#Bag management seems to be world management

So firstly. I'm a big fan of WA and have been excited to get into LS. The bag management of this game feels different than WA and getting mats back to your ship and safety just feels harder or maybe different.

I was thinking though as I got stranded on an island Sunday that had no atlas dust that I could just start a new server, grab the mats I needed, then log back to my main server and fix my ship.

Then I realized. At any time. I can log out. Log into my "main base world" on the starter island and use that as a place to store all my stuff. Then log back into my "adventure" server and basically have an unlimited bag and all my resources anywhere I needed them.

Is this what Bossa intended? To have separate worlds, one for a big base and bag space .. then to log in and out to your exploration world(s) or your PVP world?

I could see logging in, making a new world, bringing mats to make a 1x1 tiny ship, zip to the island you want to mine. Then with a full bag go back to your main world and anytime you need that resource from that island just log back into that server to mine.

This may seem a little silly. But peak LS could be having a server for each island and one server to gather and hoard your stuff.

Good point. Kinda the reverse of creating a world with you standing conveniently by a hard-to-get resource you often need, so you dont have to travel around so much?

You can be in the bowels of an island dungeon. Log out. Log into your home base. Change gear. Empty your bag. Get more food or amo. Whatever you need. Then just log back into the server you were in the dungeon fully refreshed exactly where you were a few minutes ago. With different servers you always have an infinite bag one log in and out away.

Same thing with resources. Once you find a great spot to mine just fill up your bag, log out, then only come back when you want more of that resource.

Yep; resource/storage-wise this is wide open; the only thing they plugged is that the data disks cant be grabbed from seperate worlds.

Right. Data discs are mined once regardless of the world you are in.

I suppose my main question with the bags is was this the intention? Is this how they envisioned us to play? Having a home base seems like the smartest way to do it. Then have an adventure server with your exploration ship that you can run around in and send special mats back to your safe server. Especially with how fragile ships seem in LS there is no way I'm building a big "keep everything in one ship" and using it to explore in. Also a big ship like that is slow. Small ships are better to run around and explore with.

I would only use it as an emergency. It would ruin the game for me and break immersion, if I would always have to log out, log in, deposit etc. I know it's there, but I don't have to use it and don't want to do it on a regular basis. It's as if I know cheatcodes to a game but don't use them to ruin my fun 😁

except if stuck 😛

And I didn't think about it until I was stuck. I had a nice ship stuck on an island with a blown off helm and happened to be out of shards.... And there were no shrimp on that island. I was totally stuck.
