Hero doesn't progress the story or give Soldier any character development

it just shows him being the hero that we already know he is

Honor and Glory is the best example of character development - Reinhardt doesn't change until he's faced with his mentor's imminent death, and even after he's injured Reinhardt still thinks they can fight their way out

Balderich gives him the needed wakeup call and it takes time to happen

Shooting Star had a lot of problems in its story, with a moral that didn't work, inconsistent power levels, and failed to make D.Va relevant. The best part was the news broadcast at the start because it introduced the other MEKA pilots

Hero was not a Soldier 76 short. It was an Alejandra short. The Los Muertos are cool looking, that's the nicest thing I have to say about that.

I showed the sprays with his younger selves because it allows one to think this may have been a recent injury and if the events of Cuerva's logs are from "last year" (so present day minus 1 year) then they sent Cuerva's team after him in August and found the log in February so 6 months later. One is allowed to assume they sent Cuerva's squad (Baptiste's old squad) after him quite recently after he deserted. That's what I would do, send the people he's the closest to after him to try and reason with him first, then send the assassins if that fails
