Rat-traps in the garden.
Snake slithering through the brush.
Ripping out your invisible morals
with string and sling, tied
'round your fangs, in your
wired-up jaws.
And one pull was all it took.
Unexplained, overlooked, the sin,
the cage you were given,
slid on the dirt, to you.
Red. And such a sweet scent.
Were we really meant
to do as we were told?
If He made us to be bold, then
behold the state we're in. Weep
for our creation. As the mountains
have long done. As the stars
have always done.
Weep for our intelligence.
Weep for our decisions.
Weep for our sentience.
For our needs. For our desires.
For our acceptance.
For the flag of our humanity.
For our handprints on every cave.
