#Damage falloff for single-figure unit

Okay so we know that when your unit is hit and lost some figures it inflicts less damage. Does it work for single-figure units as dragons/giants so loosing figures is only cosmetic? I didnt notice it on video.

it's tied to model count

#

i.e. when a model dies, the unit deals less dmg

So a dragon with full hp deals the same damage as dragon with 10% hp?

#

If dragon is single-figure unit

#

I mean then s-f units will be much more valuable and approach weaken instead of kill wont work for them

closest thing to a dev response is this

#

If it was 1994 Master of Magic, I agree, Single Figure Units would have immunity to damage reduction

from losing figures, yes ;d

#

if there is no other change in context, a 100% single-figure dragon would deal the same damage as a 10% hp one

#

Gladius even differentiates damage received based on figure count

I can't remember what game it was but they had a similar Mechanic but it also had an upside, groups that lost multiple models got bonus against ranged attacks

#

Since a hail of arrows naturally had less targets to hit

I feel that there should be some type of bonuses for units who lose some figures since it does seem pretty cheap that a t3 unit will do so little damage to a dragon or even t5 it would just incentivize never getting any single units

I had no clue figures were anything but aesthetic in Planetfall. I honestly never noticed.

i'm worried that without a single-figure HP penalties, like being wounded, it'll lean into the optimal playstyle is to collect and stack those units as much as possible, even if they might be rarer and more elite, hopefully they've thought of that, i remember skipping that has been an issue in other game's i've played and there's a reason tabletop games have wound tables for large single entities

I remember it being discussed a lot in AoE3 as an addition; which would definitely skew balance but if its being made with the mechanic in mind hopefully it wont be so bad. I do worry AoE in general will be pretty strong and you will be discouraged from finishing off wounded enemies (used to be a priority) and just always hit full hp ones (wounded melee specifically that hits weak and dies to counters)

Well, just how much damage is actually lost through dead figures? Is it actually significant enough that you'd actually minimize the damage you take by ignoring nearly dead squads in lieu of damaging healthier ones?

If it's s master of magic esque model with current figure counts damage could be reduced by 66%

#

So probbably could choose to ignore in favor of hitting a healthy guy

#

Other than the hurt guys affect in action points and number of retialruons ofc

In Master of Magic weren't units with higher figure counts affected more by damage buffs, because each individual dude would get the bonus damage?

yes
