I look and draw using direct inspiration from others' work all the time, it helps me develop my "unique style" and many artists across history have copied others' "styles" until they found their own
it's a matter of how you prefer to learn and what you can take from each type of guide; by example or by explanation. A way to understand it can be like looking at a dance video vs dance tutorial. you can learn different things from both
