It would be great to add a Harpoon for the ship to the game.
I found 8 possible interesting applications of the Harpoon and described them in a slide show.

If I can shamelessly reference my own wish list item regarding PvE battles. Harpoons would be great for the immobilization phase of a battle with large PvE creatures. Forcing them to drag the weight of your ship, if not also accelerating against their movement; slowing them down enough to make their armor plating easier targets for high speed melee strikes and expose weak spots.
