Since beta got lots of stuff, including the hard limit of double casts, how about reworking Wizard king's signature ability?

Why? Because it can't work with ascension perk and weavers unit.

With what? Well, here is the idea.

Delete overchannel. Instead, give the Wizard king a new ability, that allows him to use any magic ability for free. By clicking on it, WK gets 5 magic tree abilities (chain lightning, freeze blast and so on). WK will be able to use that ability for free.

Casting that ability costs 0 AP.

WK can use the same ability twice, if they have it learned by then. Like double chaind lightning

CD 1 turn.

Afaik, only champion. I haven't seen anything about WK though

Overchannel seems too strong and just causes balance problems IMO. Or at least magnifies existing normal-size balance issues and makes them into problems.

Overchannel would be ok if all the spells were finely balanced around it, but they're really not.

I was talking with a friend a while back and we thought a decent fix for overchannel might be to have it reduce spell casts by 1 next turn and introduce a 1-turn cooldown. You get more explosive turns at the cost of spells on the next turn. It would give WK flexibility but not spell economy issues.

Then they went ahead and added units with overchannel as well lol. All economy straight out the window.

Cooldown on spellcasting sounds interesting too. Basically "get now, face consequences later"

The sorcerer ascension perk honestly shouldn't let you do another spell every turn. Just once per combat like overchannel. It's too tempting to get versus every other ascension trait.

But yeah, cooldowns on big spells specifically sounds healthy for balance. Little ones you should always be able to spam
