Doomfist I'd assume want a historically bad event to trigger similar growth instead of letting humanity almost plateau
cause complacency I guess is bad and against his ideology
Ok because i was reading an overwatch twitter mini story thing from @peak escarp and ana said that to 76 and 76 replied “you sound just like angela”
sounds well written, based on that.
but anyways yea. Doomfist is the "peace = stagnation" type.
Also it's okay
Like it's good but besides a couple key details they didn't really do much
Like Reyes having a family, Mercy being close to egypt, and Egypt being kinda crapped on and being scavenged on by Hakim
And of course the one thing everyone blew the hell up over, that soldier 76 had a boyfriend and Ana roofied him to let him sleep
it gave us more detail on Jack and Ana's personalities
Jack is childish, and will try to pout his way out of trouble
Ana's not a great cook or a very good nurse
is this the Bastet story?
yes
i personally enjoyed that one quite a bit
it also told us that Pharah hasn't responded to the letter Ana wrote to her
Bright side, we know pharah knows Ana is alive now, probably and it confirms in the new year comic that the family reaper was stalking is likely his kid's family
whether it's the son or daughter he was looking at no idea but I don't think it really matters all that much
I want a mercy cinematic, i just feel like it would belong since shes such an iconic hero
If they're doing set up for the heroes, then probably? Unless she's coming in phase 2
What's the relationship between the Omnica Corp. and SST Laboratories?
Im pretty sure sst labs made bastion units
sst built the units while omnica built the omniums?
Im pretty sure they only made bastion units
I know omnica was one of the prime reasons for the omnic crisis though
@supple bear @inner galleon Omnica made the Omniums, which were self improving factories that mass produced Omnics.
SST Labrotories was a tech company that built robots such as the Bastion peacekeepers.
Omniums, during the time of the crisis, took the Bastion design and further weaponized it
No one makes Bastions anymore because they were a symbol of the crisis
ok thx
Do we have a guess for the amount of time that passed between when Omnica was dissolved and when the omniums re-activated?
@limpid agate thats what i was thinking but wasnt sure
Maybe a decade?
what makes you think that?

Lemme check Overwatch is Back
What came next is well-documented. The omniums began to break down. Independent analysis showed they would never come close to meeting the corporation's promises of growth and output. Omnica was investigated and forcibly dissolved after evidence of fraud was uncovered, its omniums shut down.
That is why it came as such a surprise when these defunct, dismantled omniums woke themselves back up and immediately launched a military campaign against all of humanity.
I'd say a decade is a good time for the company to be shut down.
There are companies that have been producing stuff for omnics since the 20s
And the game is projected to take place in the 70s
Meaning the war would be 40s
seems reasonable
Oh yeah yeah

Final warning
Moving swiftly onwards.
So in Bastet was reaper working for talon or was he doing something else?
Reaper isn't in Bastet
Bastet takes place after Old Soldiers
Which is when he is in Talon
When Mcree addresses Echo as 'partner', I don't think it necessarily means they were actual partners previously
I think that in the South, partner is used the same way as we use friend or buddy
maybe
but he hasn't used "partner" for anyone else
which you would expect if it was just slang

Is that liao beside rein?
Assumingly
We don’t know much about liao other than they were one of the first early members
So very likely that is liao but no confirmation and no confirmation if they chose to keep the design that way
Also likely to be a medic of sorts or sojourn being a medic because otherwise players wouldn’t get archives with the original members and we’d be stuck with mercy the entire time which I dont think anyone wants all the time.
where is the funny channel?
i think that kinda merged with general chat
How long was the first Omnic Crisis?
Rough estimate. If we are going with the idea that overwatch was around for 20 years in their golden age and if we are right that the current time line takes place in 2070s
Then probably a decade or so?
Current setting: 2070s
5 years ago overwatch shut down
Overwatch around for 20 years
This time frame to roughly
2016- 2040’s?-2050’s?
We just need a timeline of when omnica shut down and we should more or less be good
We do know that soldier and reaper were enhanced with super soldier juice when they were like 18-20 and if jack is like in his 50’s I’d say the war probably took place in the 2020’s to 2040’s?
Unless america had the juices stored
Thats assuming our assumptions are correct
my only source was a wiki and idk how reliable that is
on its timeline page, it listed that the omnic crisis started 30 yrs ago and was declared over 26 years ago
but on its omnic crisis page it says that it was a decade long period of war
Look at the gamepedia. Much more helpful with sources cited
Tbh mentioning D-day and getting banned for it is a bit off. Whilst technically shit posting it is the anniversary around this time I think you could have just warned him off as it is a sensitive topic
Soldier is in his mid to late 50’s
Game takes place in 2070’s
Soldier got enhanced in his 18-20’s meaning it probably took place place maybe 2030’s-2040’s leaving room for the golden age up to the 2060’s
If he wanted to bring it up then he could have done so in general.
Doing it here shows either idiocy or a lack of respect for what this specific channel was made for I’d assume
does the gamepedia definitively say the length of time?
Soldier didn't get enhanced at 18-20
he enlisted at 18
the omnic crisis happened 30 years before OW present day
so if present day is the 2070s, the omnic crisis was in the 2040s
based on various sources, the crisis lasted about 5 years
knowing when things happen is an interesting part of the lore
Cause and consequences are more important I think
Thats ur interest then no argue in that
Where is the bragging?
We’re literally just trying to piece together when crap happened to get a bigger picture spot of know what leads to what
If you start a boycott against blizzard they'd probably tell you
Because haven't they realeased a statement saying they are nearly ready to return to the present day in the OW universe to continue lore
is rein the oldest?
Insert UwU
i love that XD
Sadly as most games
They’re afraid of putting a concrete timeline
Cause
Leeway for writers so they dont have issues with stuff
My own theory tho
the more concrete information, the more they have to retcon to fit in new information
you're right though
if they leave things vague, they have room to say things like "Moira was there all along"
i love lore though 😦 its always interesting to read new theories
I like theories as long as their logic is sound
that's the main reason the First Strike comic got cancelled despite being basically finished
they decided to leave things vague
How much more concrete did they make it that they couldn’t just redo text panels?
I assume you’ve read it doc?
And if not can you send what you do have on it?
part of the inconsistency is Rein's appearance
he looks old here
he should look like he does in Honor and Glory
Who would we assume the omnic is then
Cause I assume not every omnic that looks like zen went psycho killer robot like the bastions or OR-14
there were probably civilian omnics
But wouldn’t civilian like omnics also like be able to help? Maybe the omnic came from that specific omnium or has an idea about how it works or where it goes?
True
think of other groups of enemy civilians during wars - what happens to them? they get put away in camps and excluded from anything involving the war
I’m kinda looking at that omnic the same way as like a nazi deserter would appear
Or like wouldn’t it be that the omnics appear to be just robots and thus in a robot rebellion of sorts
Wouldn’t it be just like scrap them?
Cause at that point I dont think they were considered ppl
yt ya boi wade
Is that a shitpost?
Do we know why moira got her eye like that?
I mean her blackwatch skin doesnt have it
she was likely born with heterochromia
which might have prompted her curiosity into genetics
so if omnic crisis occurred in 2040s, then which decade did Omnica begin building omniums?
2020s?
we don't know much about the timeline of Omnica
And to have one in every major country is not an easy feat to do in a couple years
Let alone mass producing so many they make up what I assume to be a good chunk of the population
I’m basing this off Zarya’s searching and how they seem everywhere from dorado, to the shimada clan, to celebrities in hollywood, and of course numbani
Ashe’s gang has omnics besides Bob as well
So that leads me to believe they were around for awhile
I more so wanna know about the south china sea omnium cause that one is seemingly still open which shouldn’t be the case if overwatch was tasked with shutting all of them down
Theres this silver thing around her left eye
The plate thing?
I assume just a design choice for her outfit or something
Her anniversary one is a reference to dragon ball z
But on blackwatch she doesnt have it
now THIS is a Dragonball reference
the plate on Moira's face seems to be just decorative
As genjis red eyes in retribution?
Those were probably there just for dramatic effect as well as to show that genji’s eyes were likely severely damaged by Hanzo as well to show that the eyes were likely prosthetics as well
Genji did lose his feet and I assume an Arm to Hanzo as well as having scars on his face so I wouldnt put it past Hanzo to not go for the eyes
Thats unlikely
I mean a cut that deep to eye could be fatal
And as we see in the dragons cinematic they r brown pale and sick
Not the sharp red we see on retribution
Anyways genji on blackwatch seems really creepy rather than the genji we all know
Though its highly unlikely that hanzo had "cut" a leg and an arm
Cause on hanamura theres a slash of blood on the writing
Likely a cut
But not that huge of a cut though
Otherwise the whole ground would be covered in blood
it was probably cleaned up
the scroll was probably kept as-is because it was unique and couldn't be cleaned
remember, Hanamura is like 10 years after their fight
I know but if it was cleaned then that writing couldve been replaced too
I mean shimada clan doesnt seem to be short in money
some things can't be replaced
Meh I dont think thats the issue
There a cut and a slash of blood
And its his brother
He wont cut him into pieces
Thats dumb
well regardless of how Hanzo actually injured him, he did lose an arm and both legs
I wont say hanzo did it
But thats good to know
The arm and leg thing for sure he did it
Scars on the face too
Thats not even up for debate
But how do u say he lost two legs and an arm?
@peak escarp you wanna take this over?
I completely disagree and I wont continue this conversation lol
I dont have all the evidence stored on my person like you do
Cause hanzo aint a maniac
look at his knees
Or a serial killer
those are not human joints
and he has shuriken stored inside his right arm, so that's not flesh either
Did you not even read the thing about their last battle with eachother before genji was forced into blackwatch?
Or the guilt he felt that made him go awol from the shimada clan?
Maybe the thighs are intact
Following the clan leader's untimely death, Genji's older brother, Hanzo, demanded that Genji take a more active role in their late father's empire. Genji refused, enraging Hanzo. The tension between the brothers built to a violent confrontation that left Genji on the verge of dying.
Still cut off his damn legs
But theres no evidence on how he lost them is there
Upon the death of his father, the clan elders instructed Hanzo to straighten out his wayward younger brother so that he, too, might help rule the Shimada empire. When his brother refused, Hanzo was forced to kill him. This act broke Hanzo's heart and drove him to reject his father's legacy, ultimately leading him to abandon the clan and all that he had worked so hard to attain.
Yea doc ive read them before
Sorry yea, the cyborg ninja lost them in a terrible car accident after he was nearly killed by his brother who thought he killed him
Genji died almost by hanzo
True no doubt
But those things those augmentation aint for the battle
then what is this whole argument about?
I mean not all of them
Sword fight
Always ends up with a huge cut
Thats it
The opponent goes on the ground
Not like cutting legs cutting arm cutting eyes
And only a small stain of blood
Dude you’re being stubbornly in denial if you genuinely do not think Hanzo was responsible for genji’s body needing the prosthetic in the first place.
There is a literal voice line in retribution where Genji is asked why he joined blackwatch and his response was so that he could walk again.
facts:
- Hanzo was forced to kill his brother after he wouldn't fall in line
- Hanzo used a sword
- there is evidence on the Hanamura map suggesting a single powerful slash
- Genji is missing both legs above the knees and his right arm.
And as u can see theres not much lore about it given
That is very indicative that hanzo fucked genji up to the point where he could not walk
So all these r assumptions
- Genji's lower torso is intact
For all we know hanzo almost killed genji thats all
He did kill genji
He thought he did anyway
Until genji was rescued
And then put back together in the blackwatch form we see then
so are you
No dude ur being stupidly stubborn
you are assuming Hanzo couldn't/didn't cut off Genji's arm and legs
yes
Other than that are just assumptions
that's what is confirmed
Yea exactly
but based on what we know, it is likely that Genji lost his limbs in the same fight
U say hanzo cut it I'll say there was a car accident while genji was being rescued
You are saying “hanzo didnt fuck over genji and take an arm and leg” when genji himself said he joined blackwatch so he could walk again implying he couldnt at the start and he was only in overwatch custody after being rescued. Unless you really want me to believe hanzo fought genji who was crippled already
Nothing has been approved
U cant blame me for saying that
U get what I mean?
@peak escarp yea "likely"
You are being an actual dumb ass rn and I refuse to deal with your troll ass
So all these are just assumptions
yes
It hasnt been approved
I never said they weren't assumptions
Thats it
@worthy rose That's not very nice
I don't think anyone said they weren't assumtions
What's the subject
Thanks for being reasonable
discussing when Genji lost his legs/arm
Well this other guy talk likr his been in the field when genji died
it's likely they were severed in his fight with Hanzo, although that isn't confirmed
But actually I didnt read a single word of what he said lol
Should have been lost thanks yo his battle with Hanzo given the circumstances
Likely

Genji refused, enraging Hanzo. The tension between the brothers built to a violent confrontation that left Genji on the verge of dying If he lost his limbs anytime, sounds like this
@limpid agate he saying he doesnt beliebe genji lost his arm and legs to hanzo only because he thinks hanzo wouldnt do that with no other evidence. Then constantly defaults to “BUT IT WASN’T CONFIRMED! He could have been crippled due to whatever before the battle” and I’m taking this as he’s trolling
No excuse to call someone a dumbass
I think plenty if he basically is trolling
It takes time distinguish between trolling, stubborn and wrong, and dumb
Sounds to me like the second
when someone says "it wasn't confirmed" and it hasn't been confirmed, then you just agree and move on
The only thing said is that genji was on the verge of dying
if it has been confirmed, then provide sources
Nothin about losing anything
the fact remains that he is missing limbs
Doc now u are talking my language
and it's unlikely that he lost those limbs at a different time
Provide the source was the best thing brought up here!
just because the bios don't mention something doesn't mean it didn't happen
Ashe's bio doesn't mention the Overwatch sting operation that got McCree busted
Mercy's bio doesn't mention rescuing Genji
Hmm interesting.
The bios are lacking in details
Genji lost his other arm too?
I mean in storm rising its the original skin that we know
So do we assume that he lost that too?
it could be armor plated
He might still have his left
He probably got it removed.
I think the genji voice line is plenty of evidence because of the following reasons.
- It signals that at the time of joining blackwatch, he could not walk and since he doesnt have any feet, I’m taking it as he was fucked up in a serious incident.
- If genji was crippled prior, then why did he not get legs since the Shimada clan seems to have had money with them being a criminal organization and all which I’m taking to mean he had use of his arms and legs before joining blackwatch.
That puts it in an extremely tight timeframe to lose arms with it extremely pointing at the battle with Hanzo. Unless you wanna claim that he was ran over by a car while or after being rescued by people
with flesh underneath
We only know his lost his legs and right arm
Kaeore
"I wanted to walk again" could have meant that his spine was severed
and he was paralyzed
with healthy but otherwise useless legs
He literally has cyber toes on the black watch skin
yes
Could be amputated
Would him having to get his body amputated, still not be indicative to “It’s hanzo’s fault that he is the way he is currently?”
all we know is, somewhere between his fight with Hanzo and when we first see him in his Blackwatch body (earliest being when Reyes recruits Moira) he lost his limbs
The semantics don’t matter in this regard if the result is still the same here
one way or another, yes, it is Hanzo's fault
getting too attached to one explanation is how common misconceptions happen
We are literally arguing over the semantics of how much of genji was fucked up by hanzo when the ending result answer is “Hanzo fucked over genji severely either personally dismembering his brother or hurting him so badly he required amputation and prosthetics. “ in which case adds nothing because the result is the same and we learned nothing. Other guy wants to believe in every answer but the one where Hanzo was responsible for genji’s prosthetics and would rather believe he was in a car accident or something else
Yes. Michael chu wrote genji to be fully recovered, only to let him go, get in a car crash and then come back to blackwatch with new prosthetics
Totally
Absolutely
Or would you rather me take the other option where genji was crippled prior to the battle and hanzo demanded that his crippled younger brother take a more action oriented role.
nobody is suggesting that
we know Genji was ablebodied before his fight with Hanzo
Buggy was just clarifying that it was never confirmed that Hanzo cut off his limbs
he agreed that it was likely
Yes Genji totally was run over by a hover car
I wonder what "Overwatch 2" will mean for the future of the lore
probably nothing
if the rumor is true and it's a PvE game, then it could be heavily lore-based
wasn't it a meme?
no
Kotaku has a full story and I know people don't like them but again Jason Schreier is pretty accurate
even if it does get announced at Blizzcon, it'll still be a couple years for it to be released
this isnt very important but the academy dva skin has a different hair color then what current dva does
can we assume that she dyed her hair
yeah
could've darkened over time but im not an expert on hair
maybe she wanted to get a closer color to her original hair color after the academy hair
which is why it isnt the exact same
it depends on which hair color is the natural hair color
what are those squid like things?
they're Gwishin
the might be talking about the Pachimari

Do we know why Mcree left the Deadlock Gang?
And honestly, I still feel like Ashe and McCree were romantically involved at some point, or were really, really good friends
he got busted by Overwatch in a sting operation
and he was given the option of "join Blackwatch or go to jail"
Ah
Ashe and McCree were never romantically involved, but they were good friends
and (I think) Ashe had some unrequited feelings for McCree
I mean, she kept a photo of her and him on her bike for like 2-3 decades
And the way she greets him, it doesn't seem right
'Jesse McCree, been a while. You promised you'd write.'
Doesn't seem like the way to greet someone who you hate for 'betraying' you
The roadtrip of Ashe ang her the Deadlock's after settle some unfinished business with McCree in this animated short: Roadtrip Learn more about Ashe: https:/...
she says she hates him
but even Bob can see what's up
It was confirmed by Chu they weren't ever dating, but it doesn't mean that one or both didn't have feelings
right
Also, if Chu says something on Twitter, we consider it canon, right?
yes
I am just rewatching the short, and I noticed a little detail. On the picture, you can see that it is almost torn in half, but at the last moment, I guess she reconsidered. Wish I could post a pic
I mean, i guess it could also have been folded
Ah
mb
She even cut out BOB, making it exclusively of her and McCree
Have you heard about the supposed new OW game?
there's not much to hear
just that another Overwatch game is likely to be announced at Blizzcon, and it's rumored to be a PvE game in the style of Left 4 Dead
Yea, and as Doc pointed out, you can see the tape

that wouldn't be sustainable
That would be impossible
It is insanity, but not for positive reasons
It would be insanity because you would just be releasing the same hero 50 times, but a different colour

when i saw her in the ashe trailer i was like "I've seen her somewhere before"
Hey. Just my thoughts on "Overwatch 2". Recently we have learnt that Blizzard compares its universe to MCU, and we are close to Avengers-like moment. I think "Overwatch 2" isn't about the game, but this universe is about to enter its Phase 2.
if they’re making a big enough deal about an overwatch change to call it ow2, it won’t be primarily about lore
but it could happen as part of it
Yes, a huge overhaul of everything. 3CP, role queue, different ranks, clans, you name it. AND PvE mode with per hero leveling and talent trees 😍
Is there a reason that zen has 9 dots on his forehead?
The nine dots on Zen's head refers to the Jieba - 9 dots inscribed on a shaolin monk's forehead - that symbolize that the monk has finished his training
Each of the dots represent a fundamental lesson in the shaolin teachings that the monk has mastered
There are also examples of them being used in Buddhism with similar symbolism, or just decorative
Nice tnx bud
The guy who revealed OW2 in the first place said it will be primarily PVE
ow2 is athing now?
it's a rumor
It wasn't revealed by an official Blizzard employee, so just a rumour
I wonder, I was just rewatching Honor and Glory, but why wasn't Reinhardt hurt more because of the cut?
Their swords must be helluva hot and sharp, since they pierced the armor
So it should've went in quite far, but seemed to just barely graze the eye
it was just a grazing blow
It actually looks hot enough that it cauterized the wound while it made the cut
But then it doesn't make sense, why didn't the OR14 just go for the killing blow?
I mean u asking that is like asking why omniums didnt use chemical weapons to destroy humanity when they’re robots
@iron plume It's not called OW2
The framework is
if it’s a hots-ish “ow 2.0” it will be a big change in gameplay first and foremost
Second Overwatch Game
wow
you wanna reply to any of the actual substance in my messag, feel free
Your message was based on the suggestion that it is Overwatch 2
My response is that's not wholly accurate given the context
And was just a misleading headline
It can be anything
the person i’m replying to is suggesting the “anything” is a big overhaul
which it might well be
and i laid out my thoughts on that
again if you wanna respond to those, by all means
I'll say they whatever it is, whether it's progression of lore or not
It's a new game
it's hard to imagine they'd make a new game and not put any new lore in it
probably ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Hearthstone/HotS
Heroes of the Storm has its own lore
As for why the OR14 didn't kill Reinhardt
Maybe it just wanted to push Reinhardt back and not kill him yet
Also, what is that sword made of and where'd the OR-14 pull it from
The OR-14s aren't that fast so using a long weapon to knock an enemy back who is just out of reach makes sense
And I know the way that characters jump around Eichenwalde in Honor and Glory is inconsistent, but are there two OR-14s?
there were several
OK
I don't see any reason for them to not kill him tbh
But, like Doc said, it was for the plot
Pushing Reinhardt back was possibly more convenient at the time
But I digress there's no great reason
we can try to find lore reasons for everything, but sometimes, it's just what has to happen to keep the story consistent
I mean, if it was a person, I would see some sort of moral dilemma, but its a robot
programmed to do something
but like Doc said, its for plot
Perhaps just a misjudged swing or rein is just extra tough and resilient
Robots can make errors after all
True. I mean, if we were going into technicalities, if a blade is hot enough to cauterize a wound WHILE its cutting, I dont think it matters how tough you are. It would go through you like butter
I was more geared towards the math error within the omnic rather than riens resilience
@hollow notch why do you do this lmao surely you'd rather see who gets it
also why here of all places
this guy just gifted 200 dollars worth of nitro
I wonder if Hanzo has anger management issues, and that's why telling Genji "straighten up and help lead the clan" turned into attempted murder
@peak escarp oof
that's not something a well-adjusted individual would resort to
he also seemed to fly off the handle in Dragons when he realized Genji wasn't dead
Hanzo also seems (at least in Dragons) to be a relentless cynic where genji is an optimist
I mean
Hanzo was on his redemption path. Trying to honor his brother and right his wrongs
I honestly don't know his intent and such anymore
Like in the game there are voice lines where Doom and Widow try to get him to join their side in return, they'd help rebuild the shimada clan
which means either
Hanzo loves the clan still and wants to rebuild it, or widow and doom don't know his motivations at all
And Hanzo is a cynic cause he thought he did something that could never be forgiven and felt a lot of shame and guilt over it whereas genji is like "Bro. I forgive you. I need your help now. I believe you'll make the right choice"
when did gabriel reyes first appear as Reaper
chronologically
i've seen some sources say it his first appearance was after the Switzerland HQ incident and some saying even before that
I mean, it would've been impossible for it to happen before
Reaper has existed for decades
and what was the first time he made an appearance?
unknown
the first time chronologically that we see him is Recall
but that's 5 years after the Swiss HQ explosion
So we know he's existed earlier that the Swiss HQ incident but we don't know what he did?
just what's in his bio
I mean, I might be confused, but what do you mean 'existed before Swiss HQ'
Reaper is Reyes who was modified genetically by Moira
And Reyes was still very much Reyes during the Swiss HQ
I mean, unless she did the experiments to him before it, but that doesn't seem right
we don't really know exactly what point reaper became reyes
er
reyes became reaper
I assume his facial deformity must be post the swiss incident
Or when did overwatch profile the villian reaper
according to Reaper's bio, he has been active for decades
that doesn't necessarily mean Reyes has been Reaper for decades
I like the theory that Reaper was an urban legend inspired by Reyes doing assassinations and whatnot for Blackwatch
and when Reyes needed a new persona, he just took up the name the public had unknowingly given him already
@half pasture how do u say he has facial deformity?
@peak escarp u mean we first saw him as reaper in recall?
And doc about hanzo as u have mentioned the other day, he didnt attempt to murder his brother, the clan somehow forced him to kill him
I mean, forced of not, he did 'murder' Genji
yeah
whats an overwatch
Overwatch is like if you took the avengers and mixed them with the UN and basically let them do good work.
overwatch is good.
They are the main protagonists of the game yes

I was just wondered if he would go really dark and murder happy because that would be a real strange character concept
Uhh no? Torb seems pretty stable and hard in his ways. I doubt he’d go murder happy.
yea, he'd be grieving for a while id imagine, but i doubt he'd turn to murder
But granted it does bring up to question who talon is willing to take as hostage cause they made Widowmaker into who she is because she was the wife of one of their biggest thorns
@foggy notch what I mean is, Recall is the earliest point in the timeline that we the audience see Reaper
Tracer is the baby of Winston and Widowmaker who time traveled from an alternative dimension where she is married to a good doomfist, who also happens to be the loving father of Torbjörn.
that's hot
And, Soldier and Reaper are secretly in love, and Reaper is pregnant with their twins, which is why he's so moody.

dont expect anything for another 2-3 weeks
akinjide adeyemi is 31
not likely @hoary tendon
What is likely to be 31
@cunning ledge Pretty sure Queen was deconfirmwd for 31
Akinjide Adeyemi is unlikely because he's dead
or the Storm Rising omnic
I just mean like, personally
Rising Storm omnic seems quite likely out of the known options
then again, they could be saving him for something big
What I would want for Overwatch 2 is a singleplayer story based game where you start off with only Winston and you get Tracer in the tutorial. I'd think of it as like a big map where doing missions unlocks other paths for more missions, and you can unlock other agents along the way via different methods. Maybe there could be archived missions thrown in there along the way where you'd have to unlock those agents to do those missions. Might be hard to visualize what I'm trying to say because I'm terrible at explaining ideas but I think it'd be cool.
It reminds me of the super smash bros ultimate world of light campaign
kinda like that
You start off as Kirby and gradually unlock everyone else
honestly, I agree-
but I don't really want it to be like WOL , for the overworld part-
the customized situations would be pretty interesting-
but you wouldn't just be getting heroes by fighting them (yes i know i 100%ed it on hard), i mean you could have an encounter on some of them, but maybe some of them could join in the middle of a mission
everyone's 100%ed WOL on hard
~~just because you don't have a life doesn't mean we do ~~
lmao
yeah that's fair
nooffensebtw
lets not turn this into a smash chat as much as i'd like to
On normal .-.
this is overwatch lore channel
Lol
yeah-
I hope that they'd make you like-
Sometimes try certain heroes tho
for specific situations-
Yeah
Like.. maybe suddenly a 1v1 widow duel-
or the next 'quest' or smth being you as a mercy trynna save a bad team-
Like a certain rule for a battle would be only snipers or only supports
!!loreonly please and thank you
Or no heals

yeah, they're right-
Doesnt ow2 count as lore?
Shitposting? How dare you
It is the story mode part
you're not talking about ow2 anymore
for the overwatch campaign it could be singleplayer with bots on your team or you could get friends to join you if they have the mission unlocked
we are tho?
or, of course, randoms across the world
that's also a fair point we wouldn't want that
https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/agg692/made_mockups_for_an_overwatch_story_mode_based_on/ this is the post i was looking for, i love this post
while they wouldnt have to do it like this because it wouldn't be an expansion, i still really like it
Wow, that is amazing
It looks pretty. The problems are more logistics, but it looks pretty.
I really hope that the author of that post pursues a career with Blizzard, because that looks awesome graphics wise
Has some issues with layout and font and such , but wow
Can Genji piss or not?
Yea he has a switch to piss
One thing I think a lot of people missed about Baptiste
In the events if people go down to the assassin, they usually go "GET HER OFF" or something of the sort
Baptiste: "SHOOT HER"
does genji still have a bladder?
my man is the fastest to say "no just fucking shoot her in the head"
or is his heart powered through cybernetics
damn thats kinda dark especially since bap used to be a part of talon
a grunt
well he got to lieutenant
and he's supposed to be the guy going around doing humanitarian acts
Genji's lower body is intact
It does show how selfless Baptiste can be in that situation though
He told them to kill her instead of saving him
Or at least focus on killing her
wha
question mark
Do you have a question
no
!!loreOnly
This channel is for serious discussion strictly related to the lore of Overwatch. Shitposting will result in a loss of access.
The bap part just makes no sense
When pinned by the Assassin, Baptiste says "shoot her" where every other hero says "get her off"
Isn't it just the same thing though,
The suggestion was that it was because Baptiste is more selfless, prioritizing removing the threat (with himself as bait) rather than his own safety.
"She's on me, get her off" vs "She's on me, now is your chance to kill her"
That's more different now
Fair enough
So, what's up with Hanzo exactly
He's against the Shimada Clan, Talon and Overwatch?
tbh, p. good question
I think?
I'm not really sure-
but there's no way he's with shimada, talon or OW
Cause, he left the Shimadas, he refuses to join Talon or OW
so, what's his point?
just to fulfil the dragons story?
Basically
Hanzo tried and thought he did in fact kill Genji and after doing that, he left the shimada clan in shame
of which he was the leader
Then became a mercenary of sorts while the Shimada clan sent people to kill him
He’s been told to pick a side by genji so he may choose one in the future
Genji, being aware of Hanzo's struggle with redemption decides to forgive his elder brother for what he did
and Genji, probably aware of Overwatch's current dire state
and aware that they could probably use all the help they can get
is trying to sway his brother to his side and it kinda foreshadows this
In the Dragon's cinematic, the story of the dragon is that both the blue and green dragons are working to fix the world. Either meaning likely Hanzo joins genji in his Overwatch work and or they work to rebuild the shimada clan which is significantly less likely
The only reason why I assume Hanzo didn't is because he probably is coming to terms with Genji being alive and redemption being possible
And also cause Genji didn't really like
Tell him where to go to "Pick a side"
Genji literally just did a cool guy poof without telling him where to go or what to do
Kinda funny if you think about it
Helo
just sad
Genji probably assumed Hanzo was smart enough to figure out where to go if he wanted to find him
inb4 he assumed wrong
Hanzo joining new Overwatch.... I don't know.
I dont know if he would
I still think he's going to fly solo for now.
but Genji did make the offer
if he ever wants to reconcile with Genji, he knows where to find him
Not confirmed
Thank you so much!!!!
You're welcome
the only confirmed queer heroes are Soldier and Tracer
this channel isn't for headcanon
No evidence for or against.
Thank you for letting me know 😄
Besides the lack of a statement, which is weak evidence for default.
They haven't said, so she most likely isn't
I never said she was btw, superduper, i was just sad
Yeah no I understand I just didn't know Im sorry
Yo its fine bro, you're human
I get the need and want for representation but that cannot take precedent over canon lore and such
agreed
If you want something interesting
Omnics seemingly have self ascribed genders or so
The omnic in paris attack room seemingly identifies female
Zen is canonically a dude
And lynx 17 is gender neutral
You know what I find odd? Hanzo’s Ultimate. It’s been pretty obvious that nothing is supernatural in the Overwatch world, yet Hanzo’s ultimate seems like fucking magic. Can anyone explain?
it's not magic
Hell, the same could be said about Zenyatta’s Ultimate, and Genji’s
we just don't know what it is
zenyatta is advanced
also Zenyatta's ultimate may not be canon
But Genji summons a spirit dragon
but he doesnt use it
could be holograms/hard light
And I guess he infuses his Katana with the power of the dragon
Or else it wouldn’t be that strong
I mean
energy weapons exist in the Overwatch universe
It still doesn’t explain Hanzo’s or Zenyatta’s ult
if he cant kill a fucking regular monkey with 3 swings of his sword then it isnt that special
Hanzo's ultimate may be a hard light projection, or some kind of hologram
it passed through Hanzo after Genji deflected it, seemingly without causing harm
Zenyatta's ultimate hasn't been seen in the lore, so it may not be canon
It’s just that, well, every other ult has some logic or reasoning behind it
he could have collapsed from the shock of seeing someone else use a dragon
Then why even use it if it doesn’t cause harm?
there is logic or reasoning behind the spirit dragons
we just don't know what that logic/reasoning is yet
all we know is that it isn't magic
Okay then
because there is no magic in the Overwatch universe
everything has a scientific explanation (even if it doesn't make real-world sense)
@worthy rose to expand upon that, Genji isn't in overwatch anymore. After the shimada clan was destroyed, genji left overwatch
Hanzo's Dragon tattoos light up when he summons the dragons, so that might be it, they're some sort of energy-hologram projection of sorts
@somber bridge Genji telling Hanzo to choose a side implies that Genji has answered the Recall and joined up with new Overwatch
perhaps, perhaps not
it's implied, but that's as much as we're given
this is also POST Zenyatta Genji
so, Genji might have returned to Overwatch, he might not have
Speaking of which
Zen could use some Lore love
yes
only a shimada can summon the dragons though, i dont think its a hologram
Maybe it's some super high-tech, secretive technique that only the main Shimadas were given
Nanomachines mumbo-jumbo
if there actually is no magic in the universe, then my guess would be they made some sort of genetic enhancement to shimadas only, which transfers through birth and such. still has the cultural/spiritual effect its meant to have, and only a certain group of people can use them
Until we see BOTH of Genji's arms, we'll never find out whether Genji also has a dragon tattoo
we can see a little bit of genji's right arm in his young skins
no tattoo
but that's the closest we can get
it could be genetic modification
It would be hilarious if magic was a thing in that universe.
oh lord the uproar
It doesn't necessarily have to be on the arms.
Genji's left arm is more or less completely bared in his Blackwatch skin, and at least his right forearm is chopped off.
I'd go with the Shimadas having a genetic marker of some sort that is harmless but distinguishes them from the rest of people, so they bound the whatever it is to the marker.
Question, in the beginning of retribution, there's Reyes mocking Jessie for being fired of his cover. Anyone know the story?
OK, chief sit down, get snack
About that Genji tatoo, i'd say he doesn't because dragon tatoos are a traditional gang thing in japanese culture. Hanzo was a member of clan, Genji refused. So i'd say he doesnt have the tattoo.
So an overwatch place was attacked by Talon, who aren't under the same rules and guidelines overwatch was under, so they formed blackwatch to "Play by our own rules" Reaper then went after the big boys to tell talon essentially to FRICK off. They scouted the facility for exits, mapping and stuffs like that and McCree was a waiter
@foggy notch About getting fired from his cover
McCree was supposed to work for the restaurant at the end of the mission
He got fired because his Italian was awful.
But he says "the lady was rude"
So he got fired for not knowing how to speak?
Thats weird from an intelligence organization, not knowing who to pick for a cover job.....
I'll get that on the forum
Plus another question
Is there a reason for how there are so many built huge people like reinhardt in overwatch universe
Genji says why are u concerned about one kill mccree, its not the first time we've killed
Who is he referring to?
Does blizzard even understand their lore or are they just bullshitting it as it goes along?
I agree with the second idea @cerulean forge
Anyone wanna place bets on who the next character to be revealed as an LGBT is gonna be?
I'm thinking moira is M to F
It seems like something blizzard would do to appease their fanbase
they’d have to add a new hero for that
unless future mtf surgery is leagues above what we have today
They could bullshit something
Moira is a power lesbian ngl
Can BOB speak
I'm sure he can but just chooses not to
Kinda like a "yeah ashe does all the talking for me"
Gonna be honest though if winston and rein weren't characters I would have never got this game
according to the overwatch wiki
In light of their absence, Ashe grew to have a contentious childhood, getting into trouble at school, and spending her time shooting bottles on the family estate. A loner, Ashe spent a lot of time talking to B.O.B. (even if he was apparently incapable of talking back).
ah ok
guess he can’t
Bodyguard
I'm honestly pretty sure Roadhog contracted something that's withering his life away during all of the madness
that'd make a guy go crazy
lose your people lose your home lose your health
I didn't know that was actually a confirmed thing damn
Sure as hell did the last part 😂
What’s up with winston in the shorts destroying all of his counters
Reaper twice and Doomfist once
obviously
Probably because we lore goers find the lore intriguing
In game stuff doesnt always equal lore
Also doomfist isn’t necessarily countered by doom
@timber sundial we care cause the world is pretty and the characters seem pretty cool and the game is seemingly different from a lot of fps type shooters where the world be fucked and or is dark and gritty. I personally like the cool vibe of the world where everything is not fucked and there is hope for a better world and such
i care more about the game being balanced rather then the story that doesn’t affect the gameplay in any way
Course not. And some people are the inverse. I got into the game cause I thought the cinematics were dope and scrounging around for hidden lore things is cool to me
i have a lore question, why is athenea in the game yet? she was in route 66 but still isnt in overwatch as a character?
That is not Athena
That is a different character called Echo
Athena is the announcer voice in the game that does the count down from when you leave spawn
And Echo will be a character but not yet
At least not the next one anyway
srry i mix athenea and echo
They’re kinda busy rn tweaking and making heroes because they don’t wanna accidentally buff the goats scene that is in the professional esports scene. It’s why the recent additions to the game have been more bunker favored or so
Dynamite was meant to work as a soft counter with the addition of Ashe
Baptiste is mainly bunker favored hero
Havana has a lot of high ground abuse
That’s mainly my speculation
They’re kinda in a tricky spot
however looking at this from a gameplay perspective they could use athenea to destroy goats if they found a specific way to
*too
They’ve tried
and that doesnt stop them from trying again
they might have a detailed moveset laid out for her that happens to buff goats, and thus decided to wait
Ashe and baptiste were their attempts but they have to balance on a tight rope. If you make something so oppressively powerful you anger a majority of the player base. That’s how brig in her first gameplay iteration came to be
well 3rd times a charm 😃
Lore,characters
They wanna avoid having a character be a must pick while allowing flexibility to play whatever comp needed or so
Also yea I would love it if it was like a 5+ movie series
I think echo would be a support hero
so make a character that is really good but doesnt work at all in goats
But what's the backstory of echo
And won’t be a must pick 24/7 like brig was when she first came out
And won’t be extremely oppressive
making people want to play as her but sacrificing goats for that
i feel like she could do that
Honestly. I dont see a hero they could make that could destroy goats comp. literally sombra disables all abilities and that still doesnt work
Baptiste makes you and your team unable to die and that doesnt work
Ashe literally spawns a 7th member of the team and hurts people with armor and still that doesnt work
Torb literally melts tanks and that still doesn’t work
To make something that could destroy goats and not be extremely oppressive is an extremely hard wire to balance
And they don’t wanna add as much dps because of the sheer volume of the dps slot out grossing both tanks and supports combined
14 tanks and supports vs 16 dps
well blizzard has been working as a game dev team for 28 years and im sure they can find a way to do it
one more dps wouldnt hurt if they found a way to balance it out later on
Yea but that goes with the extremely oppressive thing. Back in the day it was mainly dive and really good tracers were extremely oppressive as a result they made brig and brig became a must pick in basically every game. It didn’t matter what you picked; brig was just that powerful. As a result majority of the player base just felt awful and hated playing against her. And then they founded the goats comp
Brig isn’t as oppressive as she once was
But the comp itself is still so good
well, make a counter to brig
You dont want a character so opressive that she becomes a must pick and you want to get rid of goats which is once again an extremely hard and honestly damn near impossible to create
what about somebody who maybe can shoot threw a shield
Brig is countered by long range projectile like pharah but pharah is countered by better positioning or hitscan
That would be opressive to reinhard and orisa and winston which would make her a must pick
Which blizzard wants to avoid
what we need a counter to is the AOE healing. i think that will be a large step to balancing out goats. we have Ana's biotic grenade, but i think something that lasts longer, but only causes a reduction to healing as opposed to full negation.
@flint briar that is very true
That was given to tracer because she is a very high skill ceiling window. Blizzard has a thing where they never wanna make a character unplayable 100% of the time. A nerf like that would make brig unplayable. Brig isn’t the main issue in goats anymore btw, it’s the natural synergy as well as the pro’s working so well together with said comp
Also cause sound barrier and trans are game saving ults as well as provide really good utility to the team
but that wouldnt make her unplayable
dropping Brig's HP to 150 would kinda crush her. she's not fast enough to maintain that
A 150 support that does less than 150 dmg per combo with a weak very fast to melt shield and who can only get value and healing by being in the front line and brawling?
Yes it would destroy her
But like I said brig isnt the issue
im taling about a new character
*talking
not brig
and you can make her faster so she is harder to hit
A new character with 150 health that can go through shields and zarya bubbles and maybe DM?
While raining enough damage to kill tanks and supports that is also super fast?
You’ve essentially made a better tracer
Which would be a must pick
And would absolutely be opressive
perhaps instead they could give a buff that lets a portion of their ally's damage ignore shields?
who said that she would do that much damage
like barriers, i mean
maybe instead she could disable shields for amounts of time
Like that would also be opress and a must pick. You wanna destroy goats but not the game itself. This is like having an issue and going an absolute extreme
Thats sombra
Who is also fast
And also doesnt do that much damage
But at 200 hp
So you want an emp essentially but a long cool down for it?
well, the idea i was going for is that while some damage goes through, competent healers could keep up with most of it while the team advanced. because of this a single target healer might be needed, but otherwise its not all that oppressive. in this way, they could at least try to shake up the goats lineup a bit, which is a start
I was thinking you meant say a bastion being allowed to shoot through sheilds
And was like “uhh no fam”
techinically, but remember: only a small portion of the damage actually goes through it. most of it is still blocked by the shield
well emp hacks multiple targets but this attack can only be used against one at a time
But you’d have to make it enough that it would still melt through a reinhardt or the enemy team would just run you over with a dva matrix
That sounds like a sombra hack that lasts longer and has a longer cool down
ah, dva matrix. good point
If that’s what you wanted then why not just buff sombra? Also the answer to that is, if you did that then she’d be oppressive af
well it wouldnt be the first time they reused attacks for different characters
but change it up a small bit
what worries me about that is a double hack team.
What happened to lore discussion
oh yea. woops
lucios healing circle and Baptiste's circle of healing
Like echo will be a hero and I do have faith that blizzard will change comps enough to allow other stuff to pop up but I do not think an individual hero will be the answer to that
well you never know 😃
Lucio’s passive at a much bigger aoe thattan be swapped for speed and baptiste is a cool down that does that one thing so while I see what you mean, it isn’t an exactly a 1:1 comparison
But yea don’t worry too much
They’ll figure it out
Echo will be a hero
Same with soujourn
and it could be the same kinda thing with sombras hack and echos attack
