#Explored Sites in Fog of war

because of this cheat it is very important for competitive players to constantly check sites in fog of war which is very time consuming and annoying
And maybe have it that you cannot see over mountains and through cave walls. Maybe have a feature to turn off or on the normal way of sight and the new version which will prevent units from abusing the sight mechanics
If that's not in the game, I don't see how they could find the time to implement it.
maybe a DLC?
Sure, but it is also a pretty far reaching design decision a completely new feature never before seen in the series and in a way I would argue runs contrary to many other already existing systems while adding very little tangible benefit.
Also I don't see how you can be calling the sight mechanics "abusing". This is how they're intended to work. Scouts scout, they see further and it's a fixed value. Sure it doesn't make that much narrative sense in places like underground, but this is simply a real life aspect that the game chooses not to simulate. What you get instead is a much more predictable pattern for scouting, because your unit vision is constant.
Like it's a cool idea, but perhaps for a different game.
On the other hand I am 100% in agreement with you about the changes in FOW. It does feel more like an unintended consequence of coding and systems interaction, rather than a feature.
I can see this idea being a thing in a specific climate or realm that you choose when making the map
Am I mistaken, or did the cave dungeons in the first AoW game have proper line of sight?
Not the underground layer itself, just a specific kind of neutral battle dungeon.
I know it had fog of war, but I don't recall if it had line of sight.
I never played the 1st game so I don't know, I did play the 2nd and 3rd quite a bit, and it always bugged me that the line of sight mechanics let's you see through the cave walls or over mountains like your units had x-ray vision, either way I can see how not being able to see through walls or mountains could make a fun and different experience. =}
Video games are funny.
They did.
