's character
and they really liked the kit
so they shelved Mauga and made Sigma
Its quite easy to see that Sigma was kinda an after-thought
He was brand new
He just came up out of nowhere
they still made him an interesting character, and tied him into existing lore
Yea
I am almost sure that we will be getting Sigma lore in OW2
Zenyatta too
The community has been begging Blizzard for Zen lore for months, if not years
he provided an explanation for the emergency symbols on the hologram of the space station you can see above point on Lijiang Control Center
I hope they do something cool with Sigma's character
There's a lot of potential there
Zenyatta was just a supporting character in Genji's background
I'm also happy to see that Lucio is finally coming into play
Its a shame that, so far, we are seemingly not getting any Australia missions
probably not
I don't see the Junkers being involved in the fight against Null Sector
they'll probably keep to themselves
I was hoping we would also get side missions or somethin'
Still lore, but not necessarily related to the main plotline
Like the Junkers or some sort of resistance in Russia etc.
the problem is having enough relevant playable heroes for the mission
Junkrat and Roadhog were exiled, and Hammond left
and unless JQ is a support (unlikely) they'd need a healer
also im thought the heavy soldier on retribution was robots
like omnics until im saw mauga
so the heavy ones are persons too
controlling it
i wonder if they are going to put anymore people in from junkertown?
If they do, it will probably be exactly the Queen
I don't think they need anyone else
I could see a Junker mission starting with the Queen trying to find Junk and Hog for some reason (probably killing them or bargaining)
Don’t know how Hammond would be involved though
Again, there's a problem with the player count
how does zens orbs work?
@worthy rose Discord Orbs are not canon.
We don't know if Harmony Orbs are canon, but Zenyatta is capable of some form of healing that Mercy wouldn't understand.
The physical Orbs exist and float around Zen (which isnt weird, lots of things float). We don't know how they work or if they can project the Orbs of Destruction.
ight
There could be a Sydney mission if they decide to make that a map
Considering that Australia is supposed to support Omnics
And if that’s the case, Junkrat and Roadhog could potentially be enemies or allies
It’s not like they haven’t had them both as bosses before
i dont see us shooting and eliminating actual heroes, unless its a non-canon side mission (or hero mission)
yeah, it worked for Junkenstein because the defenders were supposed to kill Junkenstein and his crew (and they get resurrected for the final fight)
for a mission that's supposed to be canon, named characters shouldn't be the bosses
It very much wouldn’t be the first game where beating the boss only leads to a cutscene where they get away
Also didn’t it look like a Doomfist fight at some point?
eh, those sorts of outcomes always felt cheap to me, like, I fought to beat them and they still get away? why fight them in the first place
its not the cheapness of it to me
its the fact that we drilled 4,000 bullets and bombs into them, only for them to escape with a scratch
Having heroes on both sides that can never fight without killing eachother feels even worse to me
I dont mind never getting to fight named characters
yeah before the actual OW2 announcement, i wasnt expecting them to keep the arcadey "4 vs hoards" format, and was expecting something more similar to other story driven games that allow for calmer or more nuanced fights
but they said it themselves, they're pulling all the story out into the cutscenes, allowing the gameplay in the middle to be actual gameplay
A few reasons are suggested.
It is said that Roadhog did "something" to anger her.
What was do you think was it that got us the boot? Stealing the queen’s cash? Blowing up her summer shack? The beat down at the bar?
The beat down at the bar was Roadhog. We see that in Wasted Land.
Junkrat probably blew up her summer shack
So maybe Roadhog (or both of them) stole her cash in the past.
They likely just disobeyed her to the point of where she couldn't control them anymore
Just finished reading Hero of numbani, can confirm: It's very good, I enjoyed it
It felt like I was watching a cinematic when it got to the second half of the book
How did doomfist join OW?
He didn't
I don’t think doomfist ever joined overwatch
In lore at least
He’s the currently a leader of some sort in Talon
"Hero of Numbani" isn't available in France 😭
@hushed fiber It is - just not in french (february 2021 in french 😔 )
That sucks
How did doomfist join OW?
@worthy rose He never joined Overwatch. He did join Talon because he was recruited as a mercenary by the second Doomfist Akinjide Adeyemi
The lore of the gameplay isn't canon to the lore of the story
Because of the gameplay and the gauntlet that existed from the first cinematic
They decided to make him a hero
Doomfist was created to be one of many main antagonist heroes
If I remember correctly, there are youtube videos out there talking about the behind the scenes of doomfist, but I may be mistaken
ok
We'll have answers to many questions in Overwatch 2... but we didn't have news of it at the Gamescom
we have to wait until the Blizzcon in 2021
i dont blame them
I don't blame them for that. But I find weird that Overwatch_FR tweeted about Gamescom's merch and don't give news.
can we talk about how incredibly powerful symmetra is
or probably the hard light shes using
her ult is a huge wall
i wanna see that on the or a cinematic
thats just for gameplay mechanics
hard light is manifested to solid physical objects
Doomfist was after he was mentioned in the games announcement cinematic, and people were begging he be a hero
Realistically, hard light is pretty strong, although it has been mentioned that manipulating it is hard to master
i wonder if maybe they wanted to make a whole lot of lore with the first game but just couldn't keep up with it???
they made the decision early on to keep the lore outside the game
and after seeing the reaction to the lore in the community, they probably realized that was a bad idea
I like the density we have now though
There’s enough unanswered questions that there’s room to theorize
making the PvP lore-compliant would complicate things though
there isn't an even balance of good guys and bad guys
I just hope if they become more lore aggressive that they don’t fill in the gaps too quickly
and which side would get neutral heroes like Symm or Hanzo?
do you think they had the idea of coming out with second game when making the first one?
did they say anything on how they are going to put the neutral heroes into the plot of 2 or they just leaving them out and in the pvp? (Sorry like i said before, i stopped following this game for a while and once they announced 2 i was back in lol)
not every hero will play a part in the story of OW2
some will get left out
I believe they used Roadhog as an example of a hero that wouldn't make sense to be fighting against Null Sector
but they'll all be available in PvP and hero missions
ok that's what i was thinking, cause like you said Roadhog and Junkrat would make no sense in there, i just didnt know if they would me a specific missions for them.
they could be involved in later plotlines
i am happy that they won't force those characters into a organization that would not make any sense at all
I can see them adding new storylines in the future
the idea that everyone has to pick a side is dumb
on places like Twitter i was seeing people saying that, Roadhog, Junkrat, and Sym would join Talon. and i was like on what grounds would they join them?
not likely
the Junkers will do their own thing
Symm maybe, depending on what Sanjay tells her
I guess there will be free updates/ DLC wich add a storyline for specific places or characters
I know
damnn 👀
?
I don't think it would be the hardest thing to include Roadhog and Junkrat in any story missions. They hate omnics, so if an OW mission took the team to the Australian Outback you could logically manufacture a 'your enemy is my enemy' situation with the Junker pair.
Likewise, Talon hiring them as extra muscle (before realising what a terrible idea it was on their first mission) isn't out of the question.
There is currently no support player to partner them with.
Not unless Junker Queen, when she is released, is a support. Some people think that she will be, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she is
Who says they have to have a Junker support though? My point was there's logical ways to have them interact and team up with the various factions.
Even if only temporarily (i.e. for the duration of a mission).
They aren't going to awkwardly thrust Junkrat and Roadhog into a mission just so they can be there, that's not good writing.
All you need is to say "There's a MacGuffin in the Junker Queen's vault that we need to help us in the fight against Null Sector/whoever. The Queen won't let outsiders in, but these two guys say they can smuggle us in."
I mean the mission they create they could have some sort of healing mechanic if the JQ doesn’t end up being a support
Then you have a story mission associated with Junkertown. I took from the OW2 gameplay trailer that most if not all of the existing maps will be used for story missions.
Because why wouldn't they do that, make use of existing assets, etc.
Not every map is getting a story mission.
They aren't going to awkwardly thrust Junkrat and Roadhog into a mission just so they can be there, that's not good writing.
@cosmic crest It's an ensemble cast. That's exactly what they might do.
Well that'd be lazy and awkward.
That's a matter for the execution. The idea itself is fine.
And no, I don't think they would. They said not every hero will be in the story missions specifically for that reason.
I'd like it if every hero could appear in a mission, but If there isn't a genuine reason for them being there then there is no point.
I took from the OW2 gameplay trailer that most if not all of the existing maps will be used for story missions.
@dim horizon that's hero missions, not story missions
hero missions are non-canon missions with random objectives where you can play any hero
story missions will have their own dedicated maps (or at least partially dedicated)
@dim horizon that's hero missions, not story missions
@lament prawn Oh I wasn't talking about that segment, more the 'campaign world map' that the reformed Overwatch are looking at in the story mode. And Winston's "one city at a time" dialogue.
yeah, that's the trailer shot that introduced us to hero missions, you can even see the camera jumping from different parts of the world map showing us different hero missions
True, it's just before the transition. Could go either way.
But whichever way we slice it, it's heavy on the speculation which is the fun part.
yes it's an ensemble cast, but they dont have to include every hero in everything
nor should they
I hope we will eventually see every hero in a story mission, even if it takes a few years.
well today was the last day of gamescom and sadly we got nothing well... the thing is wait for blizzcon
on 2021
or if something come before 2021
i didnt expect to get anything from blizzard anyway tbh
The best case is a random unannounced teaser on Twitter in the next couple weeks. The worst case is nothing until Blizzcon 2021 (which will be in Jan/Feb).
yes for all what we know early 2021 could mean march
I'm more hoping for more short stories
or other lore content
without new heroes or maps, it's hard to predict when we'll get more lore
you could always reread/rewatch all the stuff we have, maybe rediscover some facts you've forgotten
there's a decent amount of lore, it's just buried in old blogs or sprinkled into other things
I wish Blizzard would put it all in one place, but until they do, I've got my list
I remember when you made the big chart of how heroes were connected with eachother
is that the Null Sector logo at the bottom right?
was that guy ever confirmed to be part of Null Sector?
also, can i save that image? just to have and look at
yeah you can save it
it wasn't explicitly confirmed, but it's implied
the plans he set up with Doomfist had to be on hold while DF was in jail, and now that he's out those plans can happen
and it seems like those plans are the Null Sector invasion
yea thats the leader of null sector
it's very likely that we'll find out more about him in OW2 (and maybe even get him as a playable hero)
im making a dva archive event idea
honestly, i'd love to get some more info on null sector
my brain is fried
but at the same time im thinking of a diff ult for dva and the others
yes
well if they actually beat all in that story mode so probably the lore of overwatch will end
on that second game
or not...
depends
or they could just write more story
Yeah basically if they beat talon and null sector, the lore literally ends since there’s really no other enemies
well, potentially other Omnic factions
That is if they’re like null sector
I’d like to those flying Omnics from the Dva short make it into the game
the Gwishin?
whos the little girl next to Orisa?
Efi
I think the gwishin is the big one
no, that is the Colossus
Wait I need to look up gwishin
Yeah point made
maybe a cutscene though
Definitely a cutscene
Now for the big question
What do you think happens to Lucio after the rio mission
tooo little info to say
He either dies or falls into the ocean
But I doubt he’d die because he’s already in the game
Hol up
He doesn’t die
Blizzard said they'd be willing to kill off a character, but I doubt it'd be Lucio
In the gameplay trailer we saw him in Gibraltar
If they kill someone, please be bastion
But I mean he looks too strong to die
they were pretty much fodder in Honor and Glory
Honor and Glory is probably he saddest short in overwatch
All characters are getting new looks in OW2 correct? (Exept echo)
I was under the impression everyone was, but perhaps that is the case
I mean it seems that’s not the case
honor and glory is the saddest and most badass short
Because I don’t think Zenyatta got a new look in the trailer
I think it only applies to some heroes
Either way I’m hoping to see a Zenyatta mission
I bet that’s actually going to be a thing
I am not so sure. So far, the missions we have seen for OW2 seem somewhat vanilla
The only mission we’ve seen from OW2 is Rio
And a glimpse of ilios, Hollywood,Route 66
well, yes, I was counting Archive events and stuff, but point made
Oh alright
Archives was pretty short
At least Storm Rising
I wonder if the guy in the ending cutscene will be a new enemy
Pretty sure that’s the case since it appears that doomfist (probably) recruited him
i can't be the only one who thought when they showed the back of that guy, it was going to turn around and show Reaper? but i am very curious to who he was tho...
a lot of people thought he looks similar to Reaper, but that wouldn't make any sense
I mean he looks and sounds like an omnic
And according to the chart above it says he’s with null sector
he is an omnic
I don't know if there's english subtitles, but go check the video by Potxeca on him.
Jeff confirmed that he's an omnic in a stream with ohnickel
(he also called it "Overwatch one" in that stream, which few people caught)
Jeff: He's an omnic.```
Did he call the omnic "Overwatch one" ?
no, he was answering a question about why we haven't gotten a story mode
I think I'm speaking for the team when I say this: we would love to make a story mode. Making something that ambitious is like making a brand new game. The amount of work that it would be is like making a new game from scratch. You know, Overwatch One was really concieved of, the whole concept behind the game was, competitive team-based shooter. So making something that is more story based, for me, is like making a brand new game. It's something the team would love to do, we've had a lot of fun making these story-based events.
Talking about Overwatch with Jeff Kaplan and Havana new map, Echo Sojorn Jetpack cat, Junkerqueen, etc.

How I Became the #1 Lifeline in the World - https://youtu.be/4BScl...
this was April 17, 2019 - 7 months before the OW2 reveal
I'd like to see some Blackwatch missions from when they took down the Shimada Clan
maybe as a future DLC/event
it was the whole hood and jacket, on him that looked like modern day Reaper. i thought that maybe Reyes was already with Talon (if he was before the fall)
eh, the hood had detailing on it that Reaper's doesn't have
and before we ever saw him, Doomfist said something about "fighting for your people" - what people would Reaper be fighting for?
There's so many things they could do with OW's lore, it's impressive.
Btw how did Reyes become Reaper ? Is there an origin story for him ?
I don't know lol, honestly i didnt get to hear the dialogue the first time i played through cause people were loud in the chat.
Reyes was having some genetic issues so he recruited Moira to fix them
Moira took it too far and gave him wraith powers
I have further theories, but that's the official story
So did he fully die in the exposition and his cells just rebuilt themselves? (i know it's kind of unclear just looking for theories right now lol)
Where does this picture come from ?
my theory is that the explosion of the Swiss HQ caused so much damage that it screwed up his regeneration (from his SEP enhancement) and now he's stuck in a permanent loop of decay and regeneration
it's from Moira's origin trailer
So Doc do you think that he looks like he's in a permanent state of decay or an older looking Reyes with alot of scars. Cause i know ana looked terrified when she saw him but honestly i think it could be from the fact that she didn't know he was still a live
she seemed shocked when she saw his face, probably both because he was horrifically scarred and because she didn't expect him to be alive
from Bastet:
She had subdued Reaper, wrestling him to the ground. But
when she had stripped off the ghoulish mask and seen the
ruin of a face beneath, she recognized Gabriel Reyes, a friend
and comrade she’d known just as long as Jack. Gabriel proved
to be the real phantom as he’d faded into thin air, disappearing
like a whisper.```
i always assumed that Reyes did actually die and his body is rebuilding it's self over and over again. which sounds horrible. but i would like to know how in the hell did 76 get out of there alive???
ok so yea he looks pretty messed up which is understandable
Reyes and Morrison were both enhanced by the Soldier Enhancement Program - they have superhuman strength, agility and regeneration
so Soldier likely got badly injured, but was able to heal
maybe he wasn't as badly hurt as Reyes
Or maybe Moira did get some of the superhuman stuff out of Reyes and he just couldn't heal like Solider? just a theroy since she did the experiments on him (reyes) and all
from Reaper's official bio:
The few bodies recovered of those he kills are pale, empty husks drained of life, their cells showing signs of intense degradation. It is possible that he is a byproduct of failed genetic alteration which forces his cells to simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate.
It seems horrific. He probably suffers permanently.
i mean he still feels pain, cause in Recall when Winston electrocutes him he sounded in pain. and in infiltration he got smacked pretty hard and had to recover for a moment.
He does feel pain, and there is even a recent Moira/Reaper interaction where he does say he is in agony
Is it new ? I never heard that
is there any lore about lucio?
He led a revolution against Vishkar in Rio, which skyrocketed him to global celebrity status. Now he travels the world spreading his message of peace and social justice via his music.
And almost certainly joins Overwatch after the Null Sector attack on Rio.
He also (the following is spoilers for the book hero of numbani) ||Helps out Efi with orisa to capture doomfist at the Numbani Unity day celebrations||
Isn't Vishkar the corporation where Symm works ?
yes
So if Luçio joined Overwatch, Symm could be an ennemy of them...
Well vishkar aren't really enemies or allies to overwatch, the only enemy aspect seen from Vishkar is Sanjay, who is in the council of talon. So I guess vishkar is more or less being corrupted from them, but Symettra is starting to see through their perfections as seen in the comic 'A better world'
Yes I saw that she didn't agree with all Vishkar's actions
Symmetra is a bit on edge about Vishkars actions after her comic where they blew up a building for almost no reason
It’s kind of implied as well in her interaction with Sombra
“I’ve heard a lot about your employers, Ms. Vaswani.”
“what have you heard”
I am almost 100% sure that companies that have played minor roles till now are going to be a bigger deal in OW2
Like Vishkar, Helix, etc.
At least I hope so, anyway
that seems likely
Pharah is most likely going to intersect with Overwatch at some point, and meeting her would open a great opportunity to introduce Helix
Helix was also mentioned in Valkyrie
Yea, that too
We're getting Gothenburg (Sweden) and Monte Carlo (Monaco?) with release
I can imagine that they will be story maps
Not really sure about Monaco
probably, and we have heroes/storylines to go with them from the gameplay trailer
Gothenburg is Mercy related
Brigitte and Reinhardt going to see Torbjorn - Gothenburg
Ah, my bad
but she's a family friend of the Lindholm family
A Talon-oriented mission in Monaco would be quite cool
We're also getting a Lucio mission in Rio de Janeiro for sure
yes
I wonder what the Toronto mission will entail
probably something with Sojourn
Well, yea
Pharah is also half-Canadian
But she likely won't have anything to do with the Toronto mission
In the gameplay trailer, Max says "I can't do this..." while Monaco gameplay is shown
So your theory seems very likely
yeah
my guess is Max is going to betray Talon, maybe try to go to Overwatch for protection
That would be interesting
Opens the possibility for a 'defend a target' or 'defend a point' type of gamemode
he was pretty cordial with them in Storm Rising, and they might be willing to use him/his info against Talon
I don't see why they wouldn't
an "enemy of my enemy" sort of situation
I'm curious how long the overall storyline will be
I'm sure there is going to be more than the mission map that we saw
But they need to make it a fairly full-fledged story
I'm hoping the story will have arcs, so that the story can keep going after Null Sector is dealt with
after them maybe Vishkar becomes the primary threat, or a new faction is revealed
like how the Avengers have Hydra as a constant antagonist, but other factions and enemies pop up for story arcs
Talon is Overwatch's Hydra
Yup
I really hope that Blizzard does something with all this build-up
There is a lot of potential
if there's one thing Blizzard is good at, it's storytelling
True
we just have to be patient
Even the best writers can get bottlenecked by their superiors
But I have a lot of hope
Speaking of Hydra, I wonder if the Sombra's conspiracy is something similar to that.
We don't really know much about the Conspiracy
We know it concerns many different groups
i dont see the conspiracy being like Hydra, cause that's Talon (in my opinion) i just see conspiracy either like Dedsec or Anonymous. maybe more of a help the people or being down the system
is just me who thought brig was rein daughter and not from torbjorn
rein is more a father to her than torbjorn is
he's her godfather, and he was probably around her alot growing up so she might be alot closer with him
Reinhardt would tell Brig cool stories
She looks up to him, although she got her engineering skills from Torb
i always wondered even though i know that Torbjorn does like his children, i wonder by the time Brigs was born he maybe hadn't had alot of time to spend with her and thats why she is closer with Rein.
Was brig in the “dragon” comic?
yes
The one where rein beats him up?
Also is rein the last crusader
Cause I’m pretty sure the female one is dead too, along with Reinhardts friend
Reinhardt is most likely the last crusader
At least that we know of right now
It’s not confirmed if the other one died, but chances are they did or they retired
Reinhardt never mentions the other crusader, we don’t even know their name lol
Just Balderich
When are we going to see the OW squad stop the Junkers alreadyyyyyy
I want to see Winston vs Roadhog and Tracer vs Junkrat already aaaaaa
its not like theyre the main villain
they're 10x more interesting than most of the villains atm
the junkers arent hurting anyone
how
they literally killed people in the comic lmao
the Junkers aren't a threat to Overwatch
I'm not comparing
The junkers are a threat to the world
it'll have to be taken care of eventually
i think youre embracing them too much lol
Junkers mostly keep to themselves in the outback
junkers arent really a big deal to overwatch
they're not, but I also hate when actually interesting characters get less spotlight than they deserve
well ye get used to it
they're the comedy relief
and they've already gotten more spotlight than they deserve
Roadhog's side is definitely not as comedy as Junkrat
at most they might get like comics or something. there isnt any need for them in the main plot
Though I'm not saying like
'they need to be main plotline'
OW is made up of more than a few people (over time it will be again, anyway)
but again, far more interesting than 'talon sends plot armored sniper, Reaper, and Hacker playing on no one's side to distract Winston and the boys again since they definitely won't truly succeed' since that's inevitably what the lesser plot points are going to be between the main plotline
while there's a whole cast of opportunity
riot has this issue with league but that IP has too many characters to really blame them for it
they're doing better about it now though
ok?
you must have a macro set for that response
Reaper, Widowmaker and Sombra get a lot of attention because they're important to the main plot
the Junkers aren't
that doesn't mean we can't visit other things with a more serious tone
the comic did so swimmingly
just hope we see more
we will
its just not blizzard's priority rn
nothing is their priority is the issue
^
if that was their priority they would give us something to hype it up but they aren’t
unless their marketing team is a bunch of bots then i dont think ow2 is the only thing they are working on
They said Blizzcon 2021
the game has a big issue identifying itself
Overwatch doesn't have their own marketing team, that one's general for Blizzard
Team 4's priority is working on OW2
Marketing's priority right now is Shadowlands, OW2 will get hyped closer to release
the game doesn't have an issue identifying itself
the community has a misunderstanding of what OW2 will be
actually impatient
its not necessary to build a hype
the game's release will be hype
they will build the hype in the months before the release
Maybe a beta just after the Blizzcon ? In January ?
If you’re referring to the metro’s most recent comment (a data miner apparently, who leaked OW2’s announcement) saying that a beta could be released after blizzcon, then idk what to tell you
I’m kinda sceptical of it tho
Jeff said there would likely be a beta period before OW2 launches
because the maps and new heroes need testing
and maybe the talents
metro isn't a dataminer, he claims to have an informant (and despite this has gotten as much wrong as he has gotten right)
Metro is not a dataminer @swift mason
he is no more trustworthy than any of us
He had a source that told him stuff about Blizzcon 2019
Which he then played Broken Telephone with and was extremely smug about
And ended up only getting half of it right
He had a real source, but Metra fucked up his delivery and ended up spreading misinformation as fact
And genuinely believed it was fact.
You're probably best ignoring Metro.
They are not reliable
the game deff has a issue identifying itself
I didn't know the specifics of what he does, I just know that he claims that a beta would release straight after blizzcon, which I don't really believe
I wouldn't count on it. And even if we do get something, it might not even be a beta
It could just be a limited PTR or something to show off the new heroes
Or something to replace the lack of a playable Blizzcon demo
@solar pagoda what do you mean?
one week its a game about shooting shields next thing you know it’s a actual fps it can’t differ itself between the two
@solar pagoda 1 - This is the lore channel.
2 - Its always been an FPS. That hasn't changed.
Oh right didnt see the channel. And yes its a fps at its core, with a hero that has third person capabilities, one week your shooting shields next week they get nerfed so hard that you never see a shield, then you see them again when they get buffed for the 12020th time. my complaint isnt something that applies to casual players so its not a big issue but once you get up there, you start to question if its even an fps
1 - This is the lore channel.
Please define what an "actual FPS" is.
Frustrating per second
It was a rhetorical question.
Frustrating per second sounds about right
It does
Honestly, I don't really care how long OW2 takes
If that's the time they need to perfect it, so be it
I agree with reno, I just want overwatch 2 to be perfect, if it takes a year, as long as its not just a 20 min campaign and 2 new heros for 60 bucks then ill be mad, but something tells me it wont considering they have been working on it for over a year
it looks more substantial than that
I feel like OW2 is gonna be greater than we anticipate
That's obvious
Lack of news and updates probably means that they’re tentative on designs and changes
However, time doesn't necessarily mean quality
Some games just take a long time and still end up being shit
Others take long and are masterpieces
I trust Blizzard with this honestly
Blizzard, historically, makes good games
had some blizzard game
I'm not sure how much Activision has a say nowadays
who failed?
all games from blizzard is good right?
Well
'good' is subjective
But yea, overall, most are pretty decent
Most of the games are made by different people too
Which is quite surprising
hots is ok but im not fan of moba, hearthstone i know so many people love it but im not fan of card games
Well, like I said
wow im played years ago when panda class had come
Taste is very subjective
this is getting off topic
ok anyway
im expect from ow 2 release
four heroes and more than
20 story missions
to be worth
the heroes im expect to come is soujorn, junker queen, that leader from null sector and mauga
Have Blizzards actually said there will be just 5 new heroes?
I think that's just the estimate.
I don't think we have a specific number
But somewhere around 3-5 seems about right
There was some sort of 'leak' with silhouettes of the supposedly new heroes
But I don't think anything ever came of that
echo had been the last hero from ow 1 and yet stil have few characters in the game
at least need 50 on ow 2
...why?
Yeah, what are you talking about?
people just ask to release so many characters in game
I don't think that releasing a lot of heroes is a good idea
Neither for the lore nor for the game
No, it is. They just aren't going to do it because the amount of work that would require would be huge.
I don't think it is
Introducing too many new factors into the story isn't a good idea
Overwatch launched with 21 heroes and did just fine.
Because they started with a completely new story
With brand new characters
A brand new world
If you released 10 new heroes, then it would become a jumble of names and dates and locations and interactions and how they fit into the story
Even one hero release fleshes out the story quite a lot
10 isn't even that many for the point your trying to make.
It is, though
if it was 20+ I could understand.
10 is an absolutely crazy amount of new heroes to add
To a pre-built story
I wouldn't mind them adding the heroes over a certain time period
There are already plenty of characters that could already become heroes, it's not unreasonable to think they could write a few more.
What do you mean
I don't think there will be any
'New events'?
You mean like seasonal events?
I think they said it will be the same events.
yes
I am sure they will bring back the Archives events
And I don't see why they wouldn't make the other events viable too
They talked about story events, but I don't think we have gotten any info about new events
The silhouette picture wasn’t a leak, just a small teaser Blizzard put I think
AFAIK it was proven to be fake
Oh
Do you mean the one with four heroes?
There was a leak
of four hero silhouettes
Some game magazine editor said he saw it in a private showing or somethin
Thought that was the one you meant
the picture itself isn't a leak
it's reconstructed from his description
Game Informer Executive Editor Andrew Reiner
I heard that wasn't a leak too.
Said that Jeff showed him a powerpoint of some sorts
and one of the slides had the silhouettes
so i guess he just reconstructed them from his memory?
The picture looks kinda iffy though
I'm not sure how reliable it is
I haven't seen it, but it's based on one guys description so it's not going to be accurate.
The point is, we know we are getting at least 5 new heroes.
I can't post pictures here, but look up 'OW2 silhouettes'
Like I said, I think somewhere around 3-5 seems to be about right
Less than 5 would be to few.
More than 5 seems unlikely but would be nice.
We're getting Sojourn for sure
And getting 3-4 more heroes with her doesn't seem too crazy
More than 5 would be a little over the top though, in my opinion
You say that like it's bad for us if we get more new heroes.
It's more work for Blizzard sure, but we only benefit from it.
I don't think overloading the story with completely new characters is a good idea
For us or for blizzard
But anyways, I have high hopes for OW2
I really hope that Team 4 can deliver
I think your overestimating how many new heroes is "overloading" the story. But whatever.
i mean they can add as many characters without overloading it
some characters will always just be side characters
yeah
Honestly, I would rather have 4-5 fully fleshed out characters
and through comics, animated shorts, etc - they can give each character a cameo
think about the shitty mcu movies
just to keep the game with new content
I really wanna know if the 4 maps that we got revealed are going to be it for the game at release
most likely, no one will want to buy ow 2 if it doesnt give u a large content bump
I think we are getting 7 new maps at least. 3 push maps and one for every existing game mode.
Jeff said multiple maps for each mode
so 10 minimum, including push
he also said the number of new maps will be like at launch - so I'd expect 3 new maps per mode
15 minimum
For heroes, I’d expect around maybe 6 as well as potential reworks for existing heroes
Like Symmetra-level reworks which we have not had in a while
I don't expect any heroes to get reworked
the devs said they want to avoid reworks, and would rather just make a new hero
Who are playing now?
yo anyone wanna speculate the next hero?
Sojourn
she's probably damage
they're still going to add new damage heroes, they can't just stop completely
by role i mean like what she dos in game, like flanking, dive, etc
idk, this is the lore channel
right
what if widow turns back to normal in Overwatch 2 owo
as in, her personality slowly seeps back
unlikely
