I think her disappearing for months at a time is the inverse of blinking. Normally, she pushes her own time forward, so she appears to disappear momentarily and teleport forwards. The inverse of that is essentially holding her own time in place while the rest of the world goes forward, so she disappears and reappears in the same place later.
