Let me be hated
Rather than a faker
Just another mimic
In a brainless crowd,
Authenticity
A word so foreign
To the likes of you
Think I'll dress like you?
Talk like you
Try to be you?
Huh

As a girl, the thing I liked most was how unapologetic the tone feels. It doesn’t sound polished for approval, and that actually makes it hit harder. The line “Authenticity / A word so foreign / To the likes of you” stands out because it shifts from rebellion into disappointment, which gives the poem more depth than just anger.

Also, the broken structure works well here — the pauses make it feel like someone speaking in real time instead of performing poetry. A lot of people write about individuality, but the rare thing here is that this piece doesn’t try to sound “poetic” to prove its point, and that honesty becomes the style itself.✨
