As for new tomes
Tome of Equilibrium = based on balance and discipline unlocking a new unit called the monk great for retaliation
Tome of Taoism = based on energy and unlocking things to there full potential at a cost of being a somewhat a double edge sword.
These tomes would gain 1 affinity in order and 1 in darkness to signify not falling to one or the other completely but establishing a balance between the two.
This would also fit thematically with the dragon leader as a dragon head design based on a Chinese dragon.
Tomes that could expand on this later would revolve around Shinto mythology, Zodiac and martial arts.
Bringing in new units like masters of martial arts and unlocking the spiritual gates to deeper customize units to the point where you can utilize minor transformation in the form of combat styles like in martial arts to get to the point of unlocking them all to turn your whole empire into full blown martial artists.
