they did all the things that Overwatch wasn't legally allowed to do
Black Ops are usually operations so under the radar and involving activities so damnable they're swept under and never spoken about
Reyes killed someone and got Overwatch in trouble, right?
Fixed
Ok, but if they were going against Talon, why did they join?
@stray hamlet Shitposting is a post that is shit. If it does not pertain to serious discussion strictly related to Overwatch, it will be subject to removal.
but Moira is primarily interested in advancing her research
without anything holding her back
McCree and Genji didn’t join, right?
no
once Overwatch fell, Genji began wandering the world in search of meaning
and McCree became an outlaw and a bounty hunter
We're led to believe Reyes and Jack were already having heated debates about how they should use their influence and manpower, this is best seen in Retribution where Reyes disobeys the order to retrieve the boss-man alive and just does it his way
they were on good terms up until Retribution
Probably during the time Talon was already grooming Moira into joining, and also whispering to Reyes
Yeah I played that, but not the other two
but Morrison kept covering for him, letting him off when he got out of line
their falling out happened mostly after Retribution, when Jack lost his trust in Gabe bacause Gabe hired Moira behind Jack's back
@unkempt trail I suspect that Moira was already working with Talon at the time of Retribution
Can I find the comics online or only in a hard copy
Absolutely, given how everyone except Reyes was stink-eyeing her
@wicked robin they're in the pins
Did they really not include a comic this time?
Ok thx
Actually, how many comics are there?
there was no comic this time around
there are 16 comics
the order is Retribution -> Uprising -> Storm Rising
Could someone clear something up? It's been a while since I've read up on anything lore-related so I'm a bit confused.
Do the events in Storm Rising happen after or before Retribution?
So what is Retribution?
Don’t tel me about Storm Rising, idk anything about it
8 years ago – Retribution
7 years ago – Uprising
6 years ago – Rising Storm, Overwatch HQ explosion
5 years ago – Overwatch disbanded
Retribution is a Blackwatch mission in Rialto, originally to bring in a guy
I see, thanks!
Reyes flew off the handle
So the part you play is Blackwatch's team trying to get to their extracion point
Oh.
An OW strike team is ssent out to deal with omnics in Null Sector
A group of, uh...are they omnic supremacists or just rebels?
can't remember
So is it safe to assume that Storm Rising is the last major operation for Overwatch? Since the banter with the characters during the mission seems to suggest that Overwatch is getting "redirected" / shuttered.
Oh dang
Might be
Ok thx y’all
but there's room for more
Do you know where I could find the overwatch comics
I mean, they are rising up against omnic persecution, but they're also wiping all out humans in the area under their control
taking out Doomfist happens after this
and is probably the last major mission for Overwatch
... what
Witness the return of one of Talon’s leaders: Doomfist. Learn more about Doomfist: http://blizz.ly/Doomfist Read the PTR patch notes: http://blizz.ly/2rWwEV2...
why would you think that
Oh you're right
oof
the implication of that scene is that he bought his freedom by telling them where to find Doomfist
oh
because Overwatch wanted to capture him
it wasnt very clear
is it me or they seem to be making mercy a badass?
and the new omic looks like a talon tank
He's not Talon
he probably will
he is not talon, yet
Thought Jeff meant currently
Getting freedoms by ratting higher is not abnormal in criminal stuff
new profile pic for sure
The money guy in more than a few times in reality has gotten off light in exchange for singing like a canary
found an interaction that's interesting
Winston: What do you think will happen if we can't get Max?
Tracer: They've been threatening to reassign the entire operation.
Mercy: Morrison and Reyes have been arguing about it quite a bit lately.
Winston: What about the strike team?
Tracer: It might be the end of the line for us too.
Genji: ...
Genji doesn't talk much
mada mada
but at this point he's not in a good place, mentally
he s got big hands
it is from the first playthrough
@worthy rose it's a Null Sector omnic
Symbol on the hood
and yeah, @teal meadow, Mercy was pretty badass there
hmm
have we seen that before?
I hate to be the one to even talk about it, but I'd be a bit disappointed if the long-demanded black woman hero was just American. Her voice sounds American. Kinda military?
it's hard to tell from just the accent
That's if she ends up being a hero, don't know if that was suggested by Jeff
she might be a hero, but she won't be the next hero
Jeff said she was one of the earlier hero designs, from 2014-2015 when they were doing their big list of potential hero concepts
correction on Sojourn's actress
Totally misspoke previously, apologies! Sojourn's voice is played by @CheriseBoothe! She absolutely brought the character we've been thinking about for so long to life! https://t.co/Ka75sYzO7P
Who did he say first
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuUAtvmPh8M Overwatch Storm Rising Cinematics
Both cinematics / cutscenes from the Overwatch Storm Rising PVE story mode! Overwatch: Storm Rising is a new story mission that is part of the Overwatch: Arc...
1440p is nice
i've had to watch that cinematic like 10 times
because my friend kept wanting to do the mission because theres an achiv for doing it on all heroes
so 4 times for that and another couple of times because of server dcs
4 people need to skip
but the lore experience
It's the best part. Unfortunately
yeah I was gonna say the cinematic is the best part of storm rising lmao
Close your eyes after the second time, duh
he is purple
the eyes are red though
which matches up with the Null Sector aesthethic
Wait, were all the Null Sector purple with red eyes?
Am I the idiot?
I think I am.
mercy flying super confirmed now too
Theyre really pushing the mercy genji ship with the interactions
Mercy X Genji 😒
guess i mark valkryie as canon now?
And I bet the new omnic is Anubis
pls
"Theyre really pushing the mercy genji ship with the interactions"
ok so?
"And I bet the new omnic is Anubis"
no
valkyrie added to canon abilities list
how about "it's a new character that we have yet to learn more about"
Theyre near the temple and he looks like a very powerful omnic figure
feel free to ping with objections as always
it appears to be some kind of Null Sector leader
Also given the relationship between Talon and Helix, it seems easy enough to get the Anubis AI out of its tomb
Anubis is still contained as of present day
Welp
Pharah's comic happened way after this event
Yeeeah just realised
Oops
I wouldnt be surprised if Talon was behind the escape in Pharahs comic
the more likely scenario is that the two want to use Anubis for something
as indicated by Old Soldiers
i like that idea yeah
if they tease a relationship slowly over time between Mercy and Genji, people cry "stop forcing it on us!"
if they don't build it up and instead just reveal it all at once, people cry "this is too forced!"
there is no way to win here
if the writers want to develop a romance naturally over time, why can't they?
it's better than saying "oh by they way they're dating"
I dont mind it I was just surprised that they pushed it so much
Developed it probably is a better term
There is a lot of voice lines throughout the map
... is there
it has been hinted at since Reflections
I feel like people just hate Genji for some bizarre reason, and then base everything on that
it can hardly be called forced if they've been developing it for 3 years
Im not against it in anyway, not that I ship it either, Im just neutral and thought it was interesting
no, you don't get it, there are fan ships based off ~gameplay synergy~
and that should dictate the story apparently
the biggest hint, imo, is that he calls her Angela, when he doesn't call anyone else (aside from Hanzo, his brother) by first name
in Japanese culture, using someone's first name is a sign of closeness
yes
He calls winston winston
but Genji and McCree are friends
What's Winston's last name?
he doesn't call him Jesse
Exactly.
Im just ahppy we have new things to speculate on
To actually keep the lore side of the community alive for a while
you found Max's romance novel
-My lady, please- said Olivia firmly-. The duke...
-He's not here. But you are. And hadn't you come to give me back my ring?- the hand of Olivia grazed hers, and it was warm, so warm.
Source: I am Spanish.
It's a fragment of Shakesperae's Twelfth Night. ```
Hello
I've said this already, but I wish they updated Uprising with those sleek loading and hero selection screens
I can't understand why they haven't done that
Olivia
So what happens after storm rising is on the doomfist short film?
It doesn't have to be confirmed
Storm rising takes place presumably days to months before Doomfist being taken to jail
It happens in the same year as Overwatch shutting down
im late to this convo but
gency is 100% being built up
genji yells out "ANGELA!" when friendly angela gets killed in game
mercy and genji wrote letters to each other over christmas
they have a voice line where they buy each other chocolates over valentine's day
their general chemistry
they could not make it more obvious that gency is gonna happen
what
Gency deconfirmed?
I think there's a voiceline for Mercy when she witnesses a friendly Genji's death
https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/overwatch_gamepedia/d/db/Genji..._I_was_too_late.mp3
Yup
you literally cannot deny that gency will become canon eventually
this is the biggest ship tease possible
I think its more Genji owes a great debt to Mercy for helping him
Prob a shiptease but thats prob more the case
Nah, theres a lot more lines
Like how Genji likes having conversations with Mercy
Which is mostly just him listening to her medical reports
Isn't Gency the biggest & most teased ship in Overwatch that actually has facts in the game itself to back it up?
Yes.
Thought so
Lmao
And Number 2/3 are both not gonna happen.
Why not Rein & Ana?
Ana was married until she "died"
I mean, it might just be me being stupid, but the way they talk to each other that, like, single time in Uprising...
With the event in general or Storm Rising?
Storm Rising
Yup.
It's just... bad. The only two redeeming factors about it is the stuff it does for the lore & how good it is for grinders.
Also, is it hinting at a new hero?
A lot of people think so, but I personally don't.
But, no matter if it's a new hero or not, it's still someone important to the lore.
Yes.
Honestly, I am even dissapointed gameplay-wise
AND lore wise
In all honesty, what did we really get
We got a rushed pile of reused elements from previous Archives events with a single event at the end that hyped the OW community up again.
single event being the person with Doom reveal)
Maybe
Why
This was the archives based on the Doom Origin cinematic
Storm Rising is a prequel to it
I think the event would’ve have been better if it wasn’t the only thing we get lore wise for the entire year.
The fans wait all year for this event for new lore. Especially now that the comics are not being updated and Bastet being a new media that they might never use again 😕
Yup
The story isnt the problem with the event
Its just the gameplay
Even if we had more comics, people would be letdown by the playable portion
Yeah, exactly. The story wasn't the problem, I've talked to most of my friends (that are intrigued with Overwatch's lore) and they said they were completely satisfied with Storm Rising... for the lore. The gameplay was terrible.
That's why I feel like if you were hyped about Storm Rising for the lore, you wouldn't be sorely disappointed, but if you were hyped about Storm Rising for the gameplay then you would be.
Exactly. The map was so good. But that whole aspect was ruined by the fact that you were constricted to the space of the payload.
The bridge to the sea fort is beautiful
If Storm Rising didn't have the payload and you were relatively free to go around the great map, then, I dunno, more people would have been satisfied. But that would've required Blizzard to change the entirety of the mission, so...
So is it going to be a hybrid or an escord?
I did feel the payload part was a drag because me and people I played with wanted to more forward quickly but forced to come back to escort it
escort*
Is what going to be a hybrid or an escort?
the map
idk how hybrid would work on a map like this
Your first point would be the brewery entrance, then the second would be the end of the brewery and the last is where we see the payload actually ends in game
personally second point is gonna be the hardest to take
yea
That place is damn huge
its very open and a lot of highground
It's so anti goats friendly
kind of like blizzard world, i suppose
Naw
the second point is very open
Third point is so close quarters
Personally I'm a bit bummed by this event
Especially since the dry spell we've had lately
Yeah I’m already going back to retribution
@dapper shuttle That voice line isn't new. It's actually been out for a while. Like, one or two years.
which one
The 'Genji! I was too late' line.
Oh I know
I just shared it because we were discussing gency and it's a pretty solid argument
have there been any translations of the text conversation on the computer in the distillery?
Its Shakespeare
-My lady, please- said Olivia firmly-. The duke...
-He's not here. But you are. And hadn't you come to give me back my ring?- the hand of Olivia grazed hers, and it was warm, so warm.```
From Twlfth Night
that's disappointing
it annoyed me that the entire setup of storm rising seems to ||hint ar some sort of twist, betrayal or trap at the end but... there's nothing? we just casually walk up to Maximilian and that's it?||
TrUsT nO oNe
can we talk spoilers in here?
||not to mention the damn cliffhanger scene, i was hoping we'd get a proper boss or second half after that||
we already have to wait a damn year for echo if not more and i feel like unless || the spooky omnic is a july release, its the same shit a second time||
Also, is it just me or does mercy sound a bit off?
she sounds like she's 15 years older
To learn more, please visit https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/mercy#story
she's 31 years old in Storm Rising
Also, add me to the list of people disappointed by this event. The only thing I really likes was cut scene at the very end.
And I know this might be a minor detail, but I really did not like hearing Mercy flirt with Genji and ask him to dinner. It sort of rubbed me the wrong way, as she is a physician and Genji is most likely a patient under her continual care. That type of behavior is generally frowned upon, even if it was meant to be flirty and friendly banter.
As someone who works in the medical field, just like Angela does, I think she should be well aware of the boundaries set between her and her patients, and try not to cross them.
My problem is not so much that there's voice lines between the two of them (as that's inevitable), even though I don't care for or like the Genji/Mercy ship. It's just that line rubbed me the wrong way, due to the nature of my work (in the field of nursing), and the fact that I'm well aware of how I should conduct myself among my patients, just like Angela should be.
And until we get official confirmation that Genji has been discharged and is no longer under Angela's care, lines like that are pretty unprofessional, and wholly unnecessary as well.
(And if you need to know why: It's because we're taught not to make any romantic advances towards and date anyone under our care, mainly because it could be harmful for all parties involved. Breaching this rule could lead to some pretty severe consequences, including termination, and suspension and revocation of our professional licenses.)
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but that line really just rubbed me the wrong way.
they're part of the same strike team
so it's a bit different from the usual doctor-patient relationship
I really wish blizzard would stop leaving us on cliffhangers for years on end. Its like they start an amazing story, get a third of the way through it, and just.... Give up
For instance, Echo, the mcree comic came out How long ago now, we never knew what was in the box, fast forward 2 years and we finally find out only to get hit with yet another cliffhanger
now we get the guy at the end of the trailer
and i'm willing to bet it'll be a while before we find out anything about him either
prob talon tank
eh, still though, lore is a huge portion of the game with how much potential it could have, and its frustrating for getting it so incredibly slowly. Heck we still know nothing about zen
maybe during OWL league?
and he's been in the base game since launch
ugh yeah
heck, even him picking up genji would be nice
the whole interactions and such
Why would they say stuff during OWL
No
That was a preannounced trailer for Retribution
At the start of OWL
Echo is not part of the list of abandonned cliffhangers
I did think they were ramming gency in too much. There’s at least 2 voice interactions of them flirting. I wasn’t bothered until I got a third one and thought it was too much imo.
I want to learn more about talon, sojourn and the conflict in OW. I might have missed them but I understand people being off out by it
@burnt flower not in the medical field but i agree otherwise, i've never liked it for those reasons
mercy practically brought him back from the dead
its just entirely unprofessional
I think it's cute
they don't like it, so it's rammed
i know about reflections and the not-implemented chocolates lines, but both of those looked like they could easily just be on a friendly basis
I don’t hate gency, but every voice interaction I had for one match was them flirting
The whole “Chase the Truth!” tagline is filled with nonsense.
We learned jack in this event.
there's no secret cutscene for beating legendary?
Other than like, his dirty financial records
So.
I’m pretty mad right now.
the only thing that would redeem the weird plot would be if this were the kickoff for frequent lore updates in the form of comics or whatever
Anyone got an idea as to whom Cayde-6's edgy brother is?
Null Sector porbaly
a Null Sector leader
So Null Sector and Talon are co-operating?
seems like it
Question is, what's in it for them?
my guess
the new omnic hero will have an short or origin story
following up the events
Doomfist did mention nullsector in a comic. He didn’t expect Overwatch to intervene so I assume that’s uprising
And the Captain whatever-her-name-was-again?
Where is the proof that he works with null sector
Yea cause Overwatch was ordered not to by the British PM at the time to not step into the uprising
We have no clue who that character is.
Wait so when did the Zürich incident happen?
And he mentioned uprising cause Widowmaker killed Mandatta and there hasn't been an incident that caused this much discourse Since Uprising
In kings row
I’m not sure when the explosion but it’s within a year max of storm rising
Stuff's just got interesting.
I'm basically going to have a field day once good video footage of the event is discovered since I'm bad at FPS's.
And we still don't know jack shit about the eye.
And how it's supposedly the center of everything.
Oh yeah the creepy symbol that noticed sombra
We can't discuss fanfiction since it isn't canon.
I know.
I thought about writing a fanfic but I keep changing ideas
So we have a look at an omnium in the middle poster
Ping if you wanna explore the map with me !!
your only evidence that he's a leader of null sector is the fact that his chin thing is purple
that isn't enough evidence
that's like saying every person with a hijab is a terrorist
ah
doomfist 2 is dead
Yes
I genuinely don't think it's null sector
cause if it was they'd give us more evidence of this
like idk
the big insignia null sector uses as it's symbol
unless we get more pieces, this didnt answer much
or reveal much
like, mahaps we'll get a tie-in comic taking place directly after?
And my other argument against the null sector argument, why on earth would he wanna work with Doomfist cause Null Sector seems very anti-human
if he was a leader of this
DF: I want conflict
Supposed Null Sector dude: I want equality for my people
These two would coincide for a short time but in the long scheme of things, pretty damn bad idea considering Doomfist wants a natural selection thing to happen which can't happen if the humans are dead
also, time doesnt pass right? its been the same year in-game all this time, right
What do you mean
like, the fall was "5 years ago" was it 4 years ago in 2018?
Overwatch came out in 2016
so no
They're talking 6 years ago in the time line since modern day in the Overwatch universe which is when Winston hits Recall
is the game always set in year 20XX
Like, there wont be a birthday, or 2nd christma, etc
The story hasn't progressed enough to enable a new year or anything besides the new years comic
k
We've literally made very little progress post Recall
most of the stuff we have is old stuff about the old days
so, lets say, for Arguement's sake, the game is set in 2067
76
I just seen the trailer for Archives this year, and from the convoy, i'm expecting alot of movement, trap setting, and strategy being used on a story standpoint.
has it progressed to 68 yet
2076 is the commonly accepted date
@normal crag Taking from commonly accepted date, the current time is 2077, as we are now in the second year of Overwatch's present day.
And it's been assumed the Recall happened before October 2076.
Considering the composition of the strike team, I'm expecting Genji and Winston to be using their brains to arrest Max, like setting traps to disable the vehicle he's riding in.
Not yet.
it's very lack luster when compared to the other archives events
and they didn't do that at all
I was personally disappointed
Same tbh
Set ups are always bad.
But still fun
Including the circumstances behind the Doomfist arrest.
its better than Uprising but it still lacks more than Retribution
- Who soujourn is and what she looks like
- Some mysterious omnic man we don't know
Those are the only things about Storm Rising that I got anything out of
cause I got no other questions or answers from the lore
Who's behind making the story for Storm Rising?
I'm not going to blame him, this happens with writers. Especially when it comes to things like this, a story always has a high point and a low point.
This, perhaps, is the low point until something worse happens.
I just felt like the mode was very short compared to past events
It felt very short by comparison
I'm just disappointed mainly cause this was hyped to be amazing
And they definitely nerfed the enforcers
Kaplin lied to us.
which the game needed cause we had a long af dry spell when it came to lore
Yeah, pretty much.
We had a dry spell for events too
and this basically leaves us like an inch along instead of like a couple meters or something
I figured they were putting their resources into making archives epic
They basically lied to us with hyping up this event and mode.
Yup
I completed it in 10 min, including cut scenes
I did in like 8
Given that was just hard diff but still
Half an hour on Legendary.
Thy hyped so many different possible new features with the event but didn't give us any (motorcycle, a hurricane, chase scenes where you chasing cars)
That sounds a bit better time wise
Like when compared to a massive event like Retribution
this event stinks by comparison
Retribution opened and answered so many questions
this one just gave us
Personally, as I have made a story too. He is able to help create and expand a multi perspective story with numerous subplots.
Soujourn and other omnic guy
Nothing?
This is Chu's lowest point as the lead writer for Overwatch.
there was a lot of new info in a way
and I'm like "this ain't enough for a damn year of dryspell"
I don't see why there was a hurricane if it didn't do anything lore or gameplay wise
Chu didn't really do anything bad
Michael Chu sucks
What info did u see cause I didn't see anything
This event had given us more loose ends, along with nothing else.
The point is Michael Chu didn't really do anything
The stuff about Rumbotico from the entry was interesting
I didn’t care for the face reveal of that Omnic Doomfist was talking to.
The problem is that there wasn't much new in the event itself
They keep adding loose ends that aren't finish until years later
Honestly
The only events in the past they could possibly do that would in anyway make for a satisfying archives
Honestly theres no saving the game
Is the original strike force day missions or the fall of the Swiss HQ
After that everything in the past is just irrelevant
Add the last few heroes and maps, tie the loose ends then cancel development on the game, its a waste of time and resources to even try to fix overwatch
Overwatch is great, just they've made a lot of decisions that I don't agree with. The esport scene and pumping a crap ton of resources into making it into a success was pretty good; The lack of story and development for the game and events
I feel like whatever Dooms ties to that omnic are could probably be summed up in an origins story trailer if he becomes a future hero
And the playerbase doesn't get satisfaction of playing the game
Get rid of one of the other events besides Archives and junkenstein and then add a new archives/new modern missions and I think I'll be happy with the game again
cause for the life of me I think ctf for lunar new years was terrible
Lucio ball ppl are sick of
I agree full hearted on what you said, Kaeore.
True they need to scrap and rebuild events
And mei snowball after u played it like twice ur done with forever
The important events for me are Archives (lore) and ANniversary (Arcade update)
Halloween, Christmas, and Archives are the only events I like tbh
Is Storm Rising Overwatch lore's lowest point?
I agree.
Brigitte release was the lowest point imo.
One thing for sure though: The team development speed and scale is shrinking, I wonder why..
I also am waiting for Storm rising comic, which is yet to be released.
Storm rising itself as an event, the cutscreens sure were damn well made. Just that the gameplay was short and bit lackluster
Uprising amd Retribution were so good and I had such high hope for Storm Rising especially with all the possible mew features they teased but it fucking sucks
and if we do it better revolve around the conversation doomfist was having with that omnic
cause god knows theres' nothing worth looking at in the pre story of storm rising
The cutscenes were great in Storm Rising, the rest sucked tho
Blizzard
Blizzard fucked this up, the only real time new Overwatch's lore is known to the common player who just wants to play Overwatch.
just make Overwatch into a multie movie series or a well made netflix tv animated series or put some more effort into the most important event of the year
I feel like they could've done good with the lore in this event if they didn't leave so many loose ends
@worthy rose the lights on the Rising Storm omnic actually match the shape of some of the markings on Null Sector Bastions and OR-14s
Blizzard needs to grab a Boyscout manual and learn how to tie loose ends Lmfao
they're really not
I'm no professional, but I try and tie up most loose ends, especially if they are important to a story.
I do think the Talon omnic was part of uprising and is seeking revenge
nothing about the way their lights are patterned looks close to the guy
and like I said before
It's a big stretch to say just cause he has a purple chin he's null sector
it's not tho
Idk we've only seen his face
I'm worried Blizzard decided that Max wasn't "cool" enough and is NPCing him for this new Omnic.
He could have a smaller hitbox than tracer for all we know
I'm angry at what I was just told about the event itself. I really need a break.
if we saw a character wearing an armor with Overwatch's exact shade of blue, we'd assume that it's an Overwatch agent
Nah I think Max just isn't a fighter or would be interesting in game
Plus Max doesn't get his hands dirty
no
if we saw someone wearing the overwatch outfit which fits the overwatch insignia on it
we'd assume they were an overwatch agent
Null sector has an insignia
if they wanted us to know it was null sector civilian type omnic, they'd find a way to creatively put it on there than to hope people notice the shade of purple the chin was
I'm not on PC right now, so I can't show you how his lights match Null Sector markings
I'll take this up tomorrow
This is Storm Rising
O yea
Storm Rising takes place one year after Retribution
I'm dumb
two years
Uprising happens one year after retribution
Biggest disappointment: 0 interactions
It happens in the same year. Assumingly only months apart
Genji says like what 2 things
I feel like that's a lazy exvuse
probably is but it's a valid excuse
Genji and Mercy talk a lot
8 years ago – Retribution
7 years ago – Uprising
6 years ago – Storm Rising, Overwatch HQ explosion
5 years ago – Overwatch disbanded
during storm
if mercy rezes genji few times, genji thanks, mercy says he is lucky that she likes him, he should take her out for dinner and genji agrees
for it
Thats after 3-4 rezes
Ah, hidden interactions
Also few lines there and there
it's cute
Time to tell my bf to die a few times to get that interaction :^)
they pay him new shurikems
I thought they paid him with a new body so he could walk
and give him living quarters and food
They give him a place to live, a purpose and helped him heal and be oh idk, alive
Pretty sure he asks for bothing but mission gear
why not
I would assume yes, just because I don't see it being legal to not do that
i assume he'd need like some form of money
amm
I mean
I guess?
I say questionable
they still employed him and all
I say reasonable
cause Genji's entire interaction with overwatch is like weird grey area
he gets picked up after a fight to the death with his brother
they give him a new body and make him work undercover in the black ops
he gets exposed
goes to normal overwatch in a new suit/body
Should I take a break from talking Storm Rising?
I say play it and let us know if you find anything worth while
cause god knows I didn't besides Soujourn and new omnic guy
and they give him a place to live so like genuinely wonder if they pay him actual money and if so like
where does he keep his wallet
Like Tracer making money makes sense
So does Winston
But Genji is a big head scratcher for me
Blizzard failed to deliver on the story aspects of Storm Rising, the setpieces had a lot of potential for it to be good.
Blizzard just failed to deliver.
A year of waiting for basically close to nothing
This is a failure that needs definite fixing.
Bruh
What?
It doesn't do much for the story
And not very much in terms of relationships
or dynamics
or really anything
it just shows us two new characters that we're like "oooooh"
the game play of it is pretty meh
and the map was nice but a nice map isn't enough to win ppl over
ill check it out later and share my thoughts
btw in the trailer i saw tracer riding a motorbike
is that a thing?
cutscene
The lore is fine
The gamemode is just kinda short
And feels like Retribution 2.
Especially with Genji. He's the special killer in both modes
McCree could deal with assassins himself, but Genji did it just as well.
apparently there are more lines in expert but I haven't seen that for myself
Its not that there are more in expert
Its that there are more lines that get added the more its completed
whos Soujourn?
who doesn't at all look like the black lady from the Ana group picture but apparently is
Seriously?
oh ok
That was an older picture though so it makes sense she looks different now
That's 14 years later
Yea but you can still recognize basically everyone except for Ana who's had the most drastic change in appearence
Is there an actual timeline that anyone has compiled throughout the last couple of lore that’s been released throughout the events and whatnot
Official? No
Fan made? What part do you want to know
Because we know what order some events happened in relation to others
This is Chu literally giving us a timeline
But nothing specific
idk how much more official u want
Sojourn still has a big-ish nose in both pics
if you want a date of specifics, that's a separate matter entirely
When I say official I mean the most logical timeline of stuff, doesn’t need to be from OW HQ themselves
no he's a new guy probably
Again
I'd ask @peak escarp
A new omnic that will likely be a DPS by the looks of it
anybody else notice that its been almost a year since the last comic
it's been over a year since the last comic
Retribution started on the second tuesday of April last year
This one starts on the third
but the comic wasnt released at the same time
But I guess the events make up for that
so even earlier than the event
so my point still stands
Over a year since we got a comic
and the cutscene at the end was dissapointing
SAME
And suddenly its over
That was so abrupt
so we have another year of waiting to see who this omnic dude is
and what happened to max
well we know that he escaped thats for sure
probably questioned
then he got released due to friends in high places
or paid whatever fine Overwatch stuck him with
and then some time later the doomfist mission starts
btw why didnt doomfist have the gauntlet
in the end?
yea
cause shit is heavy and he's trying to be inconspicuous?
and he's currently "clean" so wearing the powerful weapon of a known criminal in broad daylight
probably a bad fucking move
I think that's just the way the animation turned out
I'm a bit confused by the fact that she's the one questioning Maxi when Tracer is the leader of this mission
but thats a minor thing I guess
It is now.
hey binge is here
lol funni mayme
@valid shell whats ur thoughts on this
On what?
storm rising
On this disappointing event that reeks of Blizzard staff being pulled off Overwatch?
I expect it
Of course I am.
Fans wait a year for a new event after every other event sucked ass
I enjoy this video game and I hate seeing it treated like this.
It's like expecting an amazing cake
and being given a muffin
the only thing about this event i actually really really really like
is the hammond meme highlight intro
whats that
It's the Hammond highlight intro.
2019 04 17 02 38 37 13 DVRTR hammond dramatic
No.
And, quite frankly, why should I?
It won’t be resolved.
It will be another loose end that will lead to nowhere.
Or explained away by Chu over twitter as a "misconception".
Between tweets about characters favorite food/drink and retweets of Gency fanart.
Because that's all Chu seems to do.
Yeah, he’s pretty fucking useless.
Yall are doomsaying it worse than it is.
The event sucks
Im not gonna disagree
But its not gonna get misconceptioned away
The mission was not balanced with the new team comp.
Especially on higher difficulties.
Echo still has a couple more chances to become relevant before Blizzcon. Hero 31's story, Gamescom short, and the map from the same event.
After that, itll have been a year with nothing
whens blizzcon
November
Bet you a hundred bucks they are going to continue drip feeding lore, as usual.
how much do you wanna bet when the new omnic hero comes out
a comic following up storm rising comes out
Highly unlikely
I do think we will get comics this year
I think Echo will be the "omnic hero"
We probably will
I don't think it'll be anytime soon
I'm losing faith in blizzard's ability to give out lore that is meaningful
Echo doesnt seem to be like an omnic
@worthy rose https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlvAXKYD61A
I know what u mean but idk what else to call her
I put her on the same level of sentience as Orisa
Cause we waited a damn year after a literal year of every event staying the same and the biggest event of the year for this game is a disappointment
Sentience or sapience?
idk dude
Sentience is just being able to perceive and feel, to sense.
Sapience is human-level of thought, feeling, reasoning, etc.
Sapience then
I really don't see the idea of you guys being angry at blizzard letting people down with this event, at least feel grateful we got this event than nothing. Also keep in mind that Activision owns blizzard.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/412012217?t=00h52m49s Jeff Kaplan confirming that some of the ex Overwatch agents we've seen in Recall will become future heroes
i hope this has not been posted yet
Cause people have been invested in this game?
Cause people fell in love and enjoyed the world that blizzard designed and after a year of literal nothing from the other events and we were promised more lore, more comics, and a bunch of other stuff from the overwatch team, and thus far, on the biggest event of Overwatch, we got basically jack. They could have given us nothing this event and I'd know just about as much about the lore that I do now
This event was more of a glorified map reveal than an actual event
i kindof agree with the whole discussion about "this event isnt good"
sure we got some new lore
but the mission was just
so fucking recycled
Who was that Omnica t the end of the cutscene?
no one knows
No one knows yet brainsapper
Yeah i was disappointed with this update. Didn't have the same degree of polish/effort put into it like past ones.
i mean
i liek archives cuz i can finally get my blackwatch moira skin
since its my first archives
They left too many loose ends
as a person going into archives for the first time all i have to say is that i enjoyed uprising and retribution
ur asking why ppl are disappointed when they gave us something after a year of nothing when this event was basically nothing. There's nothing of major importance that was shown light on that we couldn't have lived without.
ALOT more than storm rising
Like genuinely
Besides Soujourn and mystery omnic at the end
i do
Sojourn
What did we learn from this event that was at all worth while
All the event updates during the first year were fantastic.
xd
that was important
Retribution was a hitter
It was just the other events didn't get any upgrade or change
retri is cool af
at all
i love blackwatch
Honestly I'd be happy if they lessened the amount of events from 6 to 4 and make those 4 longer and put more effort into them
Probably take him to interrogation
that must've lead into the anime
Like Archives/Anniversary/Summer Games or Halloween/Winter Wonderland
thats exactly the chain of events
Winter Wonderland, Summer games, and Lunar new years is shit
Probably stuck him with a crap ton of fines and charges that he paid/weasled out of
My main problem are the thing they teased us and new fun features for the event they never added to the gameplay
I wans't impressed and had no notion that we were actually gonna ride a motorcycle
I thought the motorcycle meant we were going to have in game chase scenes where we have to stop max's car
And I thought the hurricane meant it'd be a time limit or it'd occaisonally sweep us into the air
I think the term is a smoking gun
I don't normally have any expectations for overwatch except archives but rip
but mostly because of the thematic and lore lack
and lack of dialogue
like holy shit
its so silent
Playing on legendary
This feels as long as the others
But only because this team can't deal with heavies
Doomfist was beaten by Winston and captured in Singapore by the way, Singapore might be a future map
On lower difficulties it feels short
But on legendary it feels long Judy because of how long it takes to kill some enemies
Assassin fights take a while too
While in Retribution you could ignore them
I wasnt really expecting a new enemy type because I cant really think of a new type that would pose as another fresh new challenge
all the enemy types kinda just cover every niche
I was just expecting it to be more of a special gauntlet but there wasnt actually that many specials
before the teaser i was expecting a new variant of talon soldiers
Well they added a Talon Medic. They could have a made a healer unit for Havana
apparently not
why a new variant
its talon
its only 2 yrs
why would they change variant altogether
A new variant
Not changed
Like a healer
Or a shield
For you to dive behind
They didn't take advantage of the dive comps at all
Cause different type of enemies for different whatever. Idk a new heavy/assassin equaivalent that crawls out of the fucking ocean as their underwater branch or something
Literally anything
I think healer would actually be incredibly tedious for the dive comp
So were assassins
