So it got shut down, but not after stopping Talon (mostly). Now Doomfist, the leader of Talon, is out of jail and he's working with Null Sector, although probably only temporarily.

I'll try to give an explanation for the story and go on from there
Basically the world was manufacturing labor robots some odd years ago in the past. The company that made them was shut down because some white collar crime and as a result no more robots were made. The factories however that made these robots started pumping out war machines and these factories were in every major country in the world. Eventually the world was put into a World war type scenario and no country really alone was able to deal with them so they decided to pull in their resources together to form a strike team to take them down.
America did the super soldier thing like Captain America and sent in two members. Morrison and Reyes.
Egypt sent in one of their elite snipers with a cybernetic eye, Ana Amari
Sweden sent in one of their chief engineers Torbjorn Lindholm
Germany sent in one of their Crusaders, Reinhardt Lindholm
And these individuals basically went in and eventually shut down all the omniums, eventually finding the organization of Overwatch. Which was a world peacekeeping organization.

Sigma; A physicist who was in a terrible accident that may or may not make actual black holes
Sombra; A victim of the first omnic Crisis and world renowned Hacker who's essentially trying to take control of the world from the shadows and is just using Talon to further her own ends
WidowMaker: Former wife of an Overwatch leader that was brainwashed and murdered her husband and is currently a Sniper for Talon.
Moira: A geneticist who is a head of a technocracy, Oasis and also former blackwatch member who may or may not be responsible for Gabriel turning evil and brainwashing Widowmaker. This hasn't been confirmed yet.
