This is a very beautiful poem, in my eyes it seems as the man would come back home in a stressful manor and wouldn't fully be concentrated enough to enjoy his time with his wife, too upset to even remind himself he has someone that loves him, someone who's "perfect" in the eyes of the man, perfect enough that he confesses that God himself didn't make any errors when it came to her. Now that he's in war he thinks of all the times that he was looking at her without her even her noticing her, almost like he was too scared to tell her that he loved her randomly. The poem, or "Letter" ends of beautifully as well, that not even surrendering in the war, or him making it back home to her, another confession that even if he dies in the war or somehow makes it back to his wife that he'd still return the same. In his clear eyes during the moment of him reading he sees his flaws clearer than ever because it's something he's only seeing just now because he's thinking about the one person that means a lot to him, the person he's wronged and the person he believes is perfect. Even if they were living in a bad place, it meant the world to him that he was living with someone that he loved.
this is actually a gay poem haha, a soldier writing a letter home to his best friend who he can't be with because they're both men
I had thought that he did a gay act in the war and it didn't matter because the person he was sending to would never see it
I've seen girls with the name stevie
aw, i meant to portray it as the speaker is writing a letter confessing his love, because he knows the other person (Steve) won't read it and he'll die in the war without ever getting to confess in person
its okay, i believe that poetry can be interpreted in any way
theres always ways to make things clearer to the reader, but please dont try to ever give the reader an explanation in the first few sentences, always have it in the linings
Another reason i had thought it was a man sending a letter to his wife was when you wrote that he had spoken to a nun, so in my head he came to a nun about marriage advice
You should check out my poem that i just posted, its called temptation
