Most likely
I mean
based on the fact that Sombra had to hack into Talon databases to find out about him
I imagine he joined and left a while after Sombra first joined
Tho it might be a stretch on my part since that's me assuming talon members know other talon members of extreme value and skill
That does make sense, or perhaps she was trying to locate where he currently is?
She could have either been tracking him for talon or to find more abour the talon organization since he probably knew some stuff others didn't
@swift loom Called it at the last teaser, next Archives will be Doomfist, Sombra, Widowmaker, and Baptiste, back when DF was just an operative and Baptiste was still Talon.
Maybe she's looking for another pawn?
Like the same way she's manipulating soldier and presumably McCree and Reaper and everyone basically for her own agenda
Can be true
wew new hero
Can not qait until i come to the game
New hero

@worthy rose Stop.
@valid shell ok
YOOOOOO BAPTISTE HYPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Correct!
I love him so much
I wasn’t expecting to love him this much
But I’ve known him 5 minutes and would die for him
what interactions do you think he'll have with the talon team?
I’m presuming bitter resentment dripping towards each of them.
Maybe pity to Widowmaker?
For Moira he would see her as illogical and inhumane, something special with sombra since she hacked his files, and I agree with CatKoi about the pity to widowmaker
Is talon good guys?
No
No
No p e
hmmm.. that does sound plausible. maybe he'll have a rivalry with moira since he's a healer too
Something about this doesn't make sense
Tbh I think he'd have pity toward reaper and widowmaker due to what they have become due to Moira
When do we think he'll be on PTR?
Because Gerard was killed because overwatch didn't want a bad guy in their group so they killed him
Thats not what happened at all
As I heard
Not even remotely close
So I don't understand, is Baptiste a sniper or not? In the video, his gun seems to be like a grenade launcher-type of thing
@fringe blade There was never any suggestion that he was a sniper
To learn more, please visit https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/#story
I mean, yay. Another African (?) hero in the roster
He is Haitian
My bad, sorry
Gerard was killed because he was a threat to Talon
He has an African-ish accent, imo
He seems to be a very badass character tbh. Not everyone can just sit there with a healthpack around a bunch of tied up Talon agents
I hope he has Creole lines
Do you think they are ever gonna announce sombras real name?
They did
they did
It's Olivia Colomar.
Where?

Read the comics
So is this guy anti-omnic?
We dont know
Most characters who experienced the war usually hate omnics
There's also the origin story lol
THat is in a tweet
so i'd say 70 40 chance
true
Hence why it was plural
It's also on Youtube, fyi
also just to check if i'm dumb or not
Was the twist in the video supposed to be that Baptiste became what he most hated
Not today lol
Yo baptise looks sick
With the little kid in the midst of ruins and him being the cause of it
twist?
Grenadier supoort
Well when you first watch the video, you think Baptiste is the little kid facing a Bastion Unit face to face.
The way it's setup is like the soldier 76 trailer with the girl
Maybe I am looking too deeply into this, but I feel like this guy will have to do something with healthpacks. They are seen in the video like 3-4 times
then at the end of the video it's revealed the Bastion is actually Baptiste working with Talon
Isn't he?
@warped glen ??
He is gonna be some type of healer possibly
Kid
are the two kids supposed to be different
Wait no not hee
also, guess it's canon that Talon troopers just use red helmets now
let me rewatch
I'm saying the way it's setup
??
Nvm hard to explain
76 is gay.
Recall, Legacy, and Train Hopper have mot aged well in that regard
@last inlet I'm pretty sure it's the same kid
Maybe I am looking too deeply into this, but I feel like this guy will have to do something with healthpacks. They are seen in the video like 3-4 times
I believe the point is that Baptiste became what he most hated
Because it was his only choice
he's a support
Maybe he somehow affects the healthpacks?
of course he has something to do with healthpacks
@sacred hamlet it IS Baptiste at the start; the kid just looks very similar to him
it was obvious from the start that he would be support
not a hybrid though
Honestly, and I might get hated for this, but his base character look feels very generic and non-interesting. In my opinion, anyway
who would've expected the DPS support hybrid
His story is intense though, I like that
@dire timber Is it really
@fringe blade the healthpacks could just be flavor; lootboxes and training bots appeared in the comics, neither of which had any gameplay-related implications whatsoever
that's just what health packs used by medics in the OW world look like
True, but it feels a little excessive. Especially to put in right there in his hands in the end
It feels like they are implying something.
didn't feel that way to me at all
Maybe I am crazy. Anyway, his story seems really cool, a lot to expand on. A little dissapointed on the base skin of him, though.
Talon and Omnic Crisis looks like 2 possible skins
His base skins looks fine to be honest
yep
He looks a little ripped off from some other sources
but still looks great
has great potential for skins as well
It just feels like a mix and match of colors and heroes
they had to make him unique and he looks like it
so I think it's fine
better than the boring hologram lady that'll come next
I wouldn't call him unique, but that is just me. Orisa is unique. Doomfist is unique. This guy doesn't seem to have any features that tell him apart from the other heroes
i'd grow into him first
My first impression with this was bad.
But the rest of the origin short seemed good
Lots of good looking skin potential
But that icon looks like Gabriel Reyes with corn rows and Jack's eyeglass
hairstyle and glasses is definitely a weird choice
You mean the Talon outfit?
we're obviously getting one on Archives
no doubt
although it'd be cool if he kept the helmet
Maybe it would cause some glance issues but it would still be a cool design
Not necessarily. Heroes don't get new skins on the next event after their release. However, if he is part of a story mission, he will probs have a unique skin
Orisa got one for Archives
Brigitte got one for anniverssary
100% possible that he can get one for Archives
Wasn't Orisa's like part of the Story Mission, maybe I am wrong
Orisa was a OR-14
Yea
OR15
the purple one
So it was in the game already for the event, right?
Oh thats what you mean
Yes
Yea, I meant like the Talon skins or the Blackwatch skins
she was one of the final bosses in uprising
The skins used in a mission
The only Archives Mission skin that was not added by Archives was Reyes
yeah
Baptiste is hero 30, so that confirms a lot of things
that's why he'll most likely get the talon skin for archives
Orisa/Bastion, and the other 7 playable heroes all got their skins in Archives
Baptiste probably will too
Hopefully
Leaving that Omnic Crisis skin as highly likely, and 1 more
I doubt he'll get the Crisis skin though
Like Ashe did in the winter
it looks too similar to the Talon one
No it doesnt
are you gonna keep the hair the same though
and the hair
Maybe they would be interchangable
Like you know, how they release 2 versions of the same skin, but modified
They do look quite different though
Same hair. Bald.
to be honest it looks shinier
I doubt they would do that. They look very different tbh
Also keep in mind
Moira's Blackwatch outfit in her origin short and Archives saw changes
While Hammond's transition from Origin to Junker Skin didnt
Because Moira's was a copy of Mercy's suit lmao
It still is
Its still a Valkyrie suit
Thus, they will probably change his Talon skin too
Especially with the gun shown
Is a copy of the Talon Trooper rifle
I hope he wears the helmet
Which doesnt fit his gun's silhouette.
wouldn't mind cosplaying as a Talon Unit in-game
While the crisis gun has a (subtle because its cut off but visible) barrel
Like his standard gun
oh my god
Drum barrel
have you seen his Talon gun
I mean
that thing has a huge fucking barrel
Yes, its a copy of the grunts gun
looks like a giant silencer
So was the body armor in the background of Moira's origin vid a tease for Baptiste?
Hmmm
pics
dont think thats him
Agreed
But its also a 1.3 year old design
no c h u b
Even if it was him, it probably saw significant revision
Weird thing is that it was added post-drawing.
Unless they show us an in development video, its probably impossible to tell
but hey at least another hero whose name people can pronounce
How do you pronounce it
I literally forget it every 10 seconds
Baptist, or Bapteest-eh.
Bep tst
There you go, not so obvious to pronounce.
For you
I'm just not able to memorize it
And I mean, Brigitte has always been Bridge It
What would his gun be like
Blizz just likes being inconsistent with pronunciations
If it's french
Probably a nade launcher with ammo types
Bap teest
see
I don't know how Haitians pronounce it tho
same thing
I mean for brig I hear most people call her “Brig-eat-ah”
Brig-ee-tah
Bridge-It
Yea @worthy rose you did it better then I did
She has a voice line where she says it so you can’t really argue with it tbh
It's the German pronunciation, because a German man named her.
Fucking Reinhardt stealing Torb's children
also unless my eyes deceive me, we have yet another Nesskain origin story
brig-ee-tah
bapteest
baguette
brig-ih-teh
bridgette
I agree with bapteest though, that sounds right
maybe we'll finally get a Talon spray in the game
is the new teaser out?
yee
anybody can point me to it?
check #overwatch-news
so its confirmed baptiste?
i'm guessing grenade launcher but hey anything is possible
Probably impact grenades of some sort. Or something that bursts on impact
Whats less obvious is... What's in the second drum? Bullets?
Is this the tommy gun I've been asking about?
looks like a grenade launcher
although it could be bullets for damage and grenades to heal
'well in the letter it said he was a good shot
Hard to tell
Hopefully
u want a tommy as well?
Yes. Though I wanted it for Max
i kinda think baptiste is gonna either have a tommy a grenade launcher or a gun like ashe
Is Baptiste gonna have the delivering healthpacks idea
whens he supposed to come out on the ptr
🤷
they haven't said
awww
some time this week, probably
Most likely tomorrow
Like all PTR patches
Or maybe it's Thursdays when they release the stuf
I get those two confused
Its random for PTR
You mean both then
I mean its random
'Cause I've never seen a PTR patch outside of those two days
We've gotten them on every day of the week
I don't remember that so
Brigitte was put on PTR on a Wednesday
Still hopes on tomorrow since 1 day after is normal for March releases
No
Same day is normal
This is the first time we didnt get same day outside Blizzcon
Isn't that the common for June releases
No
I remember Orisa's Origin popping up on March the 2nd
and being released on the PTR the next day
Brig as well
You are wrong
For all 5 of them
Like always 😦
Except for the DPS Medic though
That drops healthpacks
has different kinds of ammo
completely accurate prediction by yours truly
So you've seen his gamepaly kit?
Have you seen the amount of medpacks that man carries
and the liquid inside the tubes in his nade launcher
Nope
Just a
raw prediction
How do you know the liquid isnt a buff
Its the same colour as Lucio SPeed
You can't say you got that right when its still unconfirmed
I'm not confirming
I'm just saying
Get ready to swallow your own doubt tomorrow
It coming home
hey yall know about the new ''Soldier 30''
you're about 3 hours late, Pug
He's a good looking boy with a good looking heart
Ugh dang it
I found some clues
might be helpful
in the map paris, behind a lucio ball next to that door everyone thinks will open
is 2 starts
behind it
im trying to figure it out.
Can we already conclude Baptiste orientation off the trailer
and I mean like
DnD orientation
?
Is he a chaotic boy
you mean alignment
Yes
also when you fire at the globe near objective b it makes your fire power stronger only when you shoot at it
You mean Alignment.
he is very chaotic
not evil
I think it will be a healer with a assault rifle
he wants to help people
like soldier 76 but its a healer
He's been announced.
XD
No no, you're getting dragged.
Mobilize alongside the combat medic who made the shrewd decision to make the world a better place, one bandage... or bullet at a time: Baptiste. Begin your w...
@peak escarp What made you think he wants to help people though
Actually I still don't get his connection to Talon
Why did he join Talon in the first place
Watch his trailer.
I did
It's all explained.
He says choices a lot
because in the trailer he says he's going to fight for a better world
His only choice out of his situation (probably post-Crisis Haiti) was to enlist with Talon.
He didn't have any other options.
evil guys don't fight for a better world
welp
i knew it
it would be a knock-off brand of 76 and would be a healer though.
lol.
@valid shell That's the lie he told himself.
And he believed it at the time.
Which is why he joined. And now he's un-joined.
@worthy rose Where are you getting that he's a knock-off 76?
Other than "man with gun".
So he's a kid with a rough childhood who went bad 'cause bad only option, but now he's good because he realized he is what he most hated.
Yo at least it's not Ashe's backstory.
We cool.
He believed the sales pitch. Like how some kids have joined street gangs and then leave to do better after some time in the slammer.
Also Talon probably was an assured three hots and a roof
I mean who wouldn't. In that situation, you take what you can get.
Still pretty generic though.
Which is fine by OW's standards
Interestingly, this hero is just a veteran redshirt with a good gun.
We don't even know if his gun is significant.
i hope he has something to do with archives
Nothing really unique about him besides that he left Talon.
@prisma wren He probably will.
hehehe
OW is basically like a super hero setting. The origins will reliably check off expected tropes.
We're likely getting a Talon mission.
yayyyy
Pre-Reaper and Moira, ofc.
well im off
Well, arguably pre-Moira. She might have been a mole.
Would Moira really show up in the Talon Archives mission
see you guys around
I was expecting Baptiste, Sombra, Doom and Reaper
So Baptiste's taking the role of the leader
Maybe?
This is before Akande killed Akinjide.
And what do you mean? Nobody had "AoE damage" in Retribution.
And in this instance we would have Doomfist's ult.
McCree as well
Anyways, mechanical team composition isn't quite lore.
I'm talking moreso what makes sense in the timeframe.
It's just a theory really
So no Reaper or Moira.
Who would be the fourth character then
Doomfist, Sombra, Widowmaker, Baptiste.
Oh true Widow
Doomfist, Sombra, and Widowmaker in their Talon skins, and Baptiste in a Talon goon skin.
I think this hints even more at Baptiste being the main AoE damage dealer in the mission
Most of them are single target
but yeah most likely we'll get those
I even suspect stealth if you ask me
I doubt that a group of elite Talon fighters, some of which are on the council, would take along a random recruit on an important mission.
With both Widow and Sombra being there
Baptiste
Wait are you guys talking about the bosses or who you can play?
That's what he means I think
At the time, that was Baptiste.
Baptiste has been talked up as being an amazing shot and uncommonly resourceful.
I'm sure he'd have proven himself by then.
Still not unique enough.
Yeah to be honest it sounds improbable that Baptiste would go alongside the other Talon members in an important mission
but since he's new Blizz is definitely promoting him there
it would be too hard of a miss
If he was that good, he would probably have risen far enough that he'd have a really tough time getting out.
@valid shell You'd have to assume he was that good before the mission happened.
It's a shot in the dark
^ agreeing with @valid shell there
We can literally see his loadout changing throughout his origins vid as he distinguishes himself.
He loses his helmet and normal equipment and gains a communication relay thing on his back as he proves himself as a field medic.
He is a good fighter, but if he was good enough to go on a important secret mission that long ago, how is he not near council level when he leaves?
It isn't a secret once the bombs start going off.
You're forgetting: He's an Overwatch hero. He's encoded to be uniquely talented and capable.
This isn't really debatable.
It's standard fare for anyone playable.
Actually, I can see how he will be in Archives.
He goes along on this mission, his first with the really big people in Talon, and has his revelation.
But that wouldn't be in the past, would it?
It would have to be, for everyone else to make sense.
Honestly, Akinjide might actually be the final boss of the mission, and the mission might be Akande's coup to become the Doomfist.
That actually makes a lot of sense.
DF goes to kill his master and takes along a rising star in Talon.
Baptiste could come along on false promises from a brother that Akande's trying to bring down Talon. Sombra comes along because she's Sombra. And if somehow Akande gets his hands on Widowmaker's leash, then she's on board.
Sombra would come along if she thinks Akande is stronger.
Baptiste is implied to still be believing that Talon is something that he has to be in.
Doesn't need to be tricked.
So on Uprising the Final Bosses are a bunch of OR-14s; Retribution is a bunch of Heavy Gunning Terrorists (basically Orisas all over again); and on whatever the fuck the last mission is named, we're killing the 2nd Doomfist himself.
Possibly.
Nicu idea, but good fucking luck programming a functional Doomfist AI
And Retribution was only two of them, with no time limit.
And no barriers.
And a Reinhardt charge.
Which made the last 4 minutes of that hell show a ring a round the rousey game
Anyway, that's the theory I'm going with.
Legendary Retribution is fucked up.
Basically run away constantly?
And I think it's gonna be problematic to program a Doomfist AI that won't get stuck on some corner of the map.
Who are you talking about
The old doomfist probably works differently.
Possibly.
Especially if they said he could level a skyscraper.
But it's Blizzard so there's that great possibility they'll recycle his current moves.
Doomfist stories are fairytales
In fact we don't even know what happened between the First and Second Doomfist
I'd be expecting a classic boss battle with powerful, slow-charging attacks.
First Doomfist is a Omnic Crisis savior
A hero of the people
Then some asshole takes the glove and terrorizes Numbani
Probably Talon assassinated the first one.
No mentioning of it, but it's possible.
I also find confusing why they even have Banners of the Doomfists in the first place
because there was going to be a museum exhibit
The Savior is clearly an image of peace for them, but they still hang up Banners of the person who terrorized them for decades
Still
It's just weird how much they honor the Doomfist Legacy
it's the same as all those documentaries and specials about various despots
No Doomfist's been at least morally half-decent since the first one
Well, they're usually depicted badly.
As unbiased as possible most of the time
But badly
Numbani doesn't appear to feel that way about Akinjide and Akande.
now there are more questions than answers in the lore
biggest one ı have is
why sombra is hacking into talon archives to find this guy
he doesnt seem to have a big important thing like volskaya had or much resources to help her (altho we dont know much about him yet) and cant see connections to anyone other than talon soldier
what do you guys think
There is no reason to ask why Sombra is hacking things
She said it herself
Its an addiction
she does it because she can
Bc he was never actually found tbh
At least by anyone not mia
If she does it for Talon that helps sit her better with them
And if she does it for herself she has an ally that can escape Talon
Ya know
The group whose back she went behind to get her meeting in Volskaya and would have reason to call her a traitor and hunt her
Also could just be a rainy day and she was bored
hi-res versions are up
so if he's about 10 during the Crisis, Baptiste should be in his 40s?
he could be younger, I can't tell
yeah, that's just the art style
Is he a talon member?
Was
when did we learn this?
Caribbean Coalition*.
How does he not look like he's in his 30s???
so much for the misdirect
mood^
Tbh just by looking at that picture
I could barely tell you a difference from Soldier
I think a voodoo skin would be dope
outfit and the gun look totally different, no way to confuse with soldier.
Heavy Pulse Rifle is bigger and boxier also no drum mag
big gun
Visor that is presumably for aim
Small canister-resembling healing thing
I dunno....looks a lot like soldier
Except with a bigger gun and he’s now from Haiti
drum mag kinda scaring me
my guy look like an lmg or grenade launcher
that drops health packs

It's definitely a Milkor-esque grenade launcher.
Woke up to see the reveal. Boy this is what I wanted to see!
Baptiste main btw
Baptiste feels like a strange name. People will find it hard to pronounce in game
Its like calling Hammy 'Wrecking Ball'
What is Brigitte?
It's a type of bread from France!
sup guys, quick question. Do yal have a link for everything lore related to overwatch? Like comics, videos, all that good stuff?
check the pins on this channel
i know this is really nitpicky but
the bottom pin isn't
fully updated
bottom 2 aren't
3
that's what i meant
yea
pretty sure we just need Baptiste, Ashe, Reunion, and Shooting Star
oh and Bastet
So Baptiste was a talon agent that regretted joining it?
Yes. He secretly hated being edgy
seems like Talon had a good sales pitch right after the crisis. Go to crappy areas of the world and recruit with promises of doing the greater good and probably some fortune and glory added on.
possibly with a "take revenge on those who caused this" side too
since the devastation in the first place was caused by the crisis
Looking forward to his in game “interaction” with current Talon members like Doomfist, Moira, Reaper etc
don't hold your breath, they usually come out staggered
because you need recordings from the other VAs
Another 3 heroes will have been released by the time he gets all of his Talon Interactions
That how it work with Blizzard
Most confusing thing even is that they bothered recording one miserable Interaction for Winston and Hammond and then decided to leave it at that and not make more.
I honestly don't understand why Blizzard even tries.
Well you're right on the "I honestly don't understand" part
but it does seem talon is taking care of its own at least
you see them agents actually earning good gold and having a good life
and in its daerk ways it is probably improving lives of its allied terratory
so it is a gang yes
a secret society
the Volskaya mission was definitely Widowmaker's fault
she could've easily leaned an inch to the right
their mistake was to rely on sombra
Sooooo who's got bets on Baptiste lore?
im sure he will get a comic once he's fully released
@umbral fiber what bets?
it's pretty much agreed on that Baptiste is going to be part of the next Archives mission, along with Doomfist, Widowmaker, and Sombra
I do wonder whether Reyes and Moira will be referenced in some way
I suspect it will be set 7 years in the past, the same year as Uprising
@valid shell theorized that the mission is going to be the team helping Akande get rid of Adeyemi
in which case, it would probably be set in Numbani
I still wish they reworked Uprising to include Retribution-style loading screen and intro
and adjusted OR-14 mechanics to be more lore-accurate
it's not like alternate abilities are anything new; they got it to work just fine in Lucioball and Mei's Snowball Offensive
keep Fortify and make them use it whenever Rein charges at them from a large distance, remove Halt! and Supercharger completely
maybe keep the shields
So how does everyone already know about Baptiste before he got announced ?
Was he in a comic that I might have missed ?
Teaser released in the 21
We have his origin story and first look at his in-game model
that's the announcement
he's asking where people heard of him before
he was mentioned in this doc https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/news/22905586
@uneven python there was a tease on Twitter
it featured the doc posted by @iron plume
and his origin trailer dropped some 12 hours ago
Mobilize alongside the combat medic who made the shrewd decision to make the world a better place, one bandage... or bullet at a time: Baptiste. Begin your w...
ngl
the moment i saw that in my youtube home page
i just thought of brigitte
I actually thought it was brigittes origin trailer in my recommended for some reason xD
he just feels really like her to me with the big bulky armour etc
just ofc without a shield and flail
still looks cool af though, i really hope he gets a Talon legendary skin
of the like
solider or something similar
when is his abilities being revealed
If he does get a Talon skin it will be with Archives
Ehh
i'd vote agaisnt that considering
Ana got Overwatch/Horus skin as a normal legendary
which was technically a lore skin
That was before Archives existed
Look at Moira who had the skin in her trailer just like Baptiste
oh
tru
i just hope baptise gets some cool legendary skins
Ashe's legendaries were
... ugly to say the least (imo)
What type of hero do you guys think Baptiste will be?
support
dps/support hybrid probably
excited to see what his gun actually does
aswell as what his alt is
ult*
A main heals debuff character towards tanks
I suspect a Rambo Legendary and some Voodo one people were asking for
and obviously the Talon one we're getting on April
Ye probably
Due to how they are made, there likely won't be many for a start
Bah-teeest. Good to know.
Isn't it pronounced without the P and E at the end ? Like Batist
I liked Ashe gangster skin
I saw the orgin trailer yesterday did it just dropped yesterday
Baaaaaaaaaa 🐑 teeeth
im suspecting Baptiste will have a hitscan primary assault weapon. He has a gun bipod, which makes me think one of his abilities is plopping down somewhere focusing heavy damage on an enemy kinda like a sniper/Bastion hybrid. Idk what his healing mechanic is, maybe sort of like an Ana 'nade or Brigitte health pack that he throws out?
Well his gun is shaped like a grenade launcher, more or less
^^ I was thinking that too
Hitscan with splash damage would be interesting to see
like his gun could either be an rifle or a grenade launcher. so kinda like a Pharah/Junkrat with splash damage
and can alternate between damage and healing but unlike Ana, it's either primary fire or secondary fire. Maybe that big barrel on his gun revolves between healing and damage?
Perhaps, yea
horned origin story look?
but that wasn't a Talon look
the only possible skins we could've gotten from that cinematic
is
Lab coat moira
blackwatch moira (we got)
and default moira (we got obviously)
i really hope the next archives is based around Torb/Brig/Rein/Bastion
dont think we've heard much from them in quite awhile
That would be cool, buts its likely going to be focused on Talon
@peak escarp it could be
she could've kept her Valkyrie suit when she teamed up with Talon
valkyrie suit?
the "horns" are part of her valkyrie suit
trust me people are gonna mispronounce it, like torb and brig
no one gonna go with the whole name
its gonna be torb/torby, brig, and bap/baptist
it's not that hard once we hear an official pronunciation
bap
Bap
bautista bomb
Haques
What is the Iris?
Good question
All we know is that it is the subject of Omnic Faith
It is also speculated to be related to the entity that found Sombra.
But that's just speculation. We know little about the Iris
the Shambali and their followers seem to believe that the Iris is some kind of nondescript entity, place, or state of being, trough which omnics and humans alike can achieve enlightment
I could swear there was a statement that Chu made that described Shambali beliefs about the Iris in a more specific way... hmm.
For more information about the game, please refer to the wiki: https://overwatch.gamepedia.com/Shambali
On the Iris page is this
Michael Chu, the lead writer of Blizzard's Overwatch, breaks down every character in the game. Michael explains the backstories for every hero in Overwatch, ...
Might be what you're looking for?
Didn't someone confirm that Zen's abilities in-game are completely non-canon which makes him an useless asset in battle.
he's a monk
Or maybe magic in OW really exists and The Iris is a real entity, which explains why Bastion is a special boy and why Orisa loves pointing out that she's seen the Iris when she dies.
what does he need to fight for?
he also can fight physically and has some form of telekinesis
@limpid agate ah, that
so even if discord isn’t a thing he can more than hold his own
I think I was the one who added the "can a achieve a higher state of being" line
and added that reference
Would telekinesis be a scientific ability or a magical one
everything in ow is science/technology based in some form
Genji and Hanzo dragons?
Nanobots son
I mean, anti-grav tech is incredibly commonplace
Or maybe the same shit Symmetra uses for her balls
it's present in almost literally every car
so it's not like making things move in the air would be a big deal at all
Damn a lot of abilities
so which one is his ult
Looks like the
immortal field?
he have so many ability lol wtf
The crouch things seems like a lot
Amplification Field is his ult
It's great to know there's a character in the game who literally makes people immortal now
who neez res when you dont die
Really? O.o
Doctor you sure
@peak escarp Is it confirmed his Ult is the amp wall
That does not look like an ult
it better be
yes, that's what I just said
Double damage and double healing on a Basic Ability is fucking ridiculous
Usually the icon. Is descriptive of what the character is like
Baptiste is a battle-hardened combat medic who wields an assortment of experimental devices and weaponry to keep allies alive and eliminate his enemies. Baptiste’s Biotic Launcher fires a three-round-burst that rewards accuracy and recoil control with significant damage output. His alternate fire lobs grenades that heal allies near the point of impact. With Regenerative Burst , Baptiste activates an intense surge that heals himself and nearby allies over time. When danger is near, Baptiste can toss out his Immortality Field to prevent allies from dying. Baptiste moves around the battlefield with Exo Boots , jumping over obstacles and clearing distances that would stop other heroes. Baptiste deploys his Amplification Matrix as his ultimate, which doubles the damage and healing effects of friendly projectiles.
Like whole hog
His kit is crazy and all
Oh interesting
But I question how any of this makes sense for his character
I was expecting the basic generic Medic who heals with bandaids and shit
oof
yet he's literally making people immortal while healing them by closing his fists
Yea the immortality field is just a weird ability
he's activating his tech by using gestures
That seems like a bit much for an ability
that's not that weird
oh yea
That's what I thought when I saw it
Like. That thing is huge
Then this little robot comes out and puts down a wall or something?
For an ultimate?
Yea
But you got to think how powerful that wall is despite its size
His antideath is destructible
Maybe if it had like. A dome shape thatd be more reliable and interesting. Because a wall just seems like itd be good for chokes. But i do see the wall going to be a helpful thing
The wall makes him a 3 star difficulty most likely.
He is
He is i kno
Now that i look at it more
I see the amplication field looks like an ult
Like the wall colors and details
Immortal looks like a basic ability. In this world of Rez as E
I just wish the icon was more.. Baptiste related. Such as d.va with her bunny and lucio with his frog. And roadhog with whole hog. Winston with his glasses
I posted it here for the story
ok from the story we know his healing type grenade is probably lore
but what else
he surely can have a nade launcher since that is only a weapon
the rest is not seen in lore, bothe the jump and field and immportality
Well all healers seem to be trying to be immortal.
It seems to be a new type of energy
Immortality could work similar to defense matrix in lore theoretically
True. I think its a new energy possibly.
Defense matrix just kinda
Shot everything before it could be a threat or smth
Yea.
we know that regular talon operatives dont have the backpack
but we dont know anything about the backpack in lore so
i dont understand why blizzard made soldier 76 and tracer gay
does this affect gameplay?
not sure if immortal is lore
but the gun is and healing is, he is combat medic also
not sure if regeneration is lore either
immortality field is basically just shields so
not sure if shield or matrix
but one thin interesting in this whole bapt lore thing, talon seem to be treating its staff quite well really
even as a grunt he is well paid and well treated
Moira being straight doesn't affect anything and y'all aren't complaining about that
We don’t know for sure Moira’s straight.
They weren’t “made gay” they were revealed to be gay. They’re still the characters you know and love
Baptist weapons
Talon payroll
Moira's sexuality
One of these things is not like the other....
Lmfao
But if we're going to go down that route, behold - the bastard love child of Moira and Sombra https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/genlock/images/7/7e/Val_gL_Suit_ProfilePic.png
What, no previews?
yes, no previews
uh
the server magically detects shitposts and doesn't embed them
what's that about Moira out of a sudden?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
someone brought up her being straight out of nowhere
which 1, we don't know
2, why not use someone we do
Yeah, anyway, back to rich mooks
can we be back to the new lore stuff like talon and bapt, srsly why all of a sudden people care about what moira wants to mount anyways.
Ana is straight

not sure how that relates to lore but in testing that immortality drone thing seem to be quite fiinicky
also ahve quite limited height of its effective range
but this would only mean something if the drone itself is lore
(yes we know ana / torb is confirrmed straight thanks, lets move on)\
they're not confirmed straight
tbh I picture Moira being kinda "lonely" with minimal romantic ticks. preferring her nights in the lab doing more "mad science".
admittedly not mad science to her though
moira is not mad, though she might be free of moral constraint
so she is not going on mad biased nazi science, it is just that she would happily bypass oral codes if needed be
So somewhat sociopathic?
sure
Yeah. It depends on whether she was born like that or it’s a learned behaviour, but she does act more like a sociopath than a psychopath
I was wondering is the immortality field 1 shot like sombra's translator?
Like destroyed in 1 hit
I reckon it would have to be. Though it looks a lot bulkier than the translocator
Ends justify the means would probably describe her methods of science
Immortal drone has like 250 HP or something. Anyway
Uh, does anyone know if he's just speaking French or...?
He’s Haitian so probably
maybe Haitian Creole
I wish he had more voice lines.
he will
they usually take a week to add cosmetics
Yep. Just gotta wait
I actually need a Talon skin for him during the archive events
See if his voice lines are in another language
He'll maybe get one for Archives
During the evnt
when is archives comming?
April
👍
probably April 9 with a preview the week before (maybe during an OWL broadcast again)
Dev Update
https://youtu.be/akplvZwGJZI
yeah
there's not much about his story though
What can unify all of the characters despite obvious divisions?
some probably nothing, Others possibly another crisis
some of the Talon folks probably would always be Talon. the independents another crisis which would probably trigger the UN making Overwatch legal again
Is it spilling over the Second Omnic Crisis out of Russia?
yeah
Now people like D.Va are a wild card, She is potentially OW material but if another Omnic Crisis erupted her first loyalty would be to the Korean Army.
How does the South Korean Army play into this?
And Doctor_Six, there is a three decade time gap between the first and second Omnic Crisis, this will give countries time to adapt to what the omnic could unleash, including Overwatch tactics.
I know MEKA is apart of this.
So are you meaning it'll be the first crisis over again but more modern and more deadly?
In your opinion, is the Omnic Crisis the Third World War?
pretty much
it seemed to be a global conflict with that level of casualties
30 million orphans and all
We finally agree on something, and I think the casualties are at least one billion, probably higher because it takes place some time ahead of our current world. And the world population is nearing 8 billion as of now.
And through statements, until Overwatch, only Russia was able to hold them back, and the omnics could have done a ton of atrocities with numbers many times worse than the Nazi's have done. Supporting the potential casualty count, both military and civilian.
we've been agreeing the whole time
👏
a second crisis could even result in some weapon that is morally questioned decades later
Is it an EMP weapon or a fusion bomb?
say something that directly attacks omnics but is not discriminate between ones who want to kill all humans and ones who dont.
admittedly that does drift rather close to the atomic bomb or the destroy option in Mass Effect 3
possibly, if they wanted to take the parallel with WWII even further
Then how do you take care of the God Programs if it attacks omnics directly?
destroy or corrupt the main processing of the God programs
networked systems are vulnerable to attack and if you can attack the main systems possibly even send the virus if you will out to all "clients"
Now in Pharah's comic we see the programs can take control of omnics, The only thing we do not know is are they being overridden or formatted with new programming.
override would mean the core original omnic intelligence is there but its now a passenger in its own frame. formatted for new programming would be basically flashing the firmware deleting the original core programming.
That flows into my next point, for the Second Omnic Crisis to spillover into neighboring countries, Talon (Mostly Sombra) has to break the programs free to take control of more omnics beyond Russia's borders.
And probably the GP controls omnics via overriding them due to Bastion having a Vietnam Omnic Crisis flashback through one of his fallen comrade's remains.
Okoro (the omnic in Pharah's squad) was able to maintain enough control to destroy his own brain/harddrive before the program fully took over, so I think it's more like a hijacker virus
Omnics are unpredictable, and God Programs may as well be too, such as Anubis being a hijacker virus type GP while the GP's in Central Europe override omnic programming.
I have held a theory/head canon that Omnics actually have a hard wired override system, dating back to the original Omnica Corporation designs. A system that would have let Omnica override one in an emergency. God Programs learned to exploit that an Okoro was in that situation but without the core processor the override also does not work and so Okoro fed it a bullet.
I mean if you build a bunch of bots as a big corporation odds are you will slip a back door in there somewhere
we don't know enough about AIs like Anubis to really be sure
Two words; omnics adapt.
a sample size of 1 is not very good to base your knowledge on
God Programs very well could have diverse methods to take control of hundreds of omnics.
Most Omnic Crisis lore we know of is few and far in between.
i want to know if baptiste's grenade launcher is talon made or custom made specially for him
Could be means Moira is using Mercy tech like ana nade
No canon sources, but theres also a third option Baptiste could have to obtain the Biotic launcher, he could have created it himself.
We don't know what he has gone through between the Omnic Crisis, joining Talon, and betraying Talon to be certain how he obtained it.
However it's likely to be expanded upon in a few months.
There is little known. How is his name pronounced?
It's probably that you need to know Haitian Creole or French to pronounce it right as Baptiste is Haitian.
Problem solved.
Lol
okay uh no
Excuse me
