Dumb and fun idea here: special province improvements that don't show up to other players. When you build them, there's no visible timer or construction, and to other players it keeps looking like whatever normal province improvement used to be there before it was built.

Why?
To hide our feywater pond! I think it would be properly devious if enemies had to look for it in the mist, maybe only discovering the true SPI when they step into it (so they have to be at war with you).

Here's ideas for new SPI:s that could use this feature:

  • bandit hideout that pillages adjacent enemies when war is declared (maybe even gets bonuses from their provinces during peace?)
  • tunnels that let you travel into and out of the city centre, even when it's under siege. Unit deployment location for extra shenanigans

This would really only be fun for multiplayer (at least the hiding) and a bunch of stuff here is probably impossible to implement, but hey, I had to get the idea out of my system.

Also could be something you reveal with truesight.

I like that, it always seemed silly that the feywater pond could easily be found and destroyed by an army. It feels like something capable of hiding an entire army could probably disguise its position reasonably well

Maybe add an astral spell that reveals any hidden SPIs in a city's domain? I feel like that fits with the theming of several tomes
